  1. Where I can have combined armor and infantry? I select "mixed" all the time and I get various types of infantry but not mixed armor and infantry.
  2. 1967 or 73 war in Israel would be interesting. I was commenting on the staying power of this title.
  3. I guess I can see why they chose a modern conflict. They probably had a been there done that feel given CM1 CMBB CMAK. But I wonder how much staying power an imaginary conflict has for this crowd? Let's face it, most of us here will read WW2 history for the rest of our lives and never grow tired of it. So part of the joy about CMBB etc was exploring the capabilities and characteristics of WW2 weapons in a setting we also love (from an historical standpoint). Plus, there are gads of real scenarios to refight with armies closely matched in ability and weaponry. CMSF is interesting given current events, but I don't think most in the crowd here are passionate about it like WW2. Just MHO. Despite all the bugs and unrest seen in the posts, who wouldn't shell out some $$$ tomorrow if BF "shocked" us with a WW2 CM2 tomorrow?
  4. Agree here. I began the Campaign and moved at a snail's pace (not realizing the time limit). I wanted to learn as I played. Then the battle abruptly ended saying I got whacked. I don't want a click fest and a time limit leads to a click fest for me. Perhaps the time limit helps equalize the battle???
  5. It does have a lot of potential. I played a great game with my son tonight. Hotseat. Someone in another thread mentioned they miss all the individual unit info in CMBB. Seems a lot of data still undercover. Don't take this the wrong way BF but this does make me long for your CMx2 engine on WW2 battlefields. I have to learn a lot about this type of warfare, so slow is better for me now.
  6. At real time, things happen so quickly that it seems like a click-fest. I understand that things happen a lot faster now and at longer distances, but I believe your ole wego helps slow things down a bit. And, where can we get some tutorials or something on tactics for this type of warfare?
  7. Great game and it runs on my old rig... 2.6 ghz, geforce 6600 gt, 1 gig ram.. Well done!
  8. They know that there is no better day to release a product than on a Friday. Now I can't wait any longer, (I have to go to sleep) so it will have to happen for me when I get home tomorrow evening. I can't even access this site from work....they have it blocked I tried bringing my laptop but I can't access any networks...bummer. So, to everyone who gets it late tonight, early tomorrow.... ENJOY!!!!
  9. Great! And by the speed of your reply, I'd venture to guess that you too are waiting patiently for the download .
  10. If you purchase CMSF for download, will you be able to install it on several computers in the same home? Other products by digital download allow this (such as rFactor). Not sure how they do it but it allows play within a LAN at home. Just wondering.... (I did a search on this but couldn't find another thread on it.)
  11. The first time I ever looked at CM, I thought, "This game is horrible. Look at those graphics. How in the world could they sell this like this? And how in the world can someone possibly like this. I mean, three soldiers? This doesn't LOOK REAL at all." What I didn't know and didn't realize is what was occurring behind the graphics. Then, one day I came across this review.... http://www.strategy-gaming.com/reviews/combat_mission_2/index.shtml Not only do I consider this to be one of the best reviews ever written on any game, it opened my eyes and made me see what CM was all about. The problem wasn't with the sim, it was with me. Looking for another RTS, CM was horrible. When I realized what it was trying to be, my appreciation and admiration grew. There are some things that take time to appreciate, like certain foods or types of music. They take patience and even failure, and in time, you are rewarded for both. CM was that in wargames. As far as this review goes, it is difficult to tell what to make of it. Usually I look for common themes in previews and reviews. If I keep hearing the same thing over and over again, it usually means I'll have a similar opinion. But Battlefront deserves more based on their history, commitment to history and obvious desire to have their patrons use their brains. So, later tonight, when I return home, I will pre-order this new sim. This review may have some points, I don't know. But BF has a proven history and this is their jewel. So that trust will make me take the plunge.
  12. It's a good thing. I haven't won a stage yet
  13. I know little about programming but this seemed pretty easy. How do we get a blank map quickly? Also, will you supply a list of all the scripts and what they mean so we can do this a bit quicker? I did both tutorials and they were helpful btw... 14. Let's hope they are working on it. I have one lock-up a day. Otherwise my framerate is good and the graphics look great.
