  1. I just wanted to advise you that both a new operation and a new scenario have been posted for your pleasure. The Operation, "Montelimar - Task Force Butler" can be found on Manx's web site. http://www.combatmissions.co.uk/ Colin will soon have one of my newest scenarios, "To the Last Man" posted on his site. http://cm4mac.tripod.com/scenario.html I hope you will enjoy both of these latest additions to the "Wild Bill" collection. Good hunting... ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  2. Very nice, Manx! I love the improvements you have made to the site! It is very easy to move around and to find what I am looking for. Congrats! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  3. The names of the leaders can be changed, Texas. You must load your scenario into the scenario editor, go to the units button and open the unit's menu. Then click on a unit in the unit list, then click on the "edit" button at the bottom of the screen. Then you click on the name and instead of the standard, type in the name you want. Be sure and save when you are done. Now you cannot change the name of the squad or give it a unit designation, but you can change the name of the leader of each unit. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com [This message has been edited by Wild Bill Wilder (edited 11-25-2000).]
  4. I can believe that, Cap'n. Just like in real life, where is the cavalry, even if it comes from the sky? Good hunting, I'm sure you will do well. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  5. She'd better enjoy the moment! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  6. No problem, my friend. The feedback from folks like you does two things. 1. Keeps us on our toes and that is good; 2. Makes for more quality scenarios, and that is better! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  7. Thanks Sound Man, and all of you. My poor wifey is working tonight and tomorrow, so... Can you believe old Wild Bill has got cooking turkey, dressing, yams, mac-cheese, collard greens, etc, etc.? First time I've ever tried this, so wish me well, please! Bet you never thought that would happen. I didn't either! Shoot, I'm hungry! I'm thankful for so much, and in particular this wild and zany group of wargamers that keep my life interesting to say the least. The invitation is open at the Wilder home! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  8. My fingers kept sliding off the keyboard from too much turkey grease I'll be late but look for something next week, guys. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  9. Thanks Cap'n! Appreciate the first hand comments. This is a good post, Offwhite. I've seen photos of bocage but never been there. Maybe one day, God willing, before I "shake of this mortal coil!" ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  10. I can respect that, Germanboy. I appreciate your candor and I understand your frustration. Sorry is the information was misleading. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  11. I don't want to clutter the forum but give me a moment to wish a happy and safe Thanksgiving to those who do celebrate it. And to those who don't, I still hope you get a lot of good food to eat tomorrow I think to one degree or another, all of us have a lot for which to be thankful. My best to all you fine wargamers! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  14. This is very encouraging, gentlemen. Thanks for voicing your support of such a project. It gives me some good ammunition for the appeal to the higher BTS Supreme Court. Your arguments are sound. Your plea is legitimate. Be assured I will not let this lie dormant. I am attentive to your requests and will try to wield any puny influence I have (with the backing of many of you) to see that we get CM-Pacific. I can't promise to succeed, but I do promise to try. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  15. Being bogged down is one situation, being immobilized is another. I have seen tanks that were bogged down eventually work their way free. Being bogged down means the tank could move but it's stuck. In the case of immobilization, it's pretty much a lost cause. When a tank does bog down or become immobilized, check it each turn to see if it can move again. I have been plesantly surprised more than once. In the case of Fear in the Fog, one of my Shermans bogged down. Three turns later, it was free to move. So it can happen. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  16. Well, as much as I respect your opinion, Germanboy, I'll have to disagree with you here. The scenario begins with neither side in control of the victory flags. True, the Germans can take control of them first, since they are nearer, but they are not set up in defensive positions nor do they have adequate time to set up strong defenses. A big portion of the units involved in the action from both sides come in as reinforcements and battle back and forth over the victory flags. Thus it really is a sort of melee type situation, with some German infantry moving into a position to stop the American advance while reinforcements for both sides are constantly coming in to change the flow of the battle. It really does not fit any particular description. But in my mind if fits more of a meeting engagement than an assault defend type scenario. I would still call it a melee on the battlefield. Quite a number have played it and enjoyed it with no negative comments as to how it was set up. I'm sorry if you were disappointed. But I still can't bring myself to call it an attack-defend scenario. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  17. There is a nucleus of die-hard Pacific War lovers who are still in hopes of it happening. I personally think it would be very well received and am lobbying to that intent. If the people want it, BTS will listen. It would, of course, be after the upcoming other modules already mentioned and might be a few years, but it is worth the effort to let BTS know that there is interest here. I hope we can. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  18. I'm confused, Freak. You say there are no columns of vehicles for Wittmann to blast in the CM versions (there are more than one) but in the scenario version I did and in the campaign by Los, there are indeed columns along the road just outside of Villers Bocage. I'm sure Bil H has a column of vehicles in his too. WB ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  19. I got it Bullethead. Thanks!. We are on it!..WB ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  20. Nice idea, Coop! I'll have to check this one out. I love these kind of scenarios,as you probably know! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  21. I don't think it is a closed case yet, Bullethead. At least I think if the groundswell of desire is strong enough we might have an outside chance of getting a pac version. I have not given up the fight and will continue to lobby for it, for whatever that might be worth. And my congratulations for attempting this stop-gap measure with a pac scenario. I'll be checking it out. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  22. Harv, you have done a real heroe's piece of work here, my friend. A lot of hourse went into putting this together. I must congratulate you... a true labor of love for the game and a willingness to serve your fellow gamers. Well done! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  23. Thanks guys! I hope you enjoy SPWAW and of course, we'll keep the flame burning bright for CM-Pacific. Yes, this is one of the major attractions of the this marvelous game. We could have all of these types of battles that have been mentioned. As we all know, CM was designed as an infantry game and that is what you have in the Pacific. Of course there were numerous tank engagements, one sided of course, but we can fix that . It would still be challenging and fun. I think the CM engine is an ideal tool for the Pacific and as the day of decision approaches (no time soon...ARGH!), we'll be ready. To get there we'll have to fight our way through Russia, the Mediterranean, Italy and God knows where else. But I'll wait, bide my time and speak for all of us who want this module so badly. It can happen! The BTS crew has always been open to suggestion and they listen to what folks want. Those are reasons it has been such a pleasure to work with them! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  24. Sorry, guys, I should have mentioned Computer Gaming World has the game (SPWAW)on CD when you buy their December issue. That would save you that humongous download time. It's worth a look and if you do get it, there are plenty of good pac scenarios for the game at the SPWAW Game Depot. http://spwaw.matrixgames.com And we will continue to lobby for the Pac version of CM, I promise! Thanks Bruno. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  25. I have been and will continue to be a strong advocate for this, Wesy. A lot depends on how many people want it. I hope a lot of folks who love the Pacific Theater of Operations will take their case to BTS. Are you familiar with SPWAW? It is another tac level game and you'll find all kinds of Pacific battles, invasion of Tarawa, Bloody Ridge, Battle of the Ilu, Invasion of Iwo, The Chindits, Merrill's Marauders, and many, many more. It plays well, great graphics and offers you while you wait for BTS Pacific an outlet to enjoy pacific battles. You'll find it at http://spwaw.matrixgames.com Take a tour of the site and the game depot. The nice thing is that the game is free! Pay us a visit. Since BTS currently has no Pacific module, this is something you might want to consider. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
