  1. Personally I like to give medals for my self as in Tank Platoon II, in CM you can see results for yourself and can calculate who will earn their medals, game don't have to calculate that and I would definetly like to give medals/promotions/decorations for myself if that option will be possible in future releases of CM.
  2. Please don't mind these polygon things so much, there is no improvement if you stick to old concepts. If it would not run, I would buy such hardware which runs it. Extra power is allways helping when playing computer games.
  3. If you cannot wait untill CM II then answer is simple, just give your men that medal and record it to paper or with notepad or make somekind of database and keep account who will survive and who will not, that is it.
  4. I have heard that this (career)/campaign option would not be available until version CM II. But until that you have to reward your self with a beer when you have won a battle. Or wear your own medals/decorations from army to reward you or buy yourself real or fake decorations/medals from local (army) shop. Or use home made medals from household materials such as old coins and old 70s cloths for ribbons. All you have to do is to attach ribbon to coin with glue and you have your medal.
  5. Thanks, for information. Thats too bad that this is only multiplayer game. But, if somebody isn't working for one player version of this CMMC campaign engine, I have to still wait for CM II.
  6. I am playing about one solo Operation game or 2-3 QB per month, so I don't get bored so easily. I have completed only one PBEM and one is going on right now. I think I will never get bored/burnout with this game. Don't eat candy too much or you get sick.
  7. I don't mean bigger maps, I mean bigger campaigns, so for example you could have campaign where germans are attacking stalingrad or moscow. Bigger country 1000 km x 1000 km map would show where this battle took place, and smaller battle would be actual playing map for this battle. And you could move your armies in bigger map and battle in smaller map. And you could control resources such as factories and logistics for your armies. That is what I mean with bigger full scale campaigns.
  8. I would like to give some suggestions for new campaign system, becouse there isn't real campaigns in CM. In war campaign is used for gaining areas of land and samekind of approach could be also used in CM2. I know that operations is small scale version of this land conquering, but I hope that in CM2 it would be totally full scale. And battles could be played also, either by computer AI or by player/players so you don't have to participate in every battle for yourself.
  9. I don't know exactly how hulldown mode is calculated, but I think there is somekind of algorithm to calculate when tank is in hulldown position. I am suggesting simulation approach to CM2, so that round trajectory is actually calculated and it's effect to any obstructing objects on its way is calculated also, such as hitting to crests, trees and houses, so these kind of mistakes cannot happen anymore in CM2.
  10. Not anything stronger than coffee or else I will be losing, I have tested that.
  11. My username comes from very ancient language Quenya. http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/quenya.htm I translated my lastname to last syllable and that was it, my name in Quenya is Quenaelin.
  12. Thanks for replies, now I know that my tank have to be totally out of enemy LOS to be able to give smoke support to my troops. I hope BTS will do something to fix this smoke AI (bug/problem) in the future.
  13. Nobody else noticed this problem than me? Is this AI flaw of somekind or did I do something wrong?
  14. I was playing this PBEM when I noticed this bug/AI flaw, my tank cancelled smoke order becouse he spotted infantry troops in 900 m ??? Situation was this: I was giving smoke order to one of my Shermans for supporting infantry movement in open in 700m. So when turn starts, he cancelled my smoke order immediatly and starts shooting with MG and with main gun at infantry in 900m, what is this? Even one smoke round would helped my infantry to survive in open, now they get battered heavily by enemy fire, and without smoke support. Could computers AI be modified so that it gives one round smoke even whatever situation and then starts doing what ever AI thinks is good to do?
  15. I think gaming is going more popular right now, and there will be constantly increasing amount of home computers. And wargaming is only friction off it, but maybe in the future it will be bigger friction. It is obvious that there will be competition and time will tell which products will survive. I don't understand complaining about that, I think competition is good for progress. Though I am little bit bitter for the destiny of 3dfx.
  16. Yes, cloning was only a matter of time, I knew isntantly when CM was released that it will be cloned somehow. By the way, do anybody know how many times Doom or Quake is cloned? It is called competition, wargamers get more options but maybe BTS gets less money. I don't hope that happens, but I hope there will be more wargamers that way.
  17. Maybe Michael suggests that you should wipe it off your harddisk and play something else, but try PrintScreen first or look at your manual. I didn't like this game either. I suggest you to return it back to store where you bought it and demand that you get full return of your money or at least half of your money back, as I did (fortunately I managed to get half of my money back).
  18. This B-17 explosion isn't so good example, as you can see in the screenshots, it is only explosion effect produced by 3-D hardware, there is no real lighting or anything. If we want lighting effects in 3-D they have to be calculated with 3-D HW or processor, there is no other way a round. And there is some expensive simulators which are allready using ray-tracing, maybe not pixel by pixel (I don't know about that fact?), but somekind of light source tracing anyway (And I don't mean PC simulators, I mean simulations calculated by Silicon Graphics multiprocessor computers).
  19. Main point is that these ray-tracing calculations (which somebody are suggesting) have to be still calculated in realtime so you can pan and zoom, otherwise it will be just like 3-D animated 2-D movie (and we don't want that.)
  20. It was very clearly stated in their interview in some web page (what I can't remember) that Operation Flashpoint will be Action oriented shoot'em up and not anything more. If something is worth lookforward in simulation genre it is Steel Beasts and Steel Beasts 2, not so good in graphics but gameplay is marvellous, I tried the demo. Maybe I am still going to buy its first version, even that is lacking air support and 3-D HW, but I saw great desert mod for it and I know it will be just as easy to modify as Combat Mission.
  21. Indeed, it is not so well advertised and distributed as in bigger game companies but CM is best wargame ever and I like to support these small game software companies too. Becouse they are making good products also. I almost bought Steel Beasts too but it has few flaws, it lacked weather effects, air support and 3D-hardware support. But I hope they will (at least they are promised to be) be in Steel Beasts 2, then I will order it immediatly.
  22. Sometimes I like to listen march music from Steel Panthers 2 CD or classics from the Wargasm CD, sometimes I like techno or house music and sometimes nothing, it really depends on the mood. If you have two CD-drives you can play what you want while you are playing.
  23. People should always live in peace. Army is always needed for defence and frightening purpose, but war is totally different thing since it is always easy to glorify it and think it is something honorable. But I think it is just killing and murdering in the name your country or other weak country who cannot defend for them self. I think diplomatic aproach should allways be in first position and if that is not helping things then it should be considered if it is right to begin to kill and murder.
  24. I was plying it too, it was simply action game, not anywhere near as good as CM. I think Operation Flashpoint could be the game to look forward. It is real time modern warfare game and you can control vehicles and infantry in 1st person view, very similar to Wargasm, but more realistic. If you look very carefully you still find it in digi4fun website: http://www.digi4fun.li/MuzzleVelocity.html
