I think you are right to suggest that there was a certain amount of shooting from the hip in this case. But I also think that it is understandable if some people have been made a bit trigger happy by posters who in fact are simply tiresome whining trolls. What we all need to do is to take a deep breath and count to ten before blowing somebody out of the water. Let 'em show their true colors and then if need be, blow 'em out of the water.

Actually it's been around for several years now. I seldom play a night scenario without it (in preference, I try to avoid night scenarios altogether, but some are too good to miss).

Well y'know, waiting for new releases is just part of the Battlefront experience. Some things are just like that; they take time and can't be hurried along. Some day we will look back on all this and smile at what on balance a good experience it all was.

I, on the other hand, like it quite a lot.

My guess that is because they, unlike off-map artillery, are not firing from surveyed locations. Thus, the firing data for one is useless for other tubes.
An interesting option, if you just want to make the programmers' lives a bit more complicated, would be to be able to have on-map arty of any sort fire from a surveyed location. They would have to be in that location at the beginning of the game and they would lose that status if they move (surveying takes time, possibly more than would be available in a CM battle).

The backpack radios had a battery that was, I think, the size and weight of a car battery. I think that after a day of lugging that around, you'd know you'd done a day's work.

I don't think it was so much a matter of the British voters falling out of love with Churchill personally, after all, they returned him to Parliament in that election. They just felt that Labour would give them a better break. In other words, they had long since lost confidence in the Conservative party.

That makes sense. I have the feeling that we have placed too much emphasis on its use in tank sniping.
BTW, in case it hasn't already occurred to you, I wouldn't place too much faith on anything you see on YouTube.

    JoMC67,
Regarding my negative post rating, that's because there are some rabid haters here (imagine that) who routinely down vote my posts and have for some time , while most Forumites simply don't rate posts at all. Such are the realities of human nature and busy people focused on CM, not voting. What's being done to savage my rep is a great well-poisoner when newbies notice and ask why. That's when items I'm been asked not to/am not allowed to discuss get trotted out, yet I'm powerless to defend myself. All I can really do is let my CM posts do the talking  for me.
    Regards,
    John Kettler

Frozen is also good. And a microwave is indispensable if you don't already have one.

I think the main reason was that the increased armor of tanks required a much larger gun to defeat them. And by "larger", I mean the whole gun got very big and very heavy. Compare the stats of late war guns to early war guns and you'll see what I mean. The Germans were probably the best at keeping the size and weight of their ATGs down, but you still can't manhandle an 88 the way you could a 37mm or even a 50mm. Before the war was over, it was already clear that the increased size of ATGs mean that it was imperative that they be mounted on an SP chassis. And if you mean for them to survive in a combat environment, you better put some armor around them. And if you mean for all that weight to stay mobile, you better use tracks instead of wheels. And if you do all that, you end up with—well whaddaya know—a tank!

The thing is, the icons already change their size depending on the unit's distance from the camera. If your suggestion were implemented, it could get confusing.

Buy some games and give them away to friends. Either some who haven't tried CM yet and you'd like to introduce to the game, or someone who has one of the games and is crazy about it but can't afford to purchase one of the other ones just yet.

Wait a few years and the problem should go away. Once senility begins to settle in, you'll forget what forces you ordered almost immediately. Surprises everywhere!

Was it? I guess that would depend on the location. Nevertheless, it was widely practiced in many places and at most times, at least by young aristocratic males and serving wenches. Hypocrisy has never gone out of style.

I am largely agreeing with you. Info sharing seems a bit quick to me at times too. If I understand you correctly, you are advocating no info sharing during the game though (before the part I bolded), which strikes me as going to an absurd extreme. There are already impediments to communication, such as radios going out or terrain blocking visual LOS. I don't know if a tweak to those factors is called for; I am comfortable with their current values so far. Those things can slow down info sharing already, but in some cases it seems to be moving too readily. In the real world messages get garbled or misunderstood. I could stand to see that a little bit better modeled, but to be honest, a little of that goes a long way and too much will only frustrate and antagonize players, which is I think Rinaldi's point.
