  1. What kind of suspension did they use in chariots now again?

  3. I can only find the in game interface in .tga format. The other stuff seems more coded in, though I'm not good enough with DirectX to tell how hard it is to mod eg. the models. Removing the cracked glass on the speed-o-meter was a quick fix and it should be easy to put in english descriptions for the round selector (eg. Sabot instead of BPS and HEAT instead of BKS). Making new skins for the tanks? I have no idea how to accomplish that if it's at all possible.
  4. Hey, comparing CMs editor to this one is not fair. Compare it to some similar game instead like OFP. I tried using the editor of OFP and it's slightly better looking perhaps but the interfaces are really very similar and so is the complexity. What could use some improvement is the core editor which should have some kind of wrapper around it where you can adjust basic settings that affect a lot of small details in all the subsystems. There is information overload in that department right now.
  5. That sounds bad. I've played through the whole campaign and all single player missions without a single lock-up. Maybe there's something wrong with your machine? Are the temperatures up really high mayhaps?
  6. I'm also trying to do a night game and have gotten so far as to make it very dark. The sky is black with some ominous dark clouds. The only problem now is getting the lighting on the objects better. The terrain is already very dark (barely visible). The worst part is the dust and smoke clouds that result from fire and movement, they are still too light. But I will continue messing until I get a night attack. It would be nice with a moon as well, maybe you can make the sun weak and white?
  7. I've been fiddling around in the editor to solve the problem of the ghost rock but with no succes. Remember that this is Moons attempt at a scenario, it's not official stuff. He specifically mentioned that it might not work to 100%.
  8. I'm gettin' a lot of them negative vibes in here. I too must say that framerate is quite acceptable on my A64 3000, 512 RAM, Radeon 9600. I also thought the menu system was a bit clunky at first but you get used to it, a lot of games with these kinds of graphics have even worse loading times. And I do think we are gaining performance from not having a menu in the background while playing the game. Maybe they could release a light menu with the same functions but no 3D so as to be much faster? The vehicle list can be improved but all the elements are there to make an interesting fight. This is also an area that will most likely improve. My biggest gripe is as above the interface to your own troops. It took me a while to figure out even the basic things and then there isn't much more than the basics after that. What about being able to give individual orders to individual vehicles, multiple waypoints, commanding from 'in the game' (not map) etc? The real pluses are the great realism and the vast possibilties with configs and editors. I'm right now playing around with making a true night mission and I can say that the editor is very complex but also powerfull and rather easy to use (at least if you're into the basics of programming). In this part you also appreciate the separate game engine (which is apart from the menu). Battlefield immersion is ok for me. There can be quite a lot happening around you and it's great with those missions when you limp to the victory with damaged tracks, a malfunctioning reloader and /or rangefinder. What I most want to see is true multiplayer and a better interface to own troops. (Then more WWII era vehicles so we can get some hardcore action without them lasers and missiles )
  9. Often the range finder won't work for me either when the target is too near (<~300 meters) or far away. Bad weather seems to reduce the range of the range finder substantially. You'll have to switch to manual range finding then.
  10. Yeah, I like ranging in with the MG and then setting the range manually. It's almost impossible with the HEAT rounds at longer ranges though. But HEAT seems to be slightly better at brewing up targets so I like to use it to finish off opponents.
  11. Thanks for the info on unit orders. I had missed the part about clicking on the unit you wished to order before giving the order...
  12. You drive a T55 right? I used the thermal sight to locate the gun positions and then switched to normal sight for the kill. Ranging done with the MG. This way you can engage them at extreme range before either them or your TC locates anything. You can always try a route that doesn't crawl with enemy infantry to avoid the RPGs.
  13. I got mine today in Sweden and I pre-ordered. I was a bit anxious that it had gotten lost somewhere on the way. It is a very sweet looking game indeed and I love driving around in a T-34/85. Only thing I don't quite grasp is the use of the attached forces. They seem to mill about fine by themselves though. The ensuing firefights with tracers are a beauty.
  14. No, I'd guess not. They are not trying to make a nifty looking AFV, they are striving to make a good wargame. The looks of the vehicles in CM is not my major gripe with graphics, they are pretty as they are. Infantry and terrain should get more of the attention. Remember that wargamers are not renowned for their powerfull gaming rigs!

  16. It seems BF.C has a pretty well established beta team which I'm sadly not a part of. Having a good beta team in itself is great though. And don't be sorry for the three becoming a two. They look remotely alike and both start with t ...
  17. I don't think there were specific OOBs for higher echelon units (division tops, but not above it). Another thing to note is that (at least in late 42 which is what CMMC2 simulates ) a Soviet Army was about equivalent to a German Corps. With a Soviet Corps somewhat like a big Division. Soviet Divisions were generally weaker than German ones. But the most significant thing I would expect at the Corps/Army level is more and heavier artillery. You might also find engineers, recon and perhaps separate tank/anti-tank brigades/battalions. There are most certainly good fellows around here who can give you more complete answers.
  18. Aha! Some bone dropping in this remote and not so frequented place. "In the best tradition of CM" sounds interesting, does that only pertain to the insane historical accuracy? I look forward to Drop Team anyhow. Let's hope the modding allows some interesting platforms and weapons/sensors to put on them. Fighting in odd places should be as much about tactics as about technology.
  19. Thanks a bunch! This was the kind of thing I was hoping for. I have now been KO'ed by that Leo several times. It's a really pannicky mission in the start!
  20. If it's only a file missing would it be possible to provide a hot fix then without support? Just putting the file somewhere 'unofficial' so those with at least a little computer knowledge can fix their demo in the wait for the real thing to arrive.
  21. Same thing here, no reaction at all from the Leo except the crew bailing when I hit them.
  22. At least the T-34/85 brews up easily enough. And I had the coolest engagement with the Leo in the firing range. It came almost right at me but I manage to squeeze in a shot at it's right track which fell off and caused the tank to turn to the right and thus exposing it's left side to me. Otherwise I've not seen a single instance of the Leo firing at me in the demo. What's up with that?
  23. Thanks for sharing this! Looks like the guys from TBG are a solid lot. I definitely fit the description of their target customer, for what it's worth.
  24. I usually setup and do first turn moves in PBEM and then move to TCP/IP. It just involves saving the game and then opening it with another play method. That way you can work out a plan with no concern for time.
  25. I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. But there should be plenty of technicalities to overcome before any tactical knowledge gives an advantage.
