  1. I don't think Slapdragon is an ass. He's provocative at times, but for the most part he's (IMHO) just a very knowledgable man who takes it upon himself to duke it out with some of the opinionated people that can't back their statements with references. At least he has proven time and time again that he knows more than most about WWII. That's more than you can say for many of the people who state ther opinions on this board. Sten
  2. Cauldron, would it be too much to ask that you stop replying to stuff by posting new topics? Try to reply within topics instead. Especially when you started them in the first place, ok? Sten

  4. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: Like all mortals, they had their faults. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> But that's not true for all mortals. Take Lewis for example. There is a man without faults. Well-read, polite, interesting, non-inflammatory, compassionate, forgiving, and always displaying a very respectful attitude to his peers. I so long for the day when he will display his true personality in all its grandeur. But since this board is populated by people who Lewis obviously doesn't deem worthy of the term "peer", there'll probably be a cold day in hell before Lewis stops treating the other members on this board like sh*t.
  5. "Fanny" is from Ella Fitzgerald. She actually gave her own fanny a name, "My fanny, Valentine."

  7. My original intention was to draw upon some of that old berserker viking blood of mine. But considering what someone just said about how they got themselves into a berserk frenzy (leather thongs + testicles + hot wax, you get the idea) I'm looking at easier solutions. Maybe I'll just use the ingenious trick of hiding my vehicles by hitting Shift-V while they reload. Shift-C to enlarge my opponents vehicles, thereby making them easier to hit, could also work.
  8. There are several pictures on the internet of my favourite Swedish tank (really, a tank hunter), the "Stridsvagn 103 S". Some pictures: http://www.ifrance.com/ArmyReco/europe/Suede/vehicules_lourds/CharS/Stridsvagn_103_suede_diaporama.htm More pics and some info: http://home5.swipnet.se/~w-58324/strv.htm These links are just examples. There are several more. Sadly, the Stridsvagn S was discontinued about 2 years ago. But as you can see from the pictures the Swedish army retained the "Tank hunter" look in to the new millenium. There's a low profile for you. 3 man crew (commander, driver/gunner and radio opperator/rear driver), 105 riled main gun. One driver drives it to a decent ambush position, waits, fires, and then the other driver gets it the h*ll out. Neat, huh?
  9. Congrats, Elvis, to both you and your wife! Is John Michael eating alright? Are his, ehh, disposal mechanisms also functional? Does he actually HAVE a pair? If so, he's waay overqualified for the cesspool. Don't let him in there!
  10. OTOH, how many forums do you know of that would generate the same amount of really high quality answers?
  11. Accuracy.. it can be said quite simply: You simply won't find a more accurate game than this. CC-series, SP-series or any boardgame you can think of is surpassed by a wide margin. IIRC the biggest changes in the targetting routine since the demo are the way tanks are less prone to target distant infantry. And tanks don't rotate their hull towards inf anymore, unless it's a know AT-team. Don't forget that units generally target the enemy that poses the greatest current threat. If you issue a specific target command, the unit will prioritize that target and be less interested in other targets. It will still switch targets, but it will be less likely to do so. Also, if an enemy unit goes to ground, another unit, even if it is farther away, may be considered a larger threat. And if the unit is on the other side of a crest, it might even drop from LOS when ducking.
  12. So have I, but it was some time ago now. I know Charles is busy coding, and I think it's a wise decision to let Steve handle the board. After all, someone at BTS has to do the real work, and not cater to our curiosity.

That's exactly how it felt when my girlfriend (aka "Steam roller", "Stem roller" or "Sten roller") tried to ... well, you get the idea. My heartfelt thanks go out to you, MrSpkr, at last I have gotten to know the feeling of being understood. Does Bauhaus know that you are capable of such empathic considerations? For your benefit, here's an instructional and interactive guide on how to take care of the organ that makes you really appreciate the cesspool in general and MrSpkr's dental hygiene in particular: http://www.nobodyhere.com/justme/nose.html
  14. Never mind me. I must be about as worthless as humans get. After all, I spend part of each day looking at a bunch of guys sitting in a pool of cess, right? I could jump right in there with them, but no, I'm too pitiful even for that. I tremble with fear just thinking about mingling with people who has a full *pair* (or at least sound like they do), wheras mine are too small to be counted in discreet measures. And to top it off, I actually find it funny! I really have to get myself one of those life-thingies.
  15. Still 4%. Get over there and vote, people!
  16. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> How score is comuted??? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Oh, much like everyboby else. By train or bus.
  17. MrPeng, you are one funny guy. Your posts always crack me up. The EthenalJustice slam was brilliant. Thanks.
  18. Thanks. I feel much better now. Had my mother known that there was a gun called Sten she would have been strongly against me getting that name. (It actually means stone and is not that uncommon in northern Europe.) Rupert_2, that would make you, what? Second in command?
  19. Mommy, mommy! Rupert_2 said everyone hates me! Buaahaha. *sniff* In my next life could I please be christened something cool, like HMG42?
  20. Welcome aboard, Bruce. As Michael said, what you want is called 'Relative Spotting'. If you do a search for this, you'll find several threads on this issue, including some official statements from BTS. This board has been VERY active for more than two years, in the 250+K posts a lot of topics and ideas have been covered. As I see this is your first post, and to avoid getting some , ahem, "coarse" , responses in the future, take a friendly advice and utilize the search function before inquiring/suggesting stuff.
  21. Ok, Cormand is the new leader of lurkers. I know about the crash of -99, I was here when it happend. I figured the renumbering of members ( ) wouldn't hurt the calculations ved´ry much. But yes, I agree, registration date would be superior, but a LOT more cumbersome to use.
  22. Eh, how's your math skill? 10000/(417*5238)=0.004578 not anything else. This probably puts you in a good position for the anti-lurker award though. Edited due to slip-of-the-finger. (Now, doesn't that sound like something that would belong in a Peng thread? ) [ 05-10-2001: Message edited by: Sten ]
