1. Do you live near Stockholm and would you enjoy an evening of beer and CM talk? Send me an e-mail, and we'll discuss the time and the place. I'll bump this topic a few times, just to make sure that all interested parties gets to see it. Sten ------------------ Sten Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
2. That'd be fun. Let's keep this discussion off the forum and use e-mail instead. Mail me with the topic "CM + öl". Once I get enough interested people, we'll set a time and a place. Everyone who has an interest in CM and lives in (or can make it to) Stockholm is welcome. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
3. That was the night we asked Richard Gere over, right? Sten
4. Chupacabra, have you read "Between silk and cyanide" by Leo Marks? Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
5. Keep it in english. As a courtesy to the rest of the world. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
6. Norrlänningarna wouldn't agree..... Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
7. It is still some way off. It will definitely not be ready for your vacation. Just be patient. Charles will announce any updates in due time. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
8. Two ideas: 1. Maybe surviving vehicles should result in a point bonus at the endgame scoring? Let the initial cost for vehicles remain, but add a "Survivability bonus". The bonus could be varied according to some factor (speed?). 2. Increase the impact vehicles have on Global Morale (=GM). Instead of GM=(Points still alive)/(Initial points), change the formula to GM= (Points still alive with AFV points counted twice)/( Initial points with AFV points counted twice). This would discourage any overly offensive use of AFVs. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
9. Hi all. Me and some friends use to get together and play Diablo2 occasionally. Now someone came up with the idea of using some voice-over-net program at the same time, to enhance immersion. Has anyone tried this? What programs work and which is best? The question has bearing to CM as well as I think most people with the technological prerequisites would like to use this once the TCP/IP is here. It would be wonderful to not only play someone over the net, but actually hear them wince when their tanks brew up. The impersonal feeling you get from computer games could probably lessen somewhat if we could get this working. Thanks, Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
10. Pham911, I have been working alongside Madmatt for almost a year now. He is one of the hardest working of all the betatesters, which is volontary, unpaid, work. He has (to my knowledge) not seen a dime from this work, yet he keeps at it with a vigilance few of the other betatesters can muster. (I'm not slamming the rest of the guys, just praising Madmatt. ) In addition to this, he (and Fionn) has put in enormous amounts of work in the CMHQ site. A LOT of the stuff on CMHQ has been made by, or with help from, Madmatt (and Fionn). To the other contributors to CMHQ Madmatt clearly states that their work will not be sold for profit. He has not broken this deal. He's only trying to get some money from ads on the site, the site that he built. Where's the wrong in that? Just as with Madmatts betatesting work, the other contributors to CMHQ has known from the start that what they did was non-profitable work. Should the betatesters get paid for their work as well, since CM wouldn't be all that it is without our work? My answer is NO. We, the betatesters, agreed to work for free and BTS has found a way to turn a profit from our work. Good for them. CMHQs contributors agreed to work for free and Madmatt found a way to turn a profit from their work. Good for him. Please tell me where our opinions differ. 11. Has the Borg gotten around to assimilating countries yet? Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
12. Ironcross, mfred has edited his post and apologized. Apparently he posted before he saw JPs last(!) stunt. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
13. I read Aikman got sacked on three of his first six snaps. What's up with the Cowboys offensive line? Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
14. Imature or not, that's inexcusable. Hope I'll never have the misfortune of reading anything by you again. Sten
15. Not to mention the fact that if the fire is big enough there'll be a serious shortage of oxygen in the middle of it. Now THAT could stall even the best engine. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
16.
quote:
Here comes the funny part: Spielbergers figures for 0deg are: 100 - 220 500 - 205 1000 - 186 1500 - 170 2000 - 154 CMs figures for 0deg are: 100 - 220 500 - 205 1000 - 188 1500 - N/A 2000 - 157 So the German wartime data for penetration at 0deg is not in conflict with CMs data. It is in the calculation of the slope effect at 30deg that things go wrong. Spielbergers figures for 30deg are: 100 - 203 500 - 182 1000 - 167 1500 - 150 2000 - 135 CMs figures for 30deg are: 100 - 177 500 - 165 1000 - 151 1500 - N/A 2000 - 121 The relationship between Spielbergers 0deg and 30 deg figures range from 1.08 to 1.14 while CMs range from 1.24 to 1.30. Looking at the 76mm, 90mm and 17pdr they all have a ratio between 0deg and 30deg around 1.20 to 1.30 while the 8,8cm KwK 43 is down at 1.08 to 1.14 and thus appears to be less effected by slope. Why?

This thread reminds me of how most of the threads used to look... Those were the days. Claus B illustrates an inconsitency that I find intriguing. Why do the 30deg figures vary so much? "Ground effect" is very important too landing aircraft. Is there such an effect for projectiles? The factor Lewis suggested, spin, was that more-or-less equal for most WWII guns? Did the 88/L71 differ? Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll. 17. CPT STRANSKY, I think, no, I'm certain that Steve would answer your comments/criticism in a constructive manner if you used some basic editing rules and formalized your complaint somewhat. Your point about the attacking AI has some merit, and could be the start of a good discussion. But your posts are very hard to read and the tone could be somewhat less confrontational. Regards, Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
18. When the power plant is running, they have oxygen for months. But it isn't running. It shut down about the same time as the accident. It might be damaged or the engine compartement might be flooded, I don't know. Poor guys. Sten
19. Blasphemer! Blasphemer! We have vowed never to behold hexes ever again and yet you trick us to this. You surely must be the spawn of the Dark Lord of cardboard and dice! Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
20. Scorpion, no problem. No harm, no foul. Welcome aboard! Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
21.
quote:
Originally posted by Scorpion: Sten, I had no idea what BTS has made perfectly clear. If this is the case, I will drop the subject. I am not sure if you are aware of it or not, but the way that post came across was extremely condescending. Thank you for the information, but next time I would appreciate it if you approached the situation with the understanding that I do not have the in-depth knowledge of what the management of BTS feels that you seem to have. -Scorp

Scorpion, my English is by no means perfect. I often make mistakes and for that I apologise. If you felt that my post was condescending, please accept my sincere apologies, because that was never my intention. I tried to be as clear and concise as possible, to avoid any misunderstandings. I hope that, despite the perceived condescending tone, you got your questions answered. To help me avoid making the same mistake in the future, could you please tell me just what it was that was condescending? I don't ask this to be argumentative, but I reread my post several times and I just don't get it. Sten
22.
quote:
Originally posted by Mark Jensen: Sorry - sporry. Shame on me - i've made a search and saw an answer from BTS that it will be "fixed" in the new patch! Mark "DarkAngel" Jensen

4 cool-points to you for searching! What the f**k is a cool-point? Ahh, (you all saw this coming from a mile away), use the search function! 23. marcusjm, Do you really mean Roland Hassel? If you are talking about the books by Sven Hassel they are entertaining but totally fictional. Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
24. Scorpion, because the figures would look measley compared to what the big companies sell. When those figures are taken out of context they could be used to hurt the company. My guess is that if you look at earnings and especially earnings/employee-year I'd guess the big companies would sit up and take notes. But such a comparison would require BTS to disclose a wee bit more about the company than they might want to. BTS has also made perfectly clear that they will not release them at the moment and that they'd prefer if we didn't speculate too much on this topic. I suggest we respect their wishes and just drop the subject, ok? Sten ------------------ Keep your whisky on the rocks and your tanks on the roll.
