  1. CM is so good game that there is no reason to start nagging IL2 is too hard game to make any kills and cultural detail wasn't quite in right balance in first version. I am really glad they patched it, now it is more easier to get kills for average sunday pilot like me and even when you fly Brewsters
  2. I have idea for a new topic, who's number is the best? I am not a number I am a free man!!!
  3. I would like to have those whole face portraits, they add lots of personality to soldiers. Maybe I just have to mod those portraits.
  4. In CMBB soldiers are just treated like tired wimpy covard bastards and there is no heroic acts like in CMBO, this is one thing why I like CMBO little bit more, that AT-team was just lucky to get no hits from your fire and seized your tank attack, they just acted as real AT-soldiers should always act in the battle field.
  5. Vic-20: Ghostbusters by me my first (and probably last) selfmade game which actually worked. C-64: Elite it really got me hooked to computer games, amazing 3D-graphics. Amiga: Hired Guns story was good, great adventure and RPG game. PC: Colin McRae Rally 1 first car game which really encouraged me to get steering wheel in to my computer. CM isn't listed, sad to say but I don't really play this excellent game so much
  6. I have been playing Panzer Elite, it is tank simulator game where you don't have this kind of bird eye view like in CM and definetly I would fire some HE rounds againgst infantry if I don't see anything else in the view, and be damn scared becouse of few shermans just passed my position without getting any good clear shot at them, becouse I was shooting infantry, but war is war and it can be really messy sometimes. But still, I would like to play those western battles with CMBB engine, so I could get those armored vehicles covered.
  7. I am playing both, why BTS couldn't do somekind of combination of those two games. So that western battles could be playable in BB.
  8. I noticed this turret swinging was same as in CMBO, I remembered it was patched somehow in CMBO but not completely, my mistake. I got four tanks shooting and spotting this one AT-gun and still it disappeared, it would be more realistic if AT-guns would be markered "perhaps knocked out or taking cover?" if tank commander or spotters cannot be sure if gun operational or not, disappearing isn't very good solution to this. 9. So, this disappearing gun simulates something I don't know, something you have been reading, can somebody clarify this little bit. AT-guns were just disappearing in the WWII battles in the gun smoke or perhaps mistaken to something else and tank commander was yelling "Oh, it is just a old rotening log in the open field which is accidentally pointing to us, don't bother to shoot it anymore". To make AT-guns more tougher when under fire, why not to make them more durable when crew is taking cover, so they can take beating much more, but hiding them when crew is taking cover isn't very realistic solution to AT-guns survivability.
  10. You didn't give any answer for that redo or undo command for waypoints, can that be somehow implemented? It would be much easier to redo waypoints if you accidentaly delete them all. When trying to restrict individual tank movements in one platoon, it would be easier to make HQ-tank to be able to move where player wants it to move with one waypoint delay only and others tanks would be just following platoon leader and not to be movable by player, anyway not at least in same extent as platoon leader, that would be much realistic systen that you have now, now you are just generally restricting any tank movement and that isn't very realistic.
  11. My four tanks were hammering this AT-gun in previous turn, almost whole turn. Now next turn, AT-gun appears and then five seconds later it disappears, so my tanks stop firing becouse they dont see the damn thing anymore, AT-gun is taking cover so it cannot be seen, it must be like that, otherwise I cannot explain it. Yes, It would be more easier to just command area fire to location of AT-gun and then cancel it after gun is destroyed. Why not to increase spotting visibility of AT-guns when crew is taking cover, it isn't very realistic to decrease spotting visibility of AT-gun when crew is just taking cover. I don't remember this spotting bug happening in CMBO, if AT-gun was spotted it didn't suddenly disappear again in the next turn after hammering it one turn.
  12. There is more and more bugs in this game every time I play this game? Now this spotting thing, in my last game enemy gun suddenly disappears just to reappear in the end of turn. Turn before my tanks were shooting this AT-gun and then it suddenly disappears? Maybe gun was taking cover so my tanks didn't notice it I think this is a bug. This game thinks that gun is taking cover so it decreases spotting for that unit, but game engine doen't take concern that gun is still there and gun barrel is still very clearly to be seen, are AT-gun crew hiding gun barrel too, when they are taking cover? Now tank TacAI is as stupid as in CMBO before patch came out, they are rotating their turrets madly, if I don't setup cover arcs. Do I actually have to setup their cover arc to salvage them from stupidity? Why TacAI cannot be as clever as it was in CMBO and don't shoot infantry troops which are behind tank when tank is moving in fast speed?
  13. There should be redo waypoints command in this game, becouse those damn pause penalties. Sometimes I just accidentaly delete too much waypoints just to get penalized with more pause again when I set my waypoints again, is this realistic? I have to be very carefull when to setup waypoints after vehicle is moving. I can understand this command delay thing, but situation tend to change in battle field, so at least tank commanders must know their terrain and how to make advantage of terrain is already written in their field manuals, then why I get penalized for giving commands which are already known by tank commanders? Why I get those stupid pause penalties by setting more waypoints for that kind of basic terrain knowledge which is very clear to real life tank commanders and tank drivers in WWII. Why TacAI don't get penalized for setting more and more waypoints, many times I see that TacAI putting huge amount of waypoints just to get around couple of trees, why player is penalized for doing the same thing, is this realistic? CMBO was realistic, CMBB isn't anymore, are you making this game more and more unplayable by purpose, are you enjoying this? At least you can do is to give somekind of redo command, if player accidentaly deletes waypoint marker, so then marker can be resetted easily. You are always stating, we are making realistic game, but why realistic game cannot be more playable, I don't understand that?
  14. This is problem I found out too, if you got one or two enemy squad ahead with or without foxhole, your entire platoon is suddenly panicking and pinned, it seems that they always manage to succesfull ambush your troops. Where is that sneak command in this game where you could ambush enemy foxhole positions? Is this anyway possible in this game?
  15. I am certainly in the group of who thinks this game needs little bit tweaking, but otherwise this game is the best strategy game there is. When running, advancing or assaulting immediate penalty should not be fast tiredness of your infantry, that is coming much later when you move long enough, but immediate penalty should be huge losses and panicking when running under fire and really great loss of ammunition when assaulting and advancing, only crawling should be extremely tiring movement method, I am in this group who thinks crawling (sneaking) tiredness should not be changed much, it is already good in CMBB. My explanation is that when I was in the army it was much much tiring to crawl for cover than run or sneak for cover. Running can be done in different speeds so you could run easily long times without rest, even with battle gear on, when not under fire and when you are under fire you ofcourse get tired faster and penalty should be panicking easily and getting killed very easily, in CMBB there is only modeled this underfire running, there should be option to run longer when not under fire. Crawling or (sneaking in CMBB) will be most exthausting movement but also safest movement method. So you will save your life when you are crawling but it will exhaust you very fast, but bullets don't hit you so easily when you are crawling. Sneaking should be slow hiding movement and if enemy isn't aware that you are there you could suprise enemy, some paratroopers and partisans should get bonuses for this movement method. There is no such movement option anymore in CMBB? Advancing cover to cover movement should be very tiring when moving under fire and in difficult conditions. Assault is done in medium or fast running speed so you can fire your weapon at the target or close enough to target to when trying to suppress enemy, so penalty is that you expend your ammo too fast and getting tired easily. All these movement methods should be very tiring when moving under fire, but not so tiring when not under fire.
  16. Sorry, if I sounded too offensive to somebody, that is just my style to handle these things. I am not anykind of poetry writer myself and my native language is Finnish so maybe I cannot express myself so clearly as others in this forum. I just meant that there is few tunable things in this game and my opinion is that these are: too tired infantry and too much waypoint pauses with tanks, otherwise this game already quite good, in the other words the best war and strategy game I have played. It's nice that you remembered my opinion before, becouse I have only dim memory that I wroted my opinion about this game before, if so, that must be about the CMBB demo.
  17. I forgot to add some plus for CMBB + infantry is actually getting killed in MG fire and in artillery fire. I don't say that this game isn't any good, Combat Mission is best strategy game there is and only strategy game which intrests me. By adding more countries I meant that there could be all those countries from CMBO included, and I like to play those good old CMBO battles with CMBB engine.
  18. Here is my opinion about this game, this game is otherwise very good but I am somehow still playing CMBO more often than CMBB, becouse I don't like very much of these new "features" in this game. I bought this game , becouse it has Finns and it has little bit better graphics than in CMBO. I didn't expect to get those few new features (more waypoints more pause and infantry is tired very fast) which are making this game unrealistic and unplayable, I wish I could somehow disable them. There should be option to "play only with CMBO features". CMBB + Finns are included. + better graphics +/- lots of new features. - waypoint pause penalty, very unrealistic especially with the tanks. - infantry is tiring and exthausting too fast, no real soldier will get so tired after running couple of hundred meters  - just too few countries, there is only one Allied country included. - this same game engine should be able to run CMBO scenarios also. CMBO + has much faster gameplay, soldiers are actually running  + you can use as much waypoints as necessary. + more countries - old graphics
  19. I am still playing CMBO more often than CMBB, becouse I don't like very much of these new "features", I am waiting for the patch to comeout. CMBO + has much faster gameplay, soldiers are actually running  + you can use so much waypoints as necessary. + more countries involved - old graphics CMBB + better graphics + Finns are included. - waypoint penalty, very unrealistic especially with the tanks. - infantry is tiring and exthausting too easily, no real soldier will get so tired after running couple of hunders meters. - just too few countries
  20. No, this isn't very realistic and I don't like this feature at all in this game. I cannot do any zig-zag evasion movement with any vehicle anymore. I can understand this command delay with infantry, but with tanks this waypoint limiter should be disabled, when I like to take around small forrest or to do evasive manuaver with vehicle this game penalizes such movement too much, why?
  21. Thanks, that is good advice, I will do that and lets see if new patch is bringing some improvements to this game
  22. I have learned now, by hard way, how to move those troops, but playing this game seem to be damn dull micromanaging all the time. I would like to do this moving troops somehow easier. In CMB0 there was this one run command I could give and playing game was smooth. I didn't need to bother so much about this micromanaging, I could consentrate more in strategy and tactics.
  23. There could be somekind of intelligent run command where computer calculates how much rest your troops needs and how fast they can move in that physical condition. If they cannot run they are just moving slower, but run command still isn't disabled. When they caching their breath they start running again, in that way you can get rid of this useless micromanaging. It doesn't help nobody to play this game in this way like it is now, this needs some improvement to do. [ November 15, 2002, 09:25 AM: Message edited by: Quenaelin ]
  24. Running can be done so that you don't get so tired, just run little bit slower and then you don't get so exthausted, I don't like when troops are just laying on the ground exthausted and then I have to put them to "sleep" for a while, that is very useless micromanaging.
  25. OK, OK, I made a mistake again, my main point is that it doesn't matter how fast they move, but they just get tired and exhausted too easily.
