1. I did delete the prefs file. The refresh rate is 60. I checked and so far as I can tell that is the only one available. I am using a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. I upgraded the dx and video driver. The flickering is horizontal lines that flicker only in the 3d game part.
 2. I'm trying to figure out and get help with a flickering problem that started when I updated drivers. I got one reply and was going to write for a clarification when I noticed the topic was closed. What did you do that for? Don't you want me to solve the problem?
 3. I just updated dx to 9b and also updated my dell nvidia geforce2 driver and now cm flickers really bad. Anybody know the problem and how to fix it?

 5. Maybe you don't want to say. It's the end of June and I keep looking for the v4 demo to give it a whirl.
 6. Of course I'll try the demo. I guess I'm just a bit disappointed after seeing the sample map picture and then finding out it's only for mp.
 7. Hmmmmm, ok. Here's a question. I never play multi only sp. Since the maps are the same and there are no new scenarios, what reason would I have to buy ver4?
 8. So the maps against the ai are the same as ver3?
 9. Very nice. My $25 is waiting. And I like your new site.
 10. If you like the Sudden Strike format, there are a couple of mods available to make it more realistic. Not anything like CM of course but much better. The one I use is Allied Power, a free 50 meg download.
 11. Redwolf, you're full of crap. To everyone else, thank you for your responses. I guess I'll have to continue with mediocre scrolling or spring for a new system.
 12. I just changed from a voodoo3/2000 (16 meg) to a riva tnt2 (32 meg) for my k62-400. I expected scrolling, especially on large and huge scenarios, to be much better but noticed no difference. It's still slow and choppy. Anybody know the problem? Also, every once in a while, the computer locks up requiring a hard boot. Anybody know the problem here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 13. I tried to take a look at this scenario and it only opened in a very small window. Do you know what the problem is? Also, I read there will be a 4.0. Can you tell me what it will entail and about when it will arrive? Thank you.
 14. Thank you. That's nice. It significantly adds to the replayability of each scenario and therefore to the game itself.
 15. Does the computer set up its units in the exact same place each time a scenario is played or does it place units (in the black rectangle) differently each time?
 16. Suppose you were to make some sp scenarios from the other maps included with tacops, like a meeting engagement, delay and attack with each map. That would add 45 or more new scenarios but more important would allow for all those maps to be used in sp. Then you could charge maybe $10 for the add-on on a download.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Runyan99: I played the Arnhem operation, but I found it pretty ahistorical, both in terms of the map, and the units involved. It is also exceedingly difficult for the British player in PBEM play.

Not too surprising. It was pretty difficult for the British player in real life too.
 18.
quote:
The U.S. and OPFOR player can choose different setup areas by first selecting the "Options/CPX Mode" menu item or by first selecting the "Options/Ignore Setup Limits" menu item.

Well, I went ahead and ordered but still have one more question. If I choose the "Ignore setup limits" in a sp game, will the opfor typically set its units in areas different from their black box area? Or is this just more for me?
 19. First, all these questions relate to sp since I never play multi. So far as I can tell there is no way to make a scenario with a map other than those 15 that are already in sp scenarios. So any others that are included in the game or posted online would be useless to me. Also there is no way to change opfor units/locations or the setup boxes for any new scenarios. Is this correct? If so, why not? Obviously, there is a way to make new sp scenarios since they are included in the game. There must be some sort of editor that was used to create them. So why not include it in the game or offer it as an additional product? Since this is so important I assume it's been discussed ad nauseum already but I would appreciate it if you would answer again.
 20. I use demos to evaluate products. If I don't care for the demo, it comes off my hard drive. If I like it then I buy the game. Didn't like BCT at all but, except for a couple of things, I do like tacops and will likely order it in the next couple of days. So I'm not concerned that the maps don't work in the demo. But one very important thing I look for in a game is replayability and all those extra maps certainly add to that. And that's why I asked about them.
 21. Hello. I recently downloaded the demo and am seriously considering purchasing. So, could you folks please tell me what extra maps you're talking about?
 22.
quote:
The trick is to burn down your hard drive at regular intervals (nothing extreme, every 6 months or so) and reinstall Windows.

Yeah, I already do that. I keep all my drivers and files on zip disks but it still takes me a couple of full days to accomplish the task.
quote:
Another soultion is to try Windows 2000.

I agree with Madmatt. Win2000 is not a gaming os. My son worked for Microsoft and he raved about it. So I tried several games on his machine. Some worked and some wouldn't even install. Even though he could get it for me for $20 I kept my old reliable win98, first edition.
quote:
I seem to recall Maximus saying a while back that his 1.3 Ghz Athlon chugs a bit on the biggest CMBO maps

Now THAT is interesting.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: Time to bite the bullet and upgrade Rich. We all gotta do it sometime.

Sometime?? Like I said in a previous post I've been buying new computers and upgrading for 20 years. From an apple IIplus to an apple IIe to an apple IIgs to a 386/25 to a 386/40 to a 486 to a k6-2/300 to my present system a k6-2/400. If I never buy another computer game or download another scenario, I have enough to more than keep me busy for the rest of my life and then some. I just don't see any compelling reason to upgrade again. I'm much more interested in squad level battles on the west front than the east anyway and have enough CM scenarios/battles (with the random generator) to last a lifetime. So I think I'm going to leave things the way they are. I wish BTS all the success in the world with cm2 but I suspect I'm going to pass on it.
