  1. I have nothing against the CM engine and I know it is capable of producing great shots, I'm just saying, as you did, that it can't compete with top of the line graphics found in Lo:Mac or FarCry. Then again those games don't deal with battalions doing battle at the same time!
  2. Lets see them here, bring all your best Combat Mission screenshots and edits. No limits. Some of you may visit the IL-2 or Lo:Mac forums and notice the threads they have set up there. Now I know the CM engine isn't the most beautiful out there but with some filters it can look alright.
  3. After playing IL-2:FB (A real must for anyone slightly interested in flight siming) I have had GREAT success with the ground pounding planes. Given this is not 100% realistic I can usually pick out my target while circling 1000 meters above the target, set up my attack run accordingly and attack, sometiems multiple runs with great accuracy. I have done this with IL-2's, P-47's, P-40's, Yaks, LaGG's, FW-190, BF-109's. If you can name a flyable plane I've used it successfully in CAP missions. AA or not it's not that difficult. Ok I know it's a game and my life isn't on the line, I'm just giving you a different perspective to it.
  4. I've played this game a lot but usually with the less rare units like the T-34's and Panzer IV's in early war and Panthers of the late war but I get the urge to play with rare units like the sturmtiger or maybe something less exotic like the KV-2 or King Tiger. My rule to playing so far has been if it has a rarity below 100% then it's ok but even purchasing a unit with 70-80% rarity I feel like I am cheating the AI out of a fair game. After this rambling I just want to know if it's ok to indulge myself and buy the most rare units for the time period? P.S. GJ w/ the patch dev team, keep it up!
  5. ok I just installed the 30.82 drivers but now I can't find where to up the FSAA. When I had the most current driver (41.something) I just right clicked, went to properties, went to settings, advanced and then there was a tab for my video settings but now there isn't. Can anyone help me?
  6. If I downgrade my GeForce 4 Ti4200 128mb card to 30.82 would it affect any of my other games? These include BF1942 and GI Combat.
  7. I wanted to to set my FSAA up but when I do set it to any level then all I get is a black screen at the startup with the backround music. Any ideas?
  8. I think open terrain is supposed to cover this kind of terrain. With the game being more strategic than eye candy some things had to give in order for the dev team to put the great detail that they did into the "under the hood" components of the game. The lack of terrain tiles is one of the casualties, not in a bad way .

  10. I think the Panershreck and other weapons like the Ampulomet (sp?) are hardcodded and can't be modded.
  11. The problem is Russians not having radios in tanks at the begining of the war. Unless unbuttoned tank commanders could not communicate and even when unbuttoned, did so with hand signals, limiting the range. A grog will be along soon to correct my mistakes.
  12. Close air support was still new and from what I understand the equipment needed for this kind of action wasn't in use yet? I'm by no meens a grog so trash my post all you wish. Someone more competant will be by soon!
  13. I was under the impression that Gamey is some tactic not used by commanders in WW2.
  14. On the topic of tungsten: Do tungsten rounds have an HE charge?
