  1. Thanks for the advice, SlapHappy. I've already tried the MS hotfix with no noticeable difference in performance, unfortunately. The difference in framerates can be drastic. For example, in the Al Hawl scenario with everything set to 'best', I can get anywhere from >100 down to 4-5 FPS depending on what's in my camera's FoV. Mike
  2. Operating System: Win XP 32-bit SP2 Media Center edition, Version 2002 Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3.2GHz (overclocked) RAM: 4GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 667MHz nVidia card model: dual GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB nVidia driver version: 6.14.10.9794 A couple issues, including: - slow framerates - intermittent flashes of black on parts of landscape - targeting arc does not indicate line-of-sight blockage - when replaying, wall/building rubble/damage is already showing before it actually occurs - occasional 'floating' infantry which glide along ground - excessive camera shaking when viewing an explosion up close Mike
  3. Yes, I've seen the same thing. Very annoying. I have an nVidia 8800GTX card. Maybe it's a graphics card thing? Mike
  4. Some, but hoping it reaches 'yes' after a patch or two. Mike
  5. Mac1234, I've been experiencing the same 'invincibility' with that scenario. Multiple direct javelin hits with no apparent effect. At first, I thought it had something to do with the tank in 'reverse slope' when I targeted it, but I targeted a separate tank with no 'reverse slope' indentifier, and the same results (i.e., wasted javelins). Mike
  6. Let's say I acquire a javelin for squad A while inside a Stryker, but then decide I want squad B to have that equipment. How do I un-acquire the javelin for squad B to use it? Mike
  7. Interesting. I haven't seen this feature of showing dead spots when using the covered arcs yet. Can someone take a picture of this, and post it? Thanks, Mike [ August 01, 2007, 08:54 PM: Message edited by: mike_in_texas ]
  8. I saw this thread, and started tinkering around with the waypoints in regards to vehicles (haven't tried it with infantry yet). Interestingly, although it appears you can select any waypoint and assign secondary tasks (such as target, target arc, pause, face, etc.), it actually does not occur when you hit play. Even when I select the last waypoint, I don't get the desired secondary task implemented, for vehicles anyway; infantry seem to work fine. Anyone else notice this? 9. I can 'third' that; I have dual 8800 GTXs (768 MB) and I get the same framerate issues peleprodigy and nirvy do. Mikr
  10. Thanks, molotov_billy. I would think I have enough horsepower to run the game with all settings to best, but I'm guessing something(s) isn't set correctly. I can get good performance (30 fps) when I turn down the 3D model quality to balanced or less and/or if there's not much going on in the camera view, but setting it at best/better just drops my fps to ~10 fps or less depending on the scene. Mike
  11. I read somewhere about BFC suggesting tweaking with the graphics card's settings to optimize performance, but I couldn't find it again. So, I thought I'd start a new thread. Right now, I get as low as 5 fps for the first part of the training campaign when selecting 'best' for the 3D Model quality with 1920 x 1200 resolution, vertical sync on and AA/multisample off. My system specs are: Widows XP Service Pack 2 Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.66 GHz 2.75 GB RAM Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB w/ latest drivers (version 6.14.10.9794) I've tried playing around with the affinity, and although it helped increase my fps a little, I would expect this game to run substantially faster on my system. What I was hoping for is any recommendations on the various settings that I can tweak from inside the NVIDA control panel, such as: - anistropic filtering - antialiasing: gamma correction - antialiasing: mode - antialiasing: setting - antialiasing: transparency - conformant texture clamp - extension limit - force mipmaps - multi-display/mized-GPU acceleration - SLI performance mode - texture filtering: anistropic sample optimization - texture filtering: negative LOD bias - texture filtering: quality - texture filtering: trilinear optimization - threaded optimization - triple buffering - vertical sync Any help would be much appreciated! Mike
  12. I've noticed a couple possible bugs: 1. Infantry units 'floating' across the ground (i.e., their legs are stationary and they just slide/float to their destination). This typically is a temporary situation, though; after a few turns, their legs are moving properly again. 2. Incorrect infantry-held weapons being shown(e.g., in the last training scenario where you assualt the small town, they guy with the Javelin would apparently be shooting his rifle but he was shown still holding the Javelin). 3. Related to #2, I've seen weapons disappear (e.g., the guy with the 30-cal looked like he was firing something but nothing was there). 4. During replays, if a building/wall was damaged/rubbled at some point in the just-played turn, the remains appear at the beginning of the replay. I think I've heard someone else mention something similar, but wanted to stress I've seen it consistently for buildings, bunkers and walls. That's all I can recall for now. Mike
  13. As a satisfied customer from the days of CMBO, BB and AK, I pretty much concur with what most others (Joe, Steiner, et al) have already said, especially in regards to trusting BFC and them not resting until the bugs are fixed, which can be fixed. Mike
  14. Hi Steve, It's an intermittent flicker, sometimes it's just part of the scene and sometimes it's the entire scene -- very brief flash of black. Hard to describe much better than that, unfortunately. It's not too annoying since it only happens a few times a minute at most, but I'm sure there's got to be a fix. Mike
  15. Thanks, Rune. I've run the MS hotfix, and still get the flicker with and without SLI enabled. As for the selection box, I noticed that it works only when I have the floating icons on. Not sure if this is intended or a bug. Notwithstanding some of these minor issues, looks like another great game from you guys. Thanks again, Mike
  16. Hi, I noticed that when I attempt to use the unit selection box by shift-leftclick-drag, my units that are inside the box do not get selected. Also, I downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers, and still get flickering when using anything but the lowest 3D model quality setting. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike My system specs are: Widows XP Service Pack 2 Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.66 GHz 2.75 GB RAM Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB w/ latest drivers (version 6.14.10.9794)
  17. You can also download a tool called Fraps. Mike
  18. Ok, I think I've tried all the recommendations in these forums (i.e., updated all drivers, set threaded optimization to off, disabled secondary window, selected single GPU, tinkered with screen resolution), and I still only get ~7 frames per second when at ground level while playing the Line of Sight trainer. At this point, I assume it's something with the game versus my system simply because others seem to have similar issues.
  19. Well, you would think so, but I still get jerky movement especially when I move my camera to ground level. I'm suspecting I have a setting wrong.
  20. I have a dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX cards setup, and would like to know if anyone's tinkered around with all the 3D settings for NVIDIA cards. For example, you can change antialiasing, mipmaps, texture filtering, threaded optimization, etc. So, if anyone's taken the time to tweak all these settings for peak performance, I think it'd be helpful for some of us to know what they found the best configuration is. Thanks, Mike
  21. I have dual 8800 GTX cards, and there is a threaded optimization feature. Mike
  22. How do you change the number of monitors? I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, and can't seem to find this setting. Thanks, Mike
  23. Ok, I ran TOW without SLI, but still get the same issue. And, I've tried a couple different screen resolutions to no avail. i'm currently running it at 1920x1200 @ 60Hz. I'm guessing/hoping it's a driver issue.
  24. My system specs are: dual NVIDIA GEForce 8800 GTX w/ SLI enabled Intel Core2 quad @ 2.66GHZ Windows XP
