  1. You know Bootie, I've been watching up to Part five and I thought I would mention that I find with the Engineers if you face them towards the hedge - I use the rotate command - and give a blast order to the side or parallel to the hedge, they will blow the hedge in front of them and then move sideways and not through the hedge in to the open. Sometimes though if there is a house next to them they will blow that instead. I wonder if anyone else has tried this?
  2. I bring the "camera" in to the river and move the length along the bottom. That will show where the ford's are.
  3. I visited there back in October... http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/threads/normandy-tour-day-3-british-6th-airborne.21082/ The excellent book I referenced before going was David Howarth's "The 6th of June" later editions was re-titled "Dawn of D-Day" There is an excellent chapter on Ottways attack on the Merville Battery. You can either view it or down load a free pdf here: https://archive.org/details/ddaythesixthofju006129mbp The British Airdrop starts on page 29. Enjoy!
  4. Oh yes, I do agree it would be a major software effort to get CM, or any software, to work with a 3D platform. Probably be a whole new game start to finish. And perhaps I misstated that the "future of CM" lies with working with the Rift (or some other 3D platform.) I know, for one, I will always be playing CM in any dimension However, although I can't say that I "know" it will, but rather, that in "my opinion" I strongly believe that, how should I put this, the highest selling games, especially with the younger generation, will be in 3D. This may not be for another 10 years or sooner even but it's coming and I feel it may be closer than we think. I feel like I sound like a commercial. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/how-palmer-luckey-created-oculus-rift-180953049/?all&no-ist https://www.oculus.com/rift/
  5. I don't know. I don't think it would take anything away from the game or playing WEGO. I think if you were able to move down to the level of the turret commander and look around in panoramic 3d or zooming out above the battlefield and seeing the undulating terrain and just moving your head back and forth to see the whole map instead of using the keyboard would be an enhancement. Perhaps you could just reach out from a height, touch units, and give them voice commands (or the option of bringing up menus). Just my opinion. Of course this is all very much in the future. (But it's knocking on the door.)
  6. I've read through the threads and everyone brings up good points. I think the future lies in how CM will work with the likes of Oculus Rift. It will bring a whole new world of wargaming.
  7. This may have been brought up before but Why no DShK machine guns or GAZ-AA trucks? I was a big fan of the DShK's in CM1. They did a very good job against halftracks and armored cars. Edit Let me rephrase this. In the manual under "What's New in Combat Mission : Red Thunder" it says: "M1985 Nagant revolver,TT-30 pistol, Model 1891 rifle, STV-40 rifle, PPSh,PPS-42, and PPS-43 submachine guns, the DP, DPM, Maxim 1910, SG43, and DShK machine guns." Only I do not find a description of the DHsK at the end of the manual describing Soviet Heavy Weapons (only the M1910 and the SG43) and I cannot find one on the Soviet TOE in a Quick Battle either as a Specialist Team or attached to an infantry unit. Has anybody used one?

  9. 1999 http://web.archive.org/web/19991109235411/http://battlefront.com/ I still have the pen and ink drawing of the Panther G for pre-ordering CMBO. I kind of remember a different web page layout. Blue and white maybe? Oh yes. If you click on discuss you can see the original (?) colors.
  10. I gave a few days ago just for the use and help with CMH. If everyone gave a penny for every time they opened H2HH or CMH GaJ would be living like a King. I'll go back and give again for the mods I just downloaded too. Great job GaJ! Keep up the good work!
  11. The weapons, specifically, the casualty weapon symbol, where would I find it to mod? I've exploded the brz's and can't find them. Anybody?
  12. OK GaJ, sent it via Report Bug. Like I say everything is working fine so rush. And thanks.
  13. GaJ, I'm still getting the same issue with the sad confused faces. The screens look the same except I am now using CM Helper 1.2.3. And under the opponents tab I now get the Red Thunder Icon. Under the CM Installations it says Version Not Known for all three games. Again, everything else works fine.
  14. I'm just using the one machine. Let me expand on my issue, or should I say oddity as opposed to an issue, because everything is working fine. I get uploads/downloads and chat in both CMRT and CMBN (the only two games currently playing). It's cleaning the files in the out/in boxes. All is well. It's just I get those sad face icons next to the CMBN games. I believe it is seeing all three loaded games. Or is there a problem becuase I have CMBN and a ghost "CM Battle For Normandy"? And I'm not sure what you mean by the top of the log and the ID. I go to Options show log window and I don't see any ID. Is there another log I should be looking at? And thanks for your help GaJ.
  15. I'm running 1.12 on my Win7 machine and everything is working fine. One issue though (isn't there always), I started a Red Thunder game and it shows the Red Thunder icon under "other info" but the other all ready existing CMBN games show a sad face icon with a question mark above it. Should it be showing the CMBN icon?
  16. I'm having a problem scrolling through my units using the + and - keys. I've created a Group but still nothing. I'm playing in the Iron mode. What is the trick to scrolling?
  17. I couldn't agree more. I like to use them in a quick flanking of infantry. They seem nearly impervious to small arms. I'm a big fan.
  18. And you don't get to see what the plane sees?
  19. I'm surprised the walls of the building didn't offer more protection.
  20. Bill, when you say this is it because the SU guns have a shorter arc to cover targeting one unit to the next or does it have to do with the LOS. In other words does a tighter covered arc give you greater spotting capability?
  21. I see an HQ unit on your lower left. Which HQ is it and is it there to get eyes up the clear terrain to OBJ BLAU. Does he have contact with the higher up HQ's?
