  1. Hey Wacky, I think you would a agree if it was a map with a hills, more trees and buildngs our mobile force could possibly take out those 4 Panthers from the side or rear while our Zook teams took care of the StuGs. It would be a fine challenge but this guy took care of that threat by having such a wide-open map with little or no cover. Pity! BTW I used smoke cover to take out 2 StuGs and capture one flag before doing a ceasefire knowing something was terribly wrong with the setup. RW
  2. Just want to say I got the exact same setup from I presume the same guy. You can see the thread I started on the BoB site. http://pub61.ezboard.com/fwebandofbrothersfrm1.showMessageRange?topicID=1264.topic&start=1&stop=20 Hopefully Scipio over at the Warfare HQ will something about this guy. RW
  3. I know this was discussed many "moons" ago but I think gun and mortar crews should be given rifles and join the action as infantrymen once stripped of their gun or mortar. I hope this is being seriously looked at in CMBB. RW
  4. I think if it is a historical scenario then for sure crews should not take part in a further action, but if it is a QB where the forces are un-realistically the "best of the best" (unless chosen by the computer) in PBEM games then I would use the crews for any means.
  5. As our spiritual leader of the "Over the Hill Gang" we want to congratulate you Wild Bill on the new member of your growing family RW
  6. Like Ace, from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Drug capital on the West Coast and once upon a time home of the Grizzlies basketball team. Memphis, you can have them RW
  7. For the Germans, like Panzer Leader, the Lynx is the favourite vehicle I purchase the most. TDs are the the favourite target. For the Allies it is the Greyhound and Daimler. these "super-pests" have done well for me taking out light to medium German Panzers. RW
  8. I sure the Canadian Peso improves before CM:BB is released
  9. Could anyone tell me which .wav files are used for the Panther? I captured Panther 211's engine idling and when put into gear while at this years' Carrousel in Saumur, France and would like to put it in the game. Many thanks RW
  10. A lot of really great comments on this thread. Ever since I was a young lad I had this love affair with the Panther but don't tell my Wife Most Grognards have seen my site but if you haven't seen my Panther site here is the URL: http://members.tripod.com/~dietmagic/panther.html RW
  11. Is the "B" group nearly filled yet? Somehow I missed the initial "A" group signup. RW
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>I still think Wittman was killed by a rocket from a British Hurricane Franko. And so did his old gunner, Bobby Woll. -Head <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Bobby Woll was not in Tiger 007 the day it was knocked out. He was given command of his own Tiger Tank in August '44; was wounded and was fit for duty in March '45 and fought on to the end of the war. After the war he became an electrician and recently died in 1996. RW
  13. I think there are a few excellent "Villars Bocage" scenarios with Michael Wittman. I could be wrong, but from what I have seen on other posts is that poor Michael does not survive often. From watching the recent documentary on Michael Wittman this man used a lot of intuition and "gut" feeling on where his opponent would be and this led to a lot of his successes; something a great game like CM cannot portray. RW
  14. I also had a tankfest on a really huge map. What was interesting in my battle was my PBEM opponent winning one end of the map and I the other. It now became a "long" battle with long range tank duels instead of the usual "wide" map with shorter range tank duels. Something I can look forward to with CM2. Just hope QBs in CM2 will allow for setups on the longer ends of the map RW
  15. When I was in Hamburg on vacation and playing a hotseat game of CM I picked off a Ostwind at 200 metres with a Piat which I earlier kept moaning how bad shots they are. He did have his CO nearby which helped. This game sure does have its surprises RW
  16. I just got back from France visiting Normandy and the Musee Des Blindes Tank Museum in Saumur. In July Saumur holds a Carrousel where you can get to see a King Tiger, Panther and others crank up their engines and actually move around a large infield! I plan to go next year myself. So with the Tank Fest in Bovington cancelled Saumur is the place to go http://www.musee-des-blindes.asso.fr/blindes/som.htm RW
  17. I noticed when I run Bazooka and Piat Anti-tank teams the piat Teams quickly become tired while the Zook teams can go a bit longer before tiring. Is the piat and ammo that much heavier to cause the teams to tire faster than their Bazooka team counterparts (or maybe they are just not in better shape).
  18. I got this info sent to me by email: Quote Platinum award for Sudden Strike- End of February, CDV Software received the highly acclaimed Platinum Award of VUD for 200 000 sold copies of the RTS-game Sudden Strike in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. "Having received this award shortly before the release of the official add-on Sudden Strike Forever, on the 6th of April 2001, underlines the importance of this award to us and is at the same time a huge motivation to continue on the road for success also for Sudden Strike Part II, "Claudia Rieflin, PR Director for CDV Software, explains. "The background that this high-demanding RTS-game proved to be a blockbuster put many critics right." Link: http://www.suddenstrike.com/english/news end quote. With the Sudden Strike success in Europe I was wondering how well CM did in sales over in Europe since it is a far superior game in my estimination? RW
  19. I had my bout with Trojans two weeks ago. I now have the T Innoculate free virus scanner which is constantly updated and is very good at getting rid of viruses and worms. Also, Zone Alarm which was recommended to me on the CM chat has helped to keep my computer free of these nasty viruses RW
  20. I think the a, b, m system is great especially when you have to zip up the bigger files to send..you know the "a" file will be small and does not need to be zipped up. I'm over 50 and even I can understand this system Arien, I'll get to our game tomorrow..the Wife has given me a project to do. RW
  21. Instead of "mine-dogs" these critters would use "mine-squirrels" I bet
  22. I always know where to get the info I need. Thanks guys RW
  23. I have PC100 ram in my computers. Someone told me it is not good to mix PC100 and PC133 ram. Is this true? It is getting harder to find PC100 ram anymore. RW
  24. This site gives some general data on the Neubaufahrzeug German Medium tank. Does anyone have further info on this tank and whether it saw action in World War Two? http://www.onwar.com/tanks/germany/fneubau.htm Thanks RW
  25. Thanks guys for all the valuable information. I also heard that a personal firewall can be downloaded from http://www.freedom.net/ that can help. Yes, the black orifice trojan can be delivered thru some online games..I received this virus I remember while playing Close Combat and that is why my concern with playing CM online. RW
