The figures from the original close combat manual are Bazooka 18lbs (8.1kg) -grenade 3.5lbs Schreck 20.5lbs (9.3kg) -grenade 3.2kg the schreck had a much heavier grenade, which is probably y it was the dogs. hope this helps. The motto of my home town is "IN VERITATE VICTORIA" which translates as "Victory Lies in the Truth". i have always liked that one ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. The Archer and the HUNT command in CM
Blue Macs replied to M Hofbauer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
in my CM experience the best way to use the archer is like the other allied tanks that cannot stand up to much punishment, move it fast from cover to cover without engaging. then when you want to engage with the archeryou reverse a short distance from cover with the target already designated, this way it does not have to reverse to far and will engage. it is a bit awkward tho and i agree that the hunt command should make it go gun first otherwise its just a useless plod command . hope that helps BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. Infantry vs. tanks up really close.
Blue Macs replied to coe's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
coe, do you mean the Narvdgfudfvnfdjgnhamsteropweomcvbdwaffejob by any chance. i agree tanks should provide cover in the game esp if the tank was abandoned. maybe with yours the brave TC popped a hatch and rolled a grenade down to your troops (or used a hamster to chase them) ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. Pyrotechnic French buildings
Blue Macs replied to Claymore's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
do a quick test scenario and watch a 14 inch naval shell land, (the blast wave is large and obvious with these rounds) you will see the blast waves are orangy yellow and very rapid, the dust cloud from the buildings is white and slow. ive never seen any damage done by the cloud myself but as you will see on the thread mentioned above the jury seems to be out on this. hope that helps BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. I love the 'lowsky and tophat' thing, that is very cool. i have tried a similar thing by hunting from behind a building a few metres out to get a shot off then have him reverse before the end of the turn. lowsky is sort of a combination of this and the manuals suggestion for getting hull down, ie hunting from behind a rise with a target selected so your tank engages while mostly behind the rise. Another thing that has worked for me, it seems sensible but i'm not sure if it would count as gamey or whether people actually did it, is to use the Churchill VII and the Firefly together. The C VII engages first from the front and ties up the enemy, this pup can stand up to pretty much anything the germans can throw at him, then the Firefly with his 17 pounder can move up on the distracted enemy from anther position (or even from front on with his gun) and take out the bad guy thats my idea anyway, hope it helps, and dont use it against me in a pbem BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. i'd like to see this aswell, i've tried putting vehicles on the map then making the area a burning tile so as soon as the battle started the vehicle would be abandoned on the map, but even jeeps reverse out and leg it BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. Definative Guide To Tactics??
Blue Macs replied to FletchLives's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
hey andreas how about that pbem. "Rommels Infantry Tactics" was recommended to me when i first started posting, and it was well worth it BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. I find i see foxholes giving away the enemy very early, usually if the unit is quite small tho such as snipers or AT teams. a ten man infantry team mostly appears at the same as the foxhole. i agree with optional foxholes tho as snipers and AT teams are usually the people you dont want seen for ambushes etc BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF.
