  1. No I will not forget about unjamming. How many times has that all important vickers jammed at a critical moment in CM that REALLY made a big difference on whether or not an attack succeeded. Please.....I know that a game cannot include everything but we are not talking the code to enter houses here we are talking about a much simpler and NEEDED aspect of tactical battles. The animations could be very simple or even none at all. I can't believe this was left out. Makes you wonder what other little details are NOT in the game?
  2. No more then when they were alive units though.....
  3. This is one of those things that really doesnt make sense to me. Why in the world wouldnt you include a weapons chance of jamming in a game like this? Such a simple thing to include with a simple animation to clear a jam after a random time to simulate the jam? I can't even compare it to not getting the floormats when you buy a new car. Its like the car company doesnt even make the floormats for your new car! Focus on realism??? WTF???
  4. The best looking tanks I have seen in a game are in Red Orchestra. Just beautiful.
  5. Bummer....... I see that many troops in the game have sidearms and backup weapons. I guess that is used just if they run out of ammo eh?
  6. Do small arms jam or break? [ September 12, 2006, 05:33 AM: Message edited by: Lanzfeld ]
  7. Do the bodies of fallen troops stay on the map? I hope they do at least until the end of the battle. I can understand not leaving them out there the whole operation but I would love to see em there all battle. No framerate hit because you start the battle with all of them anyway.
  8. Health bars eh? Seeing healthbars in that preview pic is like getting handed the iceberg report as the captain of the Titanic.
  9. I know that we will become comfortable with the real-time aspect as we build time playing this game but I for one (a longtime CM player) feel like I will be slapping that pause button every ten seconds or so just to see what everyone is up to and to get some situational awareness. In the trailers things look like they happen really fast. I would love it if this game had a "rewind" button so I could catch the last ten seconds over and over. I know it is too late for that but just wishing.
  10. Well..... as we just learned...we will be able to mod that.
  11. In a nutshell....what is XML and how will we edit it?
  12. Lets just hope those new numbers are balls-on accurate. They probably are.
  13. Thanks for the reply. By "game data" do you mean what units are present in a battle or penetration values and ROF stuff? You know....game data.
  14. But I thought I read that they will have some sort of editor in the first release that allows us to change units??? Some sort of odd "not so user friendly" editor? [ September 10, 2006, 09:31 AM: Message edited by: Lanzfeld ]
  15. Looks great! I am hoping that this all works out. Now I know that you guys LOVE your tanks but I am not so thrilled about the "tankfest" I am seeing in the screenshots and AAR's. I read that we can edit the units? Is this correct? I will much more enjoy having maybe only 1 or 2 tanks. Also....there is much talk about battles being "balanced". Sometimes I just want to have my 2 or 3 squads have to clean out 1 nasty German squad in a village. Sometimes I want my lone squad to have to face a few German squads with a Tiger. What I am saying is that I don't always want a fair fight so, again, I hope we can mod the units to whatever we want to try that day. This was one of the things we all loved about CM.
  16. The Alpha Classic "Going To Town". Hooked for life.
  17. Well I just read a TON of posts in the CMBB forum about this topic. I tried some test with the same conclusions that Treeburst 155 got.....kinda. Is the infantry model the same in CMAK as CMBB. As far as how fragile they are under fire? BTW...one thing I did learn from my tests was never try it with anything less then vets.
  18. I have gone into the stock battles and adjusted the "time limit" many times. Having 18 minutes is just not realistic. I like longer battles as it gives the attacker more room to plan....and more realistic.
  19. Remember the alpha AAR "Going To Town"? I loved it because it was involved. You know...it had a story. Plus it had attack and defend for both sides. Can anyone recommend a good battle like that and....did anyone ever make "Going To Town" for CMAK? Thanks
  20. Now that makes the most sense to me. If this IS true then it is a big bug and the guys at Battlefront shoould do as they SAID they would do and fix it!
  21. I guess unless the defender also has half squads then he can cover all attacking squads.....
  22. Does anyone do this as a real tactic? I am PBEMing an enemy right now that does this exclusivley so far. I thought that when you split a squad they are subject to much easier panic when under fire. Maybe you can offset this with good HQ? Do you guys do this often? I see a benefit of having more squads to defend an area when a guy attacks. With a good HQ...does the benefit outweight the cons? [ July 02, 2006, 02:34 PM: Message edited by: Lanzfeld ]
