  1. I hope that they will still support it in future becouse lots of people has Voodoo cards including myself. Glide isn't so bad API after all and novadays it is public. 3Dfx just did wrong decision and they become too greed so now they suffer from consequences. I hope NVidia will do some good with Voodoo brand and not just bury it.
  2. Sorry, Sorry talk want you want,I am not your judge but this is my opinion. But I don't still like to read anything about Close Combat tactics in this forum or similar kind of things if it hasn't anything else to do with CM except it is WWII game. But still I don't have to reply to these messages, that is my choice. But this forum thing, I give you example: You come to room where is meeting going on which is suppose to talk about Ford engines, becouse everybody knows about Ford engines, but you know about Toyota and start talking about Toyota engines. Lots of people knows it is car engine but nothing else. So is it good or bad to know about Toyota engines if you are Ford engineer, If it is somehow important to developing Ford engines it is good to know, but otherwise it just makes no difference and it is irrelevant information.
  3. I could remind you that this is little bit off-topic in CM forum but anyway. I bought it but I returned it to shop immediatly and therefore got only half of its cost, but it was so bad. No infantry and trees like boxes and so on. My vote goes to Panzer Elite too. I tried the demo, even graphics aren't best ones, but game play is much better. If you have two choices choose Panzer Elite. I am little bit amazed why there isn't proper tanksim yet, Steel Beast is try to be good one, but I don't bought it until it supports 3D-card and has air-strikes.
  4. This is definetly not a bug, AP round goes through houses so swiftly, especially light wooden ones. I think this is modelled quite good in CM. But that spotting is matter to notice, I don't think it isn't so easy to spot tank behind building, when it is not moving. It is not impossible but at least formidable. Contrary it is much easier to spot tanks which are moving from stopped tank behind building. But when you shoot you are spotted right away. I think this is one more praise to CM about its attention to detail.
  5. No Are you sure confirmation of anykind in GO button that is my opinion. Solutiong is to change Go button separately to another corner, so these kind of accidents don't happen. But adding more menus could be better too, becouse there are lot of keyboard commands which cannot be used with mouse at all. And there seem to be enough room at bottom of the screen for menus anyway.
  6. What the heck are you talking about, to my knowledge mp3 format is allways worse compared to wav format. Mp3 format erases sound information permanently and wav format doesn't. I hope CM2 uses mp3 format for music (If there will be any music) and wav format for sound effects.

I don't think CM is properly simulating this spotting ability of tanks anyway, AI is spotting some infantry regardless of incoming tank threat, that is issue which have been discussed many times.   8. Yeah I noticed same thing, issues change so rapidly no-one has time to answer them and they get lost somewhere. And lots of people are just chatting or having light conversations about something. There should be some kind of classification of these topics before they are totally messy, and then less and less people like to participate that kind of discussion.

  10. AI is for Artificial Insanity, you see I have lots of similar kind of experiences. Tanks stops suddenly in the open when he sees enemy gun, turret targets infantry despite of imminent tank threat ahead and so on... Yes I know, good AI is allways hard to make, game is otherwise excellent but I hope they would patch AI or CM2 would make AI little bit better.
  11. Otherwise it looks good but I don't understand this online playing, does everything have to be online nowadays. Have they all forgotten how to make good game AI. Online or multiplayer should be option not mandatory to play games.

Sorry again, I have 3Dfx card myself but, I want you to remember AMD few years back when Pentium III was released, they got lots of difficulties and nobody could predict that they will be leading-edge prosessor manufactures again. So you can't pronounce that statement it just isn't fair. Every manufacturers are just same bastards they want to make profit and want to get to your moneybag so please remind us that competition is best for us (consumers I mean). To get good quality or even best quality products.

Oh, yes it is, I give you another example enemy squad is open behind house and my tank sees glance from enemy tank and starts to turn it turret towards it but enemy tank disappears behind trees and then my tank switched its target to enemy squad which is behind tank and is turning its turret opposite from primary threat. That is Artificial Insanity I think, nobody sane tank crew DONT turn its turret from primary threat even it momentarely disappears.

There was this situation again with version 1.05 I was behind the houses with my tank and ambushing one spot at about 300m, but enemy tanks came at view suddenly behind one house closer (at 150m) than ambush marker and my tank isn't spotting them at all even they were in line of sight of that tank?! Thank you for your effort, but I think there is still bugs or lag of Intelligence in AI So I was thinking few main conditional states for tank: 1. if enemy AT-vehicle/weapon is in line of sight spot it/kill it. 2. if enemy AT-vehicle/weapon was spotted in this turn move turret towards it. even if it disappears and even if there were other lesser threts. 3. if ambush is marked still spot/kill every AT-vehicle/weapon in line of sight. but don't bother to contact lesser threats. 4. if there is two AT-vehicel/weapons coming from both sides engage/kill closer threat and move cover/out of sight from other distant threat if cover is available. (So you don't have to swivel your turret all the time and get killed eventually) At least these few rules are valid for every tanker with human intelligence also, so they don't lose their lives so easily in real life. I know it is hard to code good AI in games, but I hope you make it better all the time. Combat Mission is still best turn based strategy game that I have ever played.

  17. Situation was this, I have one tank and APC behind building and there were two enemy tanks coming from the road and I want to ambush them with my tank. So I lay down supressive fire with my APC to few enemy crew members in open behind building. So what does tank it isn't ambushing at all but points its gun to enemy crew members?! And when enemy tanks came in sight behind building It doesn't have time to turn its turret and my tank was gone. I was so pissed off, I almost throw monitor out of window If some member in developing group reads this message, please add more commands to tanks so they keep their targets and not just spinning their turrets madly. I have version 1.04.
  18. When the odds were even, ha, I doubt that very much, in year 1944 - 1945 german forces were so weak and outnumbered that there was only pure will or gutz what pushed them on. As you can see from the numbers losses in Allied side was much greater at first, but then Axis was out of resources and their losses started to grow fast. This is simply common sence, no book is needed for this kind of conclusion. I am not telling you witch side has best soldiers, better dicipline and better training is only one asset in the war, remember only one asset of many others which are affecting to outcome of the war.   19. I don't personally like this god option in strategy games so I prefer realtime games. So could you or is it possible to implement that option for limited vision, where 1st person view of unit is only available viewpoint. That could be very realistic to use and play with this option enabled, so you could zoom and view around in one view point only. Quenaelin
  20. I was wandering that maybe they want to release it in next year so that would be historic moment for being first 3D turn based wargame and first game of the millenium ? Is that so ??? My opinion is that this game has been ready longtime, judging from playing the demo.
  21. Yep, Black_night38 you hit the bullseye. I have been looking for this kind of realtime game for years, but I haven't found it yet. I was remembering that in 1992 Amiga had realtime strategy game called Campaign by Empire Software but in I havent seen it in PC yet. If anyone can tell me where to find realtime game which has one part of Rainbow Six and and one part of Spec Ops and one Part of M1A2 Abrams one part of M1 Tank Platoon and one part of GunShip and there it would be tactical combat game of the future. Yeah. And of course it have to have multiplayer option so you participate as squad leader or tank commander or as gunship pilot. If anyone knows is there this kind of game available or who is allready developing this kind of game please email me at once.
