1. Early Stukas had 2 mgs in the wings and a single mg mount for the gunner. Later modles had a dual mount for the gunner IIRC
2. Howdy all, What say we solidify some plans for the second meeting. Who is planning on coming? The 27th had been mentioned as a date, how does this work for everyone? Any ideas as to location(I like the BBQ idea)? San Diego is fine...but as the title implies I'm from OC so going northward works too. Speak up lads, let's see if we can come up with a workable plan. Thumpre(The Two headed)
3. To all those who made it last night, Feldgrau, Navarre, Mk IV, Capt. Foobar, and Gyrene, thank you for a very enjoyable evening. It was very refreshing to be able to talk about "The Obsession" without having people shake their heads and smile nervously. Perhaps we should look into that Argentine B-B-Q for the next meeting....
4. Just talked to the Supreme Being(Wife) and she says by all means, go. After pick self off floor in amzement, I post this message. I'll bring my Dell Laptop (hope there is a plug handy since the pig has a hour worth of useful battery life at full charge). What's the easiest way to get there from Newport Beach?
5. Thanks in advance I need some info on the OOB and TO&E of the British 1st Armored Division in WWII 44'/45'. Any help would be appreciated. Thumprer
6.
quote:
Becouse Doom's impact on computer gaming is more measurable. Concidering CM has only been out for a year, I think #50 on the all time computer game list is quite a compliment. The raters are taking it on faith that CM will revolutionize the wargaming genere, and is not just a shot in the pan, allbiet a very good one. Cheers Eric

Well said. I must say that even for someone who is as much of a fan of CMBO as I am, the mindless raving when anyone dares to compare any other game( Blaspheemer!! there are no other games!!!) gets really old. Who knows what their criteria was, this isn't a quantitative analysis, it's a freakin list. Considering they have EVERY genre lumped together shows you much "analysis" went into the process. You just don't get more apples and oranges than trying to compare CM and DOOM. I'm glad everone is so very loyal to CM but please can we try to stop sounding like a bunch of rabid, frothing fanatics for once?
7. *Disclaimer* This post does not contain the following: wild rantings about the need for more accurate modeling of the ballistic effects of body parts thrown up by high caliber artillery, long lists of "stuff that absolutely HAS to be in CMBB or it will suck, any intentional reference to the 'Pool(other than to say it is a very unique place-even for the internet) or mindless comparisons of CM to any other game(can you say "apples and oranges"?) The other day while checking my e-mail for turns I had a sudden realization- because of Combat Mission I have made a bunch of new friends. Good ones, too. One of my opponents who I met playing the first NSS tourney(bastich beat me too ) and I end up sending each other updates on life, the universe and everything. Toorob, who resides in Europe, keeps me informed of what is happening across the pond. Even Moriarty, although he is a gamey manhoover/atricioist bastich, makes me chuckle with his ramblings. Just about all of the folks that I have played have been pleasant and interesting to correspond with. When my little boy was sick in the hospital, everyone sent him their best wishes, hell not everyone at my work did that and I am a teacher. Truth be told there are time that I am more interested in what my opponents have to say than in the game, i really enjoy the interaction. I tell my wife about the game and she rolls her eyes, I tell her about what Ted wrote and she pays attention( hopefully, not too much attention ) The social aspect of the game is turning out to be the best part(except maybe blowing up Mort's tanks ) I hope that others have gained as much enjoyment out of the social interaction as I have.
8. Hey, in the unsolicited opinion of a self avowed "slackass lurker" I agree with all those who have said that this action is a childish example of "I'll take my toys and go home.." on the part of Tiger. Sheesh, the guys mods were good but there are way more talented artists out there who don't throw themselves into a pout when people disagree with them. Like I said, just my opinion, yours may be different.
9. Shrullenhaft, Fieldmarshall, Thanks for your help. The lack of graphics processor power would explain the jerky leg stuff but I sure am baffled about the Attention thing. If I knew how to post a picture I would since this is real strange. Alex
10. Maybe someone can help me with this really vexing problem. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop with the GeForce 2 32mb Graphic chipset. I installed CM on it and applied the 1.12 patch. Runs just great, nice and smooth even with the Hires mods...BUT....I have two really odd graphic glitches: 1)When you start a game all of the troops are standing at attention. I mean parade ground, General is reviewing the troops, attention, straight as a ramrod. They don't stay that way in the game, they go back to the running crouching or prone position as soon as they move but they always start that way. So what's the problem, you say? Well, I've had the game running on my Dell Destop PC for ages now and I've never ever seen this behavoir befor. Really doesn't affect the game but it sure is weird. 2) When the troops run I get a real jerky, twitchy annimation, nothing like what I see on my aformentioned destop PC(which also has a GeForce 2 but 64mb) The head swivle is also very jerky, like a frame or two of the annimation is missing. The vehicles seem to move just fine. Neither of these glitches is keeping me from having a blast with the game on either computer but if anyone has any ideas about this please clue me in, I kind of expect different performance from different brand comps but not from the same company. Thanks for your help. Alex Ewert

18. Oh man that was funny. Great observations Capt. Thank God my cat is house broken, now if only I could do the same with my wife......
19. Excellent post Capt. As for myself, 10% Grog 90% Goon. I'm loath to admit to it but I now more about antacids these days than antitank mines. ------------------ When one goes tear-assing around, one often ends up with a torn ass.
