  1. Actually I use nhancer. You can set each game separately. And there are more settings. I became very familiar with nvidia settings while playing flight simulator. That's a sim that requires a lot of tweaking. But I'll look at yours and likely I'll learn something new. I use xp pro and have a rezexplode folder in mod tools. But all it has is an empty "input" folder and a rezexplode.exe file.
  2. I have a geforce 7600 superclock 512 meg. And I would never have guessed it because scrolling is totally smooth but going from improved to better causes the problem. I don't have shadows on but need to keep aa on due to horrible shimmering that the aa corrects. I get the same thing in flight simulator and think it's my card but at least it can be fixed. I've tried different drivers but no fix so I just use the latest. I'd like to try the windows cursor and think that might solve the problem on higher levels. Where is this exploded folder where the ingame cursor is located? I can't find it at all. Thanks.

  4. I'm having a problem with a jerky cursor in the game. Otherwise everything is smooth. I tried both choices in options and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I think if I can somehow use the standard windows mouse cursor instead of the green game cursor it might work better. Does anyone know how I can mod this? Or does anyone know how I can get the in game cursor to work smoother? thanks.
  5. I saw a bunch of new quick battle maps. No mention of whether these are new Marines only or will be better replacements for everything.
  6. I'm wondering if the pdf manual will be a combined SF original + Marines or just a Marines supplement. Also, will it be printer friendly? Thanks.
  7. Finally got to watch the video and it looks like a nice game. Very very different from Empire Deluxe imo. There's a company killerbeesoftware.com that updated ED (which didn't have the ability to change values) and also came up with an enhanced version (which does). Anyhow, I think this game, with wego, research, trading, etc is real nice. Hopefully it can be played sp without the server. That would be a killer for me.
  8. I found a free mp4 player and codec on the internet. Should have just done that in the first place. Will this work in single player without accessing the server? Just work in the game?
  9. hmmm, it doesn't work on my wmp ( I believe I have the latest) and I don't like real player even the free one. I'll have to check around.

  11. I've played real time war games before. But not for very long. One of the big hassles for me was moving the view from one area to another to keep checking on what was going on everywhere at once. Or pausing constantly to do this. Imo wego is the best way. Of course, opinions will vary.
  12. The error was in my explanation. I did select each separately. I'll look at your tutorial more closely but it seems to answer my question and I appreciate it. Combatintman, no problem. I differentiate tactics (how to play the game) with game mechanics like how the game itself works but I now get your meaning. Pete, I picked that scenario as my first to play because it was at the top of the alphabetical list LOL. It looks like a lot of fun now that I know how to dismount infantry.
  13. Nope. That's the first place I looked. There are hotkeys for choosing commands in each section but that's it.
  14. harping? I'm not harping. It's not tactics, it's how the game works and it's not explained in the manual. I could try stuff for the next month and never figure it out. But it looks like handihoc has the answer. TO handihoc, thanks for the info. I'll give that a try. Bailout is for the crew. Dismount is used for passengers and the order can be given to the vehicle (all passengers) or to individual passengers. Not allowing this order after a move order or at a waypoint is kind of weird.
  15. That's right. So we get back to my original question in another thread. How can I give a vehicle a movement order with a dismount at the end of the movement? Others have said to give the vehicle the movement and the infantry the dismount but as we just saw that's not possible. Also, do you know about the second of my questions above?
  16. Started playing A Bridge Too Far. Wanted to move the Strykers toward the bridge and have the infantry dismount at the end of the move. Impossible. The dismount button was dimmed for the strykers and infantry as soon as I gave the movement order. The button didn't come back on even after movement stopped. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Or is this a bug? Also, is there any way to assign my own buttons to the four categories, M C S A?
  17. You might try getting a free program called nhancer. It adds a lot of settings to nvidia cards. There's stuff that can make things better. You can use separate settings for each game. For example you might want to add aa/multi at the highest setting while maintaining that in the game. Or at least make sure it's set on "application." Try some anisotropic. Try lod bias clamping. Also try defragging your hard drive. There's a program, a little pricey at $40, called Ultimate Defrag that does a much better job. I'm not experiencing this problem and my rig is far from top of the line.
  18. Well this is ok. It never occurred to me to give the infantry a dismount order (rather than the vehicle) and it would take place at the end of the vehicle movement. Thanks to everyone for the info. It does seem logical that a vehicle should be able to add a dismount order at any waypoint, even to choose which unit(s) should get off. This should be easy to implement since dismount is already an order that vehicles can give and being able to give additional orders at each waypoint is already part of the game.
  19. Is there any way to disable the automatic playback in wego? Is there any way to add dismount at the end of a move order in wego? Those little blue circles tend to vibrate when strykers move. Any clue on cause and how to stabilize them? Thanks,
  20. I went through the same disappointment as you a few days ago. The QB system is totally different and not nearly as good. The game picks from premade maps that are in the qb folder, and most seem very plain without any character. You can get many more maps on the last page at cmmods. Plus you can get about 100 pre-made scenarios. And some nice mods.
  21. When I bought cmbo I got this nice collectible drawing of a tank. Then it went on sale in the bfc store. Maybe they can offer the pdf as a download for $5 or so.
  22. Just bought cmsf which I think ties in nicely with tacops so I'm looking over the forum. Saw this thread again and thought I'd comment because I had a question about it last year and it wasn't totally resolved in my mind. Anyway I bought a new hard drive a month ago and installed tacops and there was no call for a number whatsoever. So whatever that thing was before it was my mistake. Too bad bfc doesn't have your philosophy regarding protection. Cmsf uses the elicense scheme.
  23. I'm starting to get a feel for the quick battles. Looked at a few maps and they all seem similar, really very generic. Nothing to get excited about. Did some research and it looks like a high priority for bfc is improving the qb system. I also found out how to use the qb4 at cmmods. You set up a separate folder and can choose force size for all large maps. And I understand what you're saying re scenarios. I had already been to cmmods and downloaded ALL they have. Along with some interesting looking mods. That should keep me busy for a while. I never thought I'd like the modern as much as ww2 but the Syrian conflict is interesting because it somewhat models what our soldiers and marines have been going through in Iraq the last few years. Well, I played cmx1 since it came out and it looks like time to upgrade.
  24. Ok, I took out all the original qb maps. Then I put in all the qb maps that I downloaded. Went to play a qb and got the same generic map - on large and medium - that I had in the first place. So how do I get different qb maps in the game, better yet how do I choose my map and how do I choose my force size?
