  1. I am trying to load a PBEM file and every time it reaches 62% on display, it all stops and the game crashes.
  2. Do we have a resource for PBEM opponent finding at this point? -Rick
  3. I'm with ya, although I might be a little more positive. The only pathfinding issue I've seen so far is connected with a mistake I made. CMSF hasn't worked miracles in making the pathfinding intelligent when the user screws up, but then I didn't expect it to. Unfortunately, I have to go to work now and won't be able to play CMSF for a while.
  4. I am running the demo in Vista, trying to evaluate if I want this game. Problem is usually the animations and the interface are so "jumpy" with interface this means things happen several seconds after I tell them to, that I can't fairly evaluate the program. I don't want to not but it because of some setting being wrong. Anybody have any ideas?
  5. Cpl Steiner, absolutely agree with all points except the PTO as sideshow. Personally my main area of interest is naval aviation, so I'm definitely interested in the PTO. However, Steve might very well be right in the bit that CM in the Pacific might not be that exciting. The moral certainty and worthy opponent issues are huge though.
  6. The only thing I'm not liking about these videos is the "coming summer '07" part. I was seriously hoping it would be before then.
  7. I haven't posted on this forum in a very long while but wanted to say something here. I have a 1920 x 1200 display, hoping that CMSF will somehow deal with this well. I bought it for photo-editing and boy does it works awesome for that, but games pretty much look strange on it. Using the display at that resolution would be the sweetest method, but diplaying the game at some other resolution but not stretched to fill the display would be better than what most games currently do.
  8. The only thing I didn't like about the screenshots (awesome they are) was the date given. It's like wow, did the date of the simulated fight get moved back to accomodate delaying the game?
  9. Any BFC guys, For those of us who play mainly WWII games, what do you think we'll think of modern infantry firepower? My reading of things is overall increase, but decreased ranges, as noted earlier in this thread.
  10. No kidding, this forum is rough. This certainly isn't what I was hoping for, I was hoping they'd be taking another game from a different publisher and accelerating the development from what's happening there. But, I am very excited about this one. I just didn't know it existed before it came to BFC, so I couldn't be anxiously anticipating it. I am now though.

    Other Game

They mentioned that there are two coming games of which we were unaware at that time. There were clues about TOW, but nothing about the other.

    Other Game

In all of the TOW excitement, which I believe is totally justified, we have forgotten that BFC mentioned another game in that interview. Has anyone heard any hints on that one? Even maybe just a hint on the timeframe when we might hear some details?
  13. This is all playing out exactly as I expected it, I don't understand the fuss either. Waiting to see if one of my three guesses is right. 1. The WWII CMx2 going to be released at almost the same time as CMSF 2. A platoon level game with many of the CM mechanics, huge scenariois possible 3. A game coming over from another publisher, don't think I should mention the title.
  14. Geez guys, lighten up, let them play whatever games they like.
  15. My take on this situation has been for weeks now, that "hey they're running behind their predicted time frame, but they've always done that, so any further worrying is without basis." Now personally, I wish there was someway to not have the predictions be missed every time, but hey, every game developer I've seen does it.
  16. Exactly Steve. Then in addition to supply/demand issues, there are also climate change issues. The Pentagon has already released reports of how climate change poses a threat to US national security, due to an expected increase of fighting over dwindling water resources, nations trying to deal with some of their land disappearing under the oceans etc. I'm actually not sure how much China stands to lose due to consequences that will probably arise from global warming, but Europe and Southeast Asia have much to worry about; Europe the potential collapse of the North Atlantic Conveyor, and Southeast Asia rising sea levels.
  17. Yeah, I guess if they'll still be around when the *%*&^ hits the fan, they'll do the long-term right thing. Only I don't want to put up with W that long.
  18. Interesting that there isn't more being done about alternative fuels. Granted that they might be the solution to all of this might be a bit optimistic, as there might very well not be enough time, but the respective governments are doing very little on alternatives which seems odd given the circumstances.
  19. I'm a wildlife photographer, which has some photojournalism like characteristics. For instance last time I had one of these reviews with the editor from Ranger Rick, she said I needed to shoot a little bit more journalistically. I'm completely addicted and can't imagine not trying to make a life out of it. I currently get published occasionally and make some money at it, but still need another job. Hopefully, I'll soon be well known enough that I can't start leading photo safaris, etc. to increase the income flow. Anyhow, boy are we off topic now.
  20. Yeah, I certainly don't think they would do anything about this usage, almost borderline the kind of school project use (you know back when we put a collage together from National Geographic for some sort of school project) that is acceptable under some sort of exception that I can't remember the legal terminology describing it. Very interesting to see another photographer on this forum. I have a portfolio review scheduled with an editor from Corbis at a conference I'm going to next month. The review is mainly organized for critiquing/educational purposes, the reviewers are supposed to give us advice on marketing methods that would work for our style, but there's always the chance of business coming out of it.
  21. As a photographer I don't really like seeing copyrighted work being used without permission, but beyond that on a practical note, I'd watch it with Corbis. They are gigantic and could eat anyone here for lunch.
  22. Might the XM110 or XM109 be in CMSF?
  23. M1, exactly what I had in mind. I thought I had heard about increased US MOUT training several years ago, so was expecting us to be a little better prepared. Although, in general I expected Iraq to go similarly to the way it has.
  24. Loved the Foundation series. Games, Movies, etc. on the universe would be greatly appreciated.
  25. So are the TUSK modifications going to be in the game? They seem like they will be quite useful, even if they do make the Abrams uglier.
