  1. You may want to consider why halftracks came into being in the first place - to allow infantry to keep up with an armoured advance.
  2. It's not hard to do from scratch when you build the 3-D model. Once that's done, you can map the skin template to whatever parts you want. It takes a bit more time, but not that much more time, and it has to be done individually for each model. I assume CM2 will have a heck of a lot more polys to play with than CM1, too.
  3. Exactly. This was the "problem" with the Matilda. It was an amazing tank for its time, but it was stuck the the 2-pdr because its turret ring was too small to withstand a heavier gun.
  4. I already fixed the opening page.
  5. oren: http://www.dragonlair.net/combatmission/review03.php?UniqueID=82&Name=Small+Battles%2C+Mandelbaum%27s+Gate&g=10 By the way, Hans - the file description at the page above says best played as Axis vs. AI. Since the israelis are the Axis, maybe that needs to be changed....
  6. Didn't matter what you wrote - I was going to play the Israelis first. Actually, I did leave lanes through the wire, but not on purpose - just through forgetting to rotate a few pieces. I had three slanted lanes open in the middle, just south of the vineyard. The Arabs never found it, though. They sent all infantry to the hill, which I had TRPed and mined pretty extensively. Say, how about a scenario of half a brigade of infantry and four aircraft against 500 ACs and light tanks? Call it, oh, Ad Halom.
  7. I played SB Mandelbaum Gate as the Israelis. I scored a total victory (96% or so), losing only nine casualties, three dead. . . . . . SPOILERS BELOW . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Israelis have too much barbed wire. I moved the wire out from the edge of the city to a point roughly 80 m out in the fields. I had enough wire to string across the entire map. My sharpshooters easily detected the Arab thrust and I was able to shift my forces to meet it. The Arabs got to the wire and died horrible deaths to my MGs and mortar. My sharpshooters buttoned up all enemy ACs and my unbuttoned ACs were able to shoot and scoot and destroy all of the enemy ACs. I lost one, but by that time the Arabs were so demoralized that theye never even bothered moving up their guns, which I assume were reserves. Either reduce the amount of wire or make it non-placeable. Also, one of the buildings has a non-placeable minefield inside it.
  8. My wife bought 'em for me and had them shipped to Canada.
  9. I want to see the Battle of Ad Halom. Four S-199s against a column of 500 trucks, ACs, and tanks.
  10. One of the main reasons for landing in Italy was to appease Stalin's demand that the Western Allies open up an actual second front in Europe.
  11. I'm looking for the battles Hans mentions in this thread, but I can't find them at the Scenario Depot.
  12. Not photos, but colour drawings: Got a green IDF Hotchkiss, an OD IDF M9 halftrack, a sand-and-spinach Arab Legion armoured car, Also lots of b/w photos of other armoured cars, Bren carriers, and a Syrian Renault tank.
  13. I own Steve Zaloga's book on armour of the Arab-Israeli wars. That has some stuff, too.
  14. I assume the blue lines are troop movements. The pictures are good. I use them mostly to get an idea of what the country looked like back then in terms of urbanization and roads. It has changed a bit since.
  15. So you did. I found it in my spam folder, though.
  16. Only two. WarBirds is one. WWII Online is the other. Both are amazing experiences.
  17. Oren - I want those! E-mail me: webs(at)101squadron.com
  18. Any idea when that will be? I miss the game, but I miss OS 9 less.
  19. It's the pilot, not the plane.
  20. If you guys want to give FPS flying a go, try WarBirds. It includes a passel of WWI aircraft as well as WWII. It's free for offline use and it works on Mac OS X and Windows. [MOON: Link removed due to our no-advertising policy] [ May 03, 2004, 03:13 AM: Message edited by: Moon ]
  21. If you can't see them, they can't see you. Go around them instead of through them. There's also nothing like an arty barrage to knock out concentrated infantry in woods.
