Since CM didn't show up (preordered last November, creditcard charged June 19th), I asumed the worst and sent two emails to BTS earlier this week. I still haven't heard anything from them regarding this, so I was just curious if there's some special email address I should use? Up here in the northern part of Norway, we're readying the longships for another trip to Wineland for a jolly good round of plunder and pillage. They should set sail on saturday. Of course, if something more interesting should come along, the whole trip will be canceled. That is, if something happens before saturday! Ok, this is not a post to compare MAC vs PC in general. Everybody got that? Now, I am just curious about how you developed the two versions. Are the programming language directly portable from one platform to the other, or did you have to start from scratch? What about visuals and sound FX? Did you develop in tandem, or did you do one system completely first? This is of course not very important in any way and I understad completely if you don't have time to answer this. It's just another way to pass a few minutes while I wait for my game to arrive (which as of writing, should be 7 to 10 days away)! Hawk Ps. Maximus, just out of curiosity, how old are you? From your profile I see that you want people to kiss the part of you that points south when you are traveling north, which ...ah... sugest that you might be a bit below average age. Then again, maybe not! And for the record, my credit card was charged on the 13th, but then I will probably have to wait between 10 to 12 days before customs get their vampiric hands on it, and then there's probably 2 more days for them to wrap all that red tape around it! I certainly won't join the ladder! In my experience ladders only ruin a game! That is of cource my personal oppinion, and I don't disrespect any who feel different. I was a part of the Settlers 3 beta-test group, and I joined a clan after the game was published. In the begining, it was a wery fun experience, but after the ladder was set up, it all went quite sour. The focus shifted from having fun, to win the game at all costs. Every gamey trick was used to score, and it generated a lot of bad feelings in the comunity, with flamewars, hate-emails etc. I left the whole S3 comunity shortly thereafter. So I'll stick to playing games where the focus is mostly on the game, and not just the end result. And for the record, I have won most of my pbem's, so it's not due to being a sore looser (which I don't think I am)! Hawk ------------------ Our's is not to reason why, our's is but to do and die!

Dag Helge and Paul C.C: DON'T YOU DEAR READ THIS!!! I am curently playing VoT as German in two PBEMs. Game 1 is against a good player (Dag Helge) and we both used the default setup (I only moved the barbwire a bit). At turn 13 he has destroyed the bunkers, inf-gun and mortars (who died during an artillery barrage against the 75mm bunker). My 75 got one 105 Sherman, and I've also killed some inf. He is now probing in force in the center and (my) right, and is hastily moving foward on my left flank. I haven't played the American side yet (to keep FOW for as long as possible), but I know more or less what he has. My only hope now is pinned on the Panther, and the fact that he has used almost all his arty on the bunkers, but I afraid he'll whupp my heinie to kingdom come in this game! In game 2, I'm playing against Paul, who is an inexperienced player. I have modified the setup somewhat. We're only on turn 6 (IIRC) and he's just killed my inf-gun, but not much else. The 75mm bunker has been shrouded in smoke almost from the start It's to early to say anything about this game, but I hope I'll do better than in game 1! Scott, I have a Creative S4 card, and I've had a lot of problems like the ones you have. I upgraded the S4 drivers, AND the drivers for my Logitech mouse at the same time (so I'm note sure which one did the trick). After that, both the BD and the GD workes like a dream! Ok, this post contains SPOILER info about the Chance Encounter scenario (you never know, there could be some new players out there...). You have been warned! Right. What I just wanted to share with you people is something I discovered during the weekend. Many of you has probably allready done it as well, but this is for the few who hasn't. It's the advantage thingy you can set when starting a scenario. In CE (which like most of you, I have played to death in the beta) I gave the US a 75% advantage and then parked all the Shermans in the rear areas behind the woods (they where drinking tea while waiting for Herr Whittman). I sent the remaining footsoldiers happily into battle, and it was a great one! Now, I think that even without the Shermans a 75% advantage is a bit to much. It could also be that my foreknowledge of this battle played a part. Anyway, I got 4 complete platoons, each with 2 zooks and 2 MGs, pluss 3 mortars and 3 zooks to spare, and lots of leaders. It was (for me) a very enjoyable way to freshen up an old scenario, and trying various settings on CE an VoT will probably keep me happy (at least content) till the real deal lands at my local post office!
