  1. For old farts like me I cannot keep anymore with the AI in real time games. Whereas in Close Combat games I can because of the option to slow the real time speed down. Any chance of an option to slow the real time movements down in CMBN?. With multiple units it is just impossible to keep up with the AI.
  2. Well done Patrick. Ranks up there with the simulations used in the "Greatest Tank Battles" series on the History Channel. CMx2 is a great engine to work with.
  3. Doing a random QB, WITH THE LATEST PATCH, I got a mech force including halftracks and Stuarts. Weather was pouring rain. Moving slowly on the road 8 out of 22 AFVs bogged and then become immobilized in the first 8 minutes of the game. I off loaded the rest of the Halftracks. All infantry is now on foot. Even 3 out of the 6 Stuarts bogged and became immobilized on the muddy road. Haven't seen so many AFVs bog and become immobilized since the demo game of CMBO.
  4. I vote yes. Similar way to Close Combat pause where both sides agree and where both sides hit the pause button. Usually in emergency situations. It did not happen too much in CC.
  5. They say football (soccer) is the beautiful game. It has competition as the Battle for Normandy (CMBN) is also the beautiful game. I showed the game to my friend who has been depressed for some time. With his precise military knowledge of WW2 I took a chance and played CMBN with him and now he is in love with the game. You can now see the twinkle of joy back in his eyes. Thank you BF. Well done!
  6. I have the same trap error when I installed ToW on my HP laptop using the imbedded Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset. It looks like their is Open GL support with the graphic card when I installed the GPU Caps Viewer v1.5.2. which displays the main OpenGL capabilities. Oh well, it worth the try. A bummer I cannot play the game when I travel though. Rob
  7. Maybe keep it simple for ToW1 like in the Close Combat series and CM. I think most of us can live with that and the designers work on the true realism for ToW2. I agree, if we support ToW well the chances of a Tow2 will be enhanced greatly cheers Rob
  8. My Congratulations to the Battlefront and IC staff..the wait is nearly over. Now I know what my Wife can get me for my birthday in April cheers Rob
  9. I just tried the 1280 x 1024 screen and I get more stretch on my Dell 22in Monitor than the 1400 x 1050 screen. My desktop works great at 1680 x 1050. Again, just wish Battlefront would dp something with their resolution preferences to include 1680 x 1050 if the monitor is setup that way for maximum performance. Rob
  10. It seems 1400 x 1050 pixels is the highest resolution CMBB and CMAK offers. My 22 inch Dell Monitor is set to 1680 x 1050 pixels and my windows graphics look great. Just wish Battlefront can update the resolution preferences to 1680 x 1050. Cheers Rob
  11. Regarding Radeon Cards. I recently purchased a X1300 Card. It is nice and fast but disppointing that still there is no fog-table emulation and no foggy games. I downloaded an ATi Tray tool tweak and using advanced tweaks I ticked off Fog-table but still no fog in my games. Rob
  12. If I remember Customs was into a Work to Rule Slowdown when CMBB was shipping to add for the lengthy delay many of us got the game. Let's hope it will faster this time with CMAK but then the Post Office will probably delay the delivery this time since they are in a contract hassle. Just keep your fingers and toes crossed fellow Canuckies that it will arrive in a week. Rob
  13. I have the same problem with my Athlon 1100 using XP recognizing my Celeron 1000 that is using Win98se but bot the other way around for LAN networking. The one good thing is that my Linksys router does give each computer a DHCP IP address. I have 192.168.1.100 for the Athlon and 192.168.1.101 for the Celeron. Of course, both computers have their own hostname. I am glad CMBB works well with the LAN connections and CMBB recognizes the IP addresses, but still puzzled why I still cannot do other forms of networking even with full sharing capability on. Rob
  14. Howdy! Got my 2 copies of CMBB yesterday. Luckily I had the $25.68 the postman wanted from me. Exact change or no package. Outrageous how much the government slaps on for duty and taxes. I got this note inside my package which explains why it is taking so long for our copies to arrive here in Canada: "YOUR PACKAGE HAS BEEN EXAMINED because a declaration was not found on the outside or because the declaration was incomplete. To expedite future shipments, please advise your exporter to provide a declaration that includes the value and complete description of the contents" I will have to let Battlefront know about this. Hope the rest of you guys get your copies soon... Rob Vancouver
  15. With the Canadian Customs Officers slow down starting today any CMBB games stuck at the border will stay stuck there I am afraid. I think that is mine is at gathering dust. I hope not but that is a fear I definitely have. RW
  16. I read from you on this board somewhere of first uninstalling the old drivers before installing newer graphic drivers. I did not do that with the older drivers and maybe there was a conflict causing freeze ups in CMBO and the TCP/IP in CMBB. Anyway, glad the 3082 drivers work fine for me now Cheers Rob
  17. Hi, I finally got it work by uninstalling the Ge Force Graphic Drivers and installing the newer drivers 4.13.01.3082. The TCP/IP came in without any freezing. It was strange before that only the TCP didn't work but the PBEM and solitaire worked (but I did notice the odd freezing during gammeplay). I use ADSL high speed internet BTW. I just hope it continues to work. I guess those older Drivers were a problem as I also got the occassional game freeze in CMBO. Cheers RW
  18. I cannot understand why the TCP/IP portion of the CMBB demo freezes as soon as I get to the part to put in your password or IP address (if connecting to someone). You put in the password or IP address and when you click OK it picture freezes and I have to do aCtrl+Alt+Del to reboot. I tried re-installing the demo a few times including Directx 8.1 and the same occurs. Any ideas what is the problem? I have a: AMD Athlon 1.1 Ghz Processor Asus A7A133 Socket A M/B w/Ali chipset Nvidea Geforce2 MX 400 Video card ver. 4.13.01.2942 drivers Creative SB Live Sound card 639 MB Memory Using Directx 8.1 and Windows 98 SE Thanks RW
  19. That's a great clip. Looks like a Tiger was also in that movie. Got a Panther movie clip also showing the speed of the big 'Cat: http://user.7host.com/rwcanuck//Hpanth2.mpg RW Rob's Panther Page
  20. I was fortunate to tape the sound of Panther 211 at the Carrousel in Saumur, France last Summer. Separate sounds for some tanks would be nice Maybe others have taped the engine of that Panther or the T34/85 in Minneapolis (http://www.tankride.com/tankride.html) where you can go for a tank ride. BTW my Panther engine sound can be found at my Pather site: http://snow.prohosting.com/~rwcanuck/panther211.html RW
  21. Thanks for the response Schrulle. I take it you just allocate what computers' LAN IP address you want to do the the IP forwarding to ports 7023 and 7024 with no DHCP disabling? I have read that disabling the DHCP and assigning a new static LAN IP Address go hand in hand. RW
  22. I am having the same problems with my Linksys Cable/DSL Router. CM is only recognizing my LAN IP address and not my WAN IP address when I try an online game. I tried the IP Forwarding as suggested and from reading my Linksys manual but when I disable the DHCP I lose all networking ability. Sort of at a lost of what to do now. RW
  23. I was very unhappy with my Gigabyte socket 370 motherboard and Celeron 600 processor so I upgraded to an Asus ATX Motherboard and Athlon Thunderbird 1.1 G processor. My Geforce2 MX400 card works so nice with the upgraded computer. btw I use the 23.xx drivers for the NVidea card and they work great. CMBO runs so smooth now!! I also have 650mb of RAM so I'm ready for CMBB when it comes out hopefully for my birthday in April RW
  24. Also agree, enough said on this thread and I would propose the Clubs put in their rules that the same QB should NOT be sent out to various club members by one member which could lead to this sort of controversy. As with Wacky I also apologize to Deadly 88 for any mis-understanding and bringing his name out in the open as I realize he now knows his mistake. By taking away those wins will be the best way to handle it. I agree with Scipio. I feel, as what was brought up in the BoB Club, that if someone wants to play random setup QBs (which can be a lot of fun) then after the sides are discussed that 3 setups are sent to the other opponent who can decide which one to play if he so wishes. This to me is the fairest way to go. RW
  25. Deadly 88 seemed like a nice fellow to talk to by email. To bad he had to resort to such low-handed tactics to win a game. I wonder what Scipio will do with him? RW
