  1. So what you are saying is the Germans would lose 100 to 0 even though they prevented the Allies from achieving two thirds of their goal? In that case how could the Germans ever win a victory? It seems that way, at best, all the Germans could do is achieve a Draw by holding the Allies to 0, no?
  2. In the Scenario Editor/Units/Purchase Axis Units you can purchase wire and assign it a Unit Objective number. Then go to Mission/Unit Objectives and choose from Destroy, Destroy All or Spot. Nothing about suppression/killed/captured. Unless the wording is just semantics and Destroy is the same thing as Kill. Now that you brought it up, and it's a good point, you may be able to Destroy or Spot wire and mines but you can't destroy a trench or a foxholes. Also re-reading the manual it says "To designate a unit or formation as a scenario objective....." Unit probably means infantry or armor.
  3. Hey, Rockin' thanks for the quick reply. I did set the Objective to "Known to Both Players". That was a good thought on the UI Mod. Didn't think of that myself. I should have pointed out that this is a CMBN V4.0 scenario also.
  4. I am creating a scenario with both Terrain and Unit Objectives. This is the first time creating a scenario with Unit Objectives. For that matter, I never even played a scenario with Unit objectives before. I have some questions that I need help with. In the Scenario Editor - Units I assigned as a Unit Objective 3 German Units: U1 - Tank U2 - Gun U3 – 1 Wire plus 1 Mines, or what I call the Road Block In the Mission Editor I assigned a name and point value to each U-Ob’s. I then went to deploy the German units. According to the manual “When Deploying Units in the 3D Preview” I should see a U in the Suppression Area of the team info panel followed by the number of the objective. I don’t see a U1, U2, U3 in any of the Suppression areas all I see is an A:1 the same as all the other units. I ran a test to see if they actually had point values in the scenario and if they counted towards the Victory Conditions. I set the scenario for 10 minutes and just clicked Go without moving anyone. At the end the Allies failed to, but could have, received points for the Tank (U1) and the Gun (U2) but the Scenario did not recognize the Road Block (U3) as an objective even though I had given it a U#, name and point value. The Germans did not receive any points for saving the Unit Objectives from being destroyed by the Allies. Questions 1) Why did I not see a U# when deploying in the Suppression Area of the Unit Objectives I created? 2) Other than being told, is there a way either side knows what the Unit Objectives are? For example Terrain Objectives are highlighted, are Unit Objectives marked in anyway while playing the Scenario? 3) Why didn’t the wire and minefield points count towards the Victory Conditions? Can an inanimate objects be given as a Unit Objective? 4) Should the side tasked with defending the objectives receive points for avoiding their destruction? Thanks for any input and/or advice.
  5. Thanks CMFDR for pursuing this. If I find anything out I'll post it here too.
  6. Great pics and a great job putting this together. I had no problem downloading it. But is there a way I can mod the initial screens text back to black from the blue?
  7. LoL. No wonder I can't find it anywhere! Thanks guys for your help and quick response.
  8. I had to reload all my CM2 games and lost all my mods. Wasn't there a sound mod that silenced the music at the start? If so, do you know where I might find it? Thanks.
  9. Hey. I've been a happy customer for near on twenty years now. I say keep on doing what you're doing for another twenty years.
  10. You can find the Scenario Depot, Proving Grounds and Mods here: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/
  11. Reading the CMSF2 homepage I came upon this post by Steve…. “We've been very happy with the level of support shown for all our CM2 products. Some pay for themselves a little bit better than others, but in the end it works out well for everybody. I think we should put out T-shirts and bumper stickers that say "Have You Hugged a CMBN Player Today?" ” ….which made me wonder “Why is there no merchandise?” After seeing many shows, comedy, music etc. most have merchandise for sale, or “merch”. I understand they could a good piece of their income from. So Battlefront, why no t-shirts, coffee mugs, hats, magnets, jackets etc. etc. etc. (Maybe it would help CM players recognize each other on the street.) I for one would load my closets and desktops with all things Combat Mission.
  12. Yes it is a good question, why do I have to log in every time I visit the site?
  13. Found it. Turns out McAfee, which came with the new machine and although not "activated", was still running. I deleted McAfee, installed Norton (my brother already subscribed) and loaded the game via CD and everything worked out fine. Thanks everyone for you help. Cheers
  14. I thought of that but it is a new clean machine and doesn't have anti-virus software installed yet. Maybe a Microsoft security setting?
  15. My brother bought a new Dell Win10 machine. He is not that computer savvy so I said I would help him setup the combat mission games. We went to his account where I saw he had purchased the CMBN Big Bundle. We downloaded the bundle, extracted it to the down loads folder (and later created a Battlefront folder in My Documents to download to) I ran the install and when at the end of the install, the activation window opens I added the key and it said congratulations everything is activated. So I “launched” the game. And in a blink both the activation exe and the game exe disappeared. I opened Explorer and all the rest of the files, manuals etc. were still in the Documents-Battlefront-Combat Mission Battle for Normandy folder. Just the 2 exe’s were missing. I deleted the game again and reloaded and launched the game from the desktop icon. It open up I clicked on scenarios and saw that the Battle Pack scenarios were not there (we have to download and activate them separately) and in a blink the game was gone and the two shortcuts, Activate and Launch, on the desktop disappeared. My first experience with the Big Bundle, so I don’t know, what am I doing wrong?
  16. Of course you could take your thunder on the road
  17. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here or is relevant but if you go to "My Account" from the battlefront home page it will show you all your purchases and all the License Keys.
  18. Ok Ian thanks. Maybe what I'll do is take half the original point value and then a quarter for reinforcements. Curious though what formula was used for the 1389 and 959 start points..
  19. I'm thinking of creating a tournament where I create a scenario, choose the base, or On Map, units and then have the two opponents, given a fixed amount of points, choose their own reinforcements. I'm not sure how many points to offer. I get the ratio but looking at a CMFB Probe QB I see the points are 1389 and 959. I wonder where do those numbers come from? Why not just 1400 and 950? There must be some reasoning behind these point amounts.....maybe
  20. OK, I did a test. I setup 15 MkIV's against 5 Sherman 1"s, 5 Sherman V's and 5 Churchill IV's on a flat open large map. The armor of the Churchill's were able to withstand the MkIV's 75's causing several ricochets of the hull. Not so much the turret. Also, instead of being knocked out, the crew after receiving several casualties abandoned the Churchill's. The Sherman's were knocked out before the crew could abandon. The Churchill's 57mm seemed to be equal to the Sherman's 75. In the end there was a lone Churchill left. It may have been because he was out of LOS a lot. (He kept reversing out of trouble)
  21. Looking at a quick battle in CMFI, and while comparing tank battalions I see that the Churchill III and IV are valued at about 280 points each and the Sherman III & V's are only 190 points. (both set to equal parameters, Veteran etc...). Just wondering, do you feel two Churchill's are worth 3 Sherman's in an AT role?
  22. I see the discussion on playing CM on the TV and thought that computer monitors this season are becoming cheaper and cheaper. There is a sale at a local store on a Samsung 28" 4K HD monitor and I was wondering if CM would look any better on an HD monitor. Any thoughts?
