1. Hey hey hey Dago all the way nyuk nyuk nyuk Cardiff by the sea here. We should get together and raid the national guard armory down by Mesa college. I dunno, maybe borrow a tank or somefink!
2. I seem to remember something about those patches representing trails through the otherwise impassable terrain... Doesn't sound right thinking about it though.
3. Saw a panther get toasted by one in Valley of Terror It was a Pbem game between my upstart CM trainee and a full fledged board member. Ah the joys of parenting...
4. Hello As to tanks running down individuals... It's not in but, there are moral effects for having an AFV overrunning your infantry. The thing about that though is the tanks get rather skittish as well having infantry so close to them. They tend to just want to stay alive rather than dish out the pain as I envisioned them to do before hitting go. I remember getting absurd amounts of kills for my stug's and such in CC1 by running over troops. Don't think it was very realistic, but it was definitely fun

What was it, something like 15 minutes?

I had heard a number like that before also but assumed it was meant for mg gunners on bombers. Now I am curious, was the life expectancy of flyboys better or worse compared to infantry?
6. Har har, all the humor was lost after being butchered by the boys in the editing room. The original post was actually quite avant garde in it's portrayal of a WWII gamer suffering from mutiple personalities. With but a little reaching one could infer quite a bit from it's bold statements
7. Shadowbane? Isn't that to be a dungeon masters kit based on the baldurs gate engine? If it's wht I'm thinking it is, it definitely has potential.

10. Cool stuff man BTW do you write under a different name? I did a search on the service publications search engine using "Michael Dorosh" and got no responses aat all...

12. If I remember correctly, when I played that scenario it was raining. Was the weather random or set to rain or am I completely off here? Anyhow, if it was raining, I figure you would have the chance of bogging to some extant on all but paved surfaces. A railraod tile would have open ground round on either side of the rails themselves. I would assume that due to abstractions the entire hex has a chance of bogging associated with it rather than seperate formulas for being on the track or right next to it.
13. Imagine the possibilties... "excuse me dearest, but I am working here!!!" [ 08-19-2001: Message edited by: Darwin ]
14. One of my favorite pbem's games yet was when someone sent me a conscript QB for around 2000points and in a tif I spent almost all of it on wasps and 5.0 spotters (teach him to send me a conscript map) He eventually stopped sending turns
15.
quote:
Originally posted by redeker: FWIW, it seems like Combat Mission's following is largely composed of older (20+ up to retirees), fairly well-educated WWII nuts (many with military experience), with WAY too much time on their hands to post lengthy replies on this forum explaining why a) they're right, and you're wrong. (Rexford comes to mind... )

Buahaha almost made me change my sig with this one
16. As said above, BTS's responsivness to their customers has been exemplary. Poor customer service doesn't fit them at all.
17. Yeah... I think you guys might be right, Deforesting could possibly be a wee bit over the top. Debrushing or de-scattered treeing however I still like the idea but it would have to be toned way down. So much so that, other than as a nifty feature, it probably wouldn't be worth Charles time. Removing brush as a defender should be allowed for sure but we never really see brush in QB's anyhow... oh well, food for thought p.s. I went to see some bands at my old college last night and man have college girls gotten YOUNG!!! it's not fair I tell ya!
18. Hey, thats an idea! Could help offset the attackers advantage in randomly generated maps. HoW cOoL!!!
19. "why did you bother"??? You mean to make the game? or include operations? Not sure what you are reffering to but I can say that this game is not for everyone... For many of us Combat Mission is our holy grail, the end all be all of tactical WWII simulation. For us the answer is obvious, Cause it absolutely rocks! Seems like one of those if I had to explain it you wouldn't understand kind of things...
20. The thread on fire got me thinking on on how defenders would prepare the terrain to give themselves maximum advantage. So how about allowing a defender the option to convert forested tiles within his zone of control to open tiles before the battle starts? To go even further a defender in low lying terrain could possibly create a marsh in front of his positions further complicating things for an attacker. Perhaps this could be set up as a purchasable item under the fortifications tab. Open terrain tiles at 5points each, rubble tiles for 5, marsh tiles for 15points, and water tiles for 35points as a possible example. Is it feasible with CM2's code?
21. On how the mine dogs work, I remember seeing an illustration of their harness with a stick attached to a trigger protruding about a foot straight up from it. It looked to work more like a lever than as a push in kind of thing. Dog goes under tank, lever activates trigger, tank goes kaboom.
