  1. As the person who began this thread, I'd like to mention that this is the question I've always asked when the threads about what do we want in CMx2, start. However, I just recently went about finding my password again, so I wasn't able to post anything during those discussions. Anyhow, personally I want to hear a little about what BFC has in mind before I offer up ideas. Besides I'm very curious and am not too worried about the graphics so wasn't that interested in the one official report that I've seen so far. Have there been any other official reports that I have missed?
  2. I would say that CM is at a point now where the new one will be greatly appreciated, but it's still the best wargame out there at this point. However, I defintely play it less than I used to.
  3. I know, I know, another thread like this. Although, I'm hoping it's somewhat different. Besides it's my first thread like this, and in fact my first thread of any type in a very long time. One thing that would be interesting to know; are Have Blue and Aurora boards about two different projects or two boards about the same project? I assume that the only people who know aren't going to be telling us.
  4. Anyone care to venture a guess when the next significant, official news about CMx2 will be released?
  5. Here, here. Offering suggestions for improvement is a good thing to do, but we should to some extent be grateful that we have a product like this in the first place. It certainly wouldn't take much for wargame development to cease, I'm afraid.
  6. First I'd like to say thanks to Martin for sending me the link to find my password that I had lost. At this point in time, the biggest thing I'd like to see in connection with CMx2 is a little info about what they plan as far as gameplay issues. I think I have a little more of the attitude to trust what game designers want to put in rather than make many suggestions. I could give suggestions, however. I also didn't find the sneak peak regarding graphics that interesting, because I'm perfectly happy with the graphics in CMAK, not to say I won't be delighted to see improvements. But considering these are wargames, I think the graphics still look pretty amazing.
  7. Borg is short for Cybernetic Organism and was a term used for one of the alien threat races in Star Trek the Next Generation and then even more so in Voyager.
  8. Briefings are one of the most inconsistent elements in scenario design. I definitely prefer the more thorough ones. I look forward to seeing the scenario. I'm sure that I'll lose if I play the attacker (being that my mountain performance has been so dismal so far), but I always enjoy a challenge.
  9. Wow, that does sound intriguing, but very difficult. My main interest is in wildlife and nature photography and the mountains of Ethiopia are well known to people with these interests because, they are so different than the surrounding countryside and that creates a place with very interesting wildlife. For instance, National Geographic recently published an article on the Gelada, which is a baboon like primate that lives in the Ethiopian highlands. One of the images from the article was one of the winners in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest. Point is I've read a great deal about the mountains of Ethiopia, just not connected to the war.
  10. Panzer Commander, so are you saying this battle takes place in the Ethiopian highlands? That should be very interesting, slightly less arid conditions there than the rest of the theatre. I'll need to try much harder with my arty coordination.
  11. Funny that you mention artillery, because I think using my arty more effectively would've been the biggest thing that I could've done more effectively. So, Tunisia was particularly bloody? I was unaware of that. I have read a little about the campaign in Cyreneica, but not the Tunisian campaign. The only thing I actually read about Tunisia was that the Churchill was well liked there because its slow speed was less important because all tanks are slow at climbing those hills.
  12. I'm just wondering if anyone else finds taking the desert mountains difficult? I've played a few scenarios that required taking a mountain in the desert, and I've found it to be the most difficult thing that I've faced in any incarnation of CM. Taking a big hill in Italy isn't the easiest thing either, but easier than in the desert. I think what I find difficult is the fact that you need the tanks for the firepower against entrenched infantry on the mountain, but they're not exactly that mobile on the mountain. Not to mention it seems to be more difficult for the tank's guns to get the range on the mountain side than on flat ground.
  13. Personally I'd like to point out that so far I've played one Op in CMAK, and I like it except for the fact that includes what has proven the biggest ever tactical challenge for me personally, taking a desert mountain. I can't figure that one out for anything. Every scenario or Op that I've played that includes a challenge like that just wipes me out.
  14. A minor dissapointment, but I repeat minor. I thought that if this had changed we would've heard more about it.
  15. I noticed that now when the 20mm guns fire a burst, several shells appear and fly down range. Are the effects of these shells modeled separately on the target now, or is it only a graphic thing? BTW, I would like to say that either way I think CMAK is pretty awesome. Now if only I could get you guys to write a database for a nature photographer, I'd be set. What I'm using now is just giving me fits.
  16. Is it my imagination, or are the shells from the automatic cannon on the armored cars now modeled separately?
  17. Don't worry I figured it out. After reinstalling Quicktime, I needed to reactivate the movie again.
  18. Well, the Quicktime update didn't help anything.
  19. I guess I didn't read your first post closely enough. That should fix it. I'll do it when I have time.
  20. Well, the repair guys installed Direct X 7.0 and I tried the holding shift thing, still no movie.
  21. My system melted down a few days ago. I've had it repaired and reinstalled CM. Now the movie won't play, but I hear the soundtrack in the menu screen. Any idea what's wrong?
  22. Does anyone know when promotional material will start appearing in regards to CM2? It's obviously really early now, but then again we were looking at CM stuff about this far before the release.
  23. If it's going to require that kind of video acceleration, I will definitely need to do some upgrading. It will be quite interesting to see the changes. Are they going to return to Northwest Europe post 8/44 or are they going to make these changes with the planned CM3 and move on?
  24. I imagine that I'll definitely need a new computer before CMII. So how long as this news been out there? Trying to determine how out of it I've been.
