  1. While my better computer is still out for repairs I am running the beta demo on my P200 mmx machine with 128 ram but only a 4 mb 3d video card. I know I have graphic limitations but what is annoying is when a box appears telling me that reinforcements arrived or any of the others boxes (ie. surrender, etc.) the game freezes and I have to reboot the computer Has anyone else experienced this or is it my machine because of the 4 mb video card? Other than that the game runs smooth and is a treat to play such a great game. RW
  2. For Movement, can you move more than one unit at a time instead of clicking on every unit singularly..I got used to do doing this in CC3 by just sweeping with the right-hand mouse. Is there a way to do it in CM? Also, I noticed when my Tiger crashed thru a wall the wall did not show any damage afterwards. Maybe it is because I am using my slower computer with no 3D Voodoo card while my main computer is out for repairs. Even on my slower computer (P200mmx) I am impressed with the game so far RW
  3. Although CC3-WF is still in Alpha the guys who put together the Western Front mod for CC3 have done a great job. While waiting for the CM beta demo to come out and if you have CC3 try out this mod at: http://www.tez.net/~reaper/home1.html BTW I think the CM demo maybe an October 31st Halloween treat for all of us
  4. Congrats to both Fionn and Moon for a well played game. Reading those AAR's was like watching a movie unfold. Those AAR's were widely read..even a lot of the Gamestats folks were anxiously following the battle unfold! Again, great work guys, and how about an encore performance soon? RW
  5. I recently saw a German Movie called "The Bridge" about a squad a young German soldiers late in the war who's job was to hold a bridge..in one scene a German soldier fires a PF from inside a building knocking out a Sherman and at the same time the backblast from the PF killed a man instantly that was unfortunately standing in the path of the blast.
  6. As reported on the Gamers net news: http://204.85.35.5/newswire.html My own personal feeling is the way Steve and Charles are going about it with an OPEN CM beta is the best solution to avoid the unfortunate developments that has beseiged Atomic/SSi over there CC4 beta. RW
  7. This might have been mentioned before but at the conclusion of the game what can we expect to happen? Will CM display the type of victory (whether decisive or marginal) or draw? Will there be a video like in Steel Panthers and CC showing medals being presented. Will there be like in CC2 and 3 the total number of kills for each soldier and crew member and medals? Or does CM show something completely different when a game ends? Thanks RW
  8. A good source for scenarios is ASL..I did a few for CC3 and Steel Panthers. RW
  9. Top games I am waiting for are of course number one Combat Mission. Others that I have some interest in, but need to play the demos before even thinking about getting them are: Close Combat 4 Panzer Elite Steel Panthers 4 and the latest one, Sudden Strike! Check out the screenshots of this real-time WW2 strategy war game: http://www.cdv.de/ The only game I am playing now is Close Combat 3 with the Real Red realistic player modification. RW
  10. Thanks guys for the info on this oddball Panther...Germans must have been experimenting to see if the Mark 4 turret could hold more radio equipment than the Panther turret..cannot see what other reason unless there was a back order of Panther turrets at that given time.
  11. From my Panther web site I got an email from someone asking the following question....if anyone has some info on this Panther conversion could you let me know? thanks "Some times ago I've read about a conversion on a Panther fitted with bolted PzKpfw IV Ausf H's turret which served as a command tank of schwere Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung 653 on the Eastern Front in early/mid of 1944. Well I'd like to know if you have some more informations about it." RW
  12. If someone wanted to get CM as a pre-paid Xmas gift is it possible? Or, are we looking at the New Year sometime as a more realistic date before us gamers have this beautiful game in our hands?
  13. I agree with Fionn. We were witnessed to a few glowing reviews about CC3 before it was released that got many of us running out to the Stores to buy the game only to find out the AI was ineffective, unrealistic units (thank goodness for Real Red!) and a major multiplayer connection problem. The best reviews are from "us" the gamers and thus a review by Fionn and others on this board about CM is much more rewarding, and that is what sparked my personal interest in the game. My 2 cents RW
  14. Has any of the beta testers tried out the modem aspect of the game? Will modem play be possible when the public beta comes out? Thanks RW
  15. I work for a major airline company in Canada and everything should be Y2K compliant beore the end of the year...Thousands were spent to get our A320 Airbuses Y2K compliant since this Aircraft basically flies by a computer. But..you will not find me in the air come January...it is airport traffic control systems that worry me more than luggage getting lost! In Canada the military has been told by Parliament to be on alert in case of emergencies brought about by Y2K come this January. In January as long as I have power to my computer to play CM I'll be happy
  16. sorry..I mean't after my last reply but no matter how much hatred there is, there is an equal amount of kindness that mankind possesses to hekp others in wartime and in other calamaties.
  17. Whether it was this century or centuries past there have been vicious acts of cruelty...what the next century will bring is anyone's guess but I believe the way mankind behaves there will be more of the same
  18. Hi, I have the voodoo 1 in my Pentium 200mmx machine...will that work alright with CM?
  19. Well, we have the Rugby World Cup starting soon and can cheer on our favourite country while we wait for CM....go Canada!!!
  20. This I know must of been discussed before but will CM allow internet online play as does the turn-based game Steel Panthers 3 or is it strictly PBEM?
  21. Do we use the honour system with PBEM games in CM? With SP I remember cheating on PBEM games was a number one concern....I myself had to pick and choose who my opponents were through trial and error to find the ones I could trust.
  22. A famous quote from that zany movie "Kelly's Heroes" "..To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some sort of weird sandwich, not some nut that takes on three tigers."
  23. I do not think that was an MG42 in SPR judging from the rate of fire sound you here...I think it is the MG3 which came out with a lower rate of fire after the war but looks very similar. The MG42 has the correct sound in CC3..that is why it has been referred to as the "Canvas Ripper"
  24. I started out with miniatures..even played a whole campaign in Sicily! Next came the baord games from Avalon Hill but never got really into ASL though. My first computer games were on my Atari 64 such as Eastern Front, Hellcat Ace, and Battle of Midway. My first PC brought me such games as SP and SP2 which I really enjoyed, especially SP. CC1 was ok but really got hooked on CC2 but all the bad connections and poor AI with CC3 turned me off that game..though Real Red has regained my interest in CC3. I am really looking forward to CM and to a lesser extent CC4.
