1. I remember back when I was "Wehrmacht", YES, even before I was "Ol' Blood & Guts" when I posted a thread called "Combat Mission needs..." and I chose the option of an email notification everytime a response was made. Boy, I thought that thread would never go away! And then it wasn't too long after that when the board crashed and I changed my name to Ol' Blood & Guts. I then lost that name during the infamous "Refreshing Monkey" craze in the wake of the Gold Demo release back in May. Although I wasn't around on last Thanksgiving, I soon was sometime in early January. D/L'ed the Beta Demo and immediately preordered the turkey, no pun intended the very next day, even with those graphics from Madmatt's link above. For you guys still bitchin' about CM's graphics, I sincerely urge you to check out what CM looked like in the Beta Demo days from the above mentioned link. CM of today is 500% better looking than it was then. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
2. ATTENTION...ATTENTION...ATTENTION!!! I have a Hi-Res Winter Allied Uniform Mod comparable to the German uniforms in the MDMP-2. I've emailed it out to a few people when I first completed it. It will be available on my site when it's published. They may not be totally historical, but they do prevent the infantry from sticking out like sore thumbs though. NOTE: These are different than the set thzt is available on CMHQ. I totally redid these leaving in the details of the tunics. They look pretty good, IMHO. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
3. In my very first game of CMv1.01, I had a flamethrower EXPLODE one of my Panthers.
4. Do you dream in GigaHertz? New Pentium 4's are available in 1.4 and 1.5 GHz w/400MHz bus speeds. Check out this site for more info. http://www.intel.com/home/pentium4/index.htm
5. Have you looked at the unit database on the ASL2CM converion site? They have an add-on that details every unit. I don't know if it has the infantry AT-weapons listed, but give it a shot. Go look through the CM webring for the URL. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-24-2000).]
6. OK fellas, once I get home I'll start compiling all of what I've got. I've slightly sharpened some stuff like the buildings. So I'll just pull everything out of my bmp folder the way I see it on my screen. Again, I think that all the mods that I have installed have produced the best overall look. With BIG DD's Foliage Packs and Subdued Velvet Grass along with several other small mods really give that overall great look. I think y'all will like my site once I get it on-line. I've used a pretty easy-to-use navigation system. Every section/page can be accessed from anywhere in the site. I've used a site-wide theme. It's not a CM related theme, but it's effective.
7. The Almighty Doug didn't know that? LOL! You mean we're one up on you? LOL!
8. Anybody interested in this or will I just be wasting my time? ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
9. Actually Steve said that even a 28.8 modem will be able to handle TCP/IP games well. Due to the way the game will transfer information. Just to let ya know.
10. The "targeting target"? What's that? [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-23-2000).]
11. Actually, now that I think about it, I played Age of Empires II and Need for Speed IV: High Stakes before CM arrived just to fill in the time gap. My buddy did bring over Shogun: Total War and I played that for about a week or so and haven't been back to it since, in fact I deleted that 1+ GB monstrosity. Nothing seems to hold my interest as much as CM does. I may reinstall it 'cause I saw a show on Discovery-World that talked about feudal Japan and its Samuri Warriors.
12.
quote:
Originally posted by goonch: I probably would have finished Deus Ex sooner. Along with CM I play Baldur's Gate 2 with small fixes of Enemy Engaged(EECH),Combat FS 2, Railroad Tycoon 2. I must admit, I think I will be putting everything aside, except CM of course, for B-17 2---Yeahhhhh babyyyyyyyyyyyyy. It's on its way care of the Brits.

B-17 II? You mean that game by Has-blow? Are you sure you wanna waste your money on that one? With Hasblows record as of late, I am not gonna buy any of their crap from now on.
13. Again a little off-topic, but I just thought of a great name for CM3...CM3:Battle for the Med.
14. I never saw an official announcement. I tink BTS is more concerned with getting to work on CM2 rather than spending precious time now on CM1 add-ons. Besides, BTS said a LOOONG time ago that they would try to update previous CM versions with the enhancements of future versions in order to keep the game system current so as to not out-date older versions. That alone is worth the time and praise of/for BTS to "maintain" their games. Just like the Space Shuttle, today's shuttle is far more advanced, via upgrades, than the original Columbia back in 1980. Atlantis is the first shuttle to have the "glass cockpit" see this picture http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/shuttle/sts-101/hires/s99_01415.jpg . I use this picture as my Windows Background wallpaper. Ironically the Columbia is the next shuttle to get this cockpit upgrade. Wonder why I know all of this? I follow NASA's progress via NASA TV and their website. Check my profile, I think it includes "space travel" in my interests. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-23-2000).]
15. Marco, So what are you saying then? You change that one and you chamge the actual grass texture too don't ya? Or am I incorrect? I'm not at home right now and can't check. But I thought that the grass files start at 1500. Or is it 1550?
16. OK fellas, here's the plan. Since there are many, many different terrain mods out there scattereed in large packs and in small one or two file downloads, I am thinking of collecting all of the mods I have installed and offering them all in one large download on my site which is almost ready to go on-line. Here's some of what I use. 1) Old Dog's Subdued Velvet Grass 2) DD's Total Foliage Pack 3) Magua's building mod* (*temporarily until Panzertroupen get's all of his done.) 4) Panzertrouppen's building mod 5) Bfamily33's Brown Stone Bridge 6) Bfamily33's Real Wheat mod with a slightly toned-down fall wheat to better blend with the toned-down velvet grass. 7) Desert Fox's Hedgerow 8) Magua's Pavement 9) Kump's snow road 10) Napolean1944's Barbed Wire and Fence mod 11) Tiger's "rough" texture and a few others that I can't seem to locate just now. IMHO, these look the best so far. Basically, DD's foliage pack on subdued velevet grass has given the best look so far. Hopefully DD and Panzertrouppen will get their mods finished soon. As far as my site goes, I reworked it the other day and put everything in table-format. It's just a matter of getting all the damned zip files in the website and publishing the whole thing on that wonderful server known as Geocities. (Check my profile for my working-URL.) Unless someone else has server space they'd liked to share. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
17.
quote:
Originally posted by Wilhammer: Hey Kitty, Have you been able to find anything out about converting the in-flight projectiles?

In-flight projectiles, unfortunately, are yet another one of those hard-coded textures. Here's a list of all the hard-coded textures: 1) Projectiles 2) Tracers 3) Grenades 4) Ground from map-edge to horizon image. 5) Berets on UK airborne and tank crewmen. 6) Bazookas, Panzerschrecks, and Piats. I think that's it, unless I forgot something. Fellas? ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha." 18. Dammit Pillar! I was just going to mention Firestone tires.
19. I think this maybe a bug, it is supposed to, and it does sometime, but not consistantly. Don't ask me why, but it just does. Hopefull it'll be fixed in this upcoming patch. Also, an immoblized vehicle sometimes doesn't fire its guns when it should be able to. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-22-2000).]
20. That is a hard question. Currently, the only other game CDs that I have handy are Baldur's Gate II and Klingon Academy, but I definately play a LOT more of CM than I do the other two games combined. I'm away from home right now, down in bayou country and I'm having withdrawal symptoms.
21.
quote:
Originally posted by Doug Beman: From Maximus & Guts: Maximus, what what version of CM are you playing? DjB

CM5: Modern Battles One can dream, can't they?
22. Sometimes the way I play is this. I use my AFVS, in teams and in standoff, and then once I bust through the first "line' of enemy AFVs, I move forward in order to get a better bead on subsequent AFVs. I this case, it's sorta line bounding overwatch, but all together. Buta again this tactic depends on terrain and objective.
