  1. I don't believe I'm out of line. Last night was the first time I ever saw the sig. There was nothing to indicate that it was anything other than what it said. You say it was obvious but not at all to me. I don't know Stalin's Organist or anything about him. His comments came across as sincere. But if you folks, who obviously know him, say otherwise then I'll go along. Islam is trying its very best to finish what Hitler started. When I see something that looks like Islamist propaganda, I will speak out. Since that doesn't appear to be the case here, I retract what I said.
  2. Ah. Really? A bit of sarcasm? Interesting.
  3. Perhaps if you were a polite sort of person you might have messaged me off-line to ask me why I have mine. I am typically polite. Except when I come across islamist propaganda in a place where it doesn't belong. Regardless of your reasons, it is totally offensive and should be removed.
  4. This is a gaming forum. I'm just as much a customer as anyone else here and I don't appreciate coming on the forum and greeted by muslim propaganda. So how about removing it and I won't make disparaging remarks about Mohammad.
  5. There is no compulsion in religion. Q'ran 2:256 Whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve. Q'ran 18:29 Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion. Q'ran 109:6 Since Islam is in the process of a worldwide jihad, how come they don't believe their own Q'ran? Or maybe this isn't the place for my comment or your quotes?
  6. One would hope DIF won't go out of business. But look at Strategic Simulations. Look at Microprose. And many others. Heck, look at Enron. Nobody can make a blanket statement about a company not going out of business for sure. Now, that isn't a game breaker for me. Just that I'd rather have everything necessary to play the entire game.
  7. Ok. I'll redownload the demo today and give it a try. I would recommend changing the reqs for the demo to avoid confusion. The main thing I don't like about online reqs is what if the company goes out of business? Imo, it would be better to be able to download the campaigns and have an option to post pilot stats.
  8. Well, since I uninstalled the game I don't have a log. Basically when I started I got a window that said the program needs to close. And the screen flickered. I pressed ok in the window and the game closed. I can redownload the game and try again. Couple questions. I have .net 2.0 and the demo req says 1.1 or later so I didn't install 1.1. Just noticed the game reqs say 1.1 only. So do I need 1.1 also or is 2.0 ok? Maybe that's the problem. Do I need to be online when I play? Couldn't quite understand the reqs. Can I have everything on my hd so I can play offline if I don't want to do multi?
  9. Since nobody bothered answering, I uninstalled the demo and will forget about trying out and probably buying this game.
  10. I get a Problem/needs to close window and the screen flickers.
  11. Imo, CMAK handles urban warfare better than any game I've ever seen. And I've played the game or demo for a lot of them. It's way better than Steel Panthers. Also better than Silent Storm I believe. And certainly head and shoulders above the first game that tried to do this, Computer Ambush about 25 years ago. Is it perfect? No. Could it be improved if the devs really wanted to? Probably. But I can't think of any game at all that's better. And, frankly, I enjoy urban warfare in the game a lot.
  12. For me this will make the difference between "will I buy it or will I continue to play cmak." Also wondering what all theaters this will include. Pacific for example? Or can this be easily moddable to include the PTO?
  13. Bigger monitor? I just bought this one a couple weeks ago. It's 19 inch and basically I like it just fine. I'm starting to understand the combat graphics and sounds so am not as concerned about the font size anymore. Or the movement speed. There might be a miscommunication on the tool tips. Why does the program have to constantly check the current mouse position against the position of every unit? Seems like there would be a way to activate the tip when the pointer is on a unit pretty easily since many other games use this without a problem. The new Empire Deluxe is an example. There could easily be more than a thousand units on the map but having tool tips doesn't slow anything down. And they are very helpful. Just a suggestion. Basically I'm liking the game very much.
  14. Took advantage of the dd sale and finally got the tacops package. Been thinking about it for a while. Here're some questions and a suggestion. I run windows at 1280x1024, my monitor's native resolution. This is good because I can see a large portion of the map and the detail is sharp and clear. But the type at the bottom is small. Is there a way to increase font size? Is there a way to slow unit movement in the combat phase? (already found the adjustment to slow combat) Is there a way to view the combat phase more than once? An idea for the next patch: Have tool tips for units. So if you simply put the mouse on the unit it will show the same info at the bottom as if you clicked on it. Good on the game map and setup box.
  15. I guess I'm one of the oldest at 60. Got into computer wargaming with the first ones from SSI like Bismarck, Napoleon and Ambush. Played Flight Commander years ago and thought the wego system would work great on a ww2 squad level. And then, there it was. They must have been reading my mind. I still have the tank print they gave away for pre-ordering cmbo.
  16. Well, that's good. I'm just trying the demo now. Kinda reminds me of Pacific General updated and expanded. So far I like it.
  17. If I just buy the disk option, can it be played without the disk in the drive?
  18. I read where this was running short but saw no posts that they were out. Went to order and the front page said there were still copies available but there seemed no way to order. Are there any copies left?
  19. Seattle? No wonder you're having problems. Everybody's at Starbucks having lattes.
  20. Yeah, I already had. The file you sent didn't seem to work very well in my word processor, which is Open Office. I sent you a reply. Looks like that file came from a pdf to word converter. I tried one of those to no avail.
  21. The manual has 213 pages. How do you get only 85? Bottom line is it's going to take someone with a pdf editor and about 5 minutes to do the job.
  22. You're kidding, right? To have 200+ color pages printed at Kinkos or a similar location would be way more than a color cartridge, which is about $25.
  23. Oh sure. And do you have any idea what that costs? (shakes head) I've been looking online for a pdf editor. They're all at least $50-100. So far as I can tell there are no free ones. And I still feel that since the game didn't come with a manual, the least BFC can do is provide a pdf file that is suitable for printing without using a whole color cartridge. I really don't think that's an unreasonable request.
  24. Well, I don't think it's asking too much for BFC to take out the brown borders and background to make the manual suitable for printing.
  25. I have the small booklet that came with the game and would like to print the entire manual, with images. All it would take is getting rid of the brown border and light tan background from each page. If BFC (or anyone with an Adobe program, really) could do that it would be nice.
