  1. Its FULL AI capable. so you may have fun playing AXIS or ALLIES, no Problem. I hope the Repository is up early, as i have no website for downloads. Hope also to get some arrangements done for the Next patch.
  2. Thanks Seamonkey! nice to have some feedback, i thought it will pass by without remarks, after long nights of testing. Tanks for the feedback, must say i almost allways played Axis ( as German;) ) 1)so how is the feel of the Decisions for Roosevelt to force or not the Oil Embargo? not too much conspiracy theory critrics? 2)Was the Axis Invasion in Crete well played out by AI? 3)as you are in 1942: did you force the Argentinian Issue? this is quite more vital in this Scenario... 4)How where the Decisions abóut Mobilizing the British Commomwealth? did you force Burma? or only the Crown Colonies? Some comments? 5)What you think on the Light Carriers? 6)Did you see the Axis raiders in the Pacific? did they cause the headache as expected? 7)didnt Axis AI not DoW on URSS until now 1942? if yes would be helpful to send me a savedgame of 22.6.41 and 31.12.41. 8) how did you see the Japanese Invasions in Singapore? or are you still not far enoug in the Game. The Axis AI this time really Invades Singapore. 9) What about the Phillipines Annexation Issue? Realisitc or too much critics / Conspiration therory? any other thougths are welcome.
  3. The Vichy France Issue was Really a headache to me most of the Design phase. Like Hubert pointed out, i liked more reaction in Vichy Territories, specially North Africa, but even also in my mod i understood that it is impossible to have Vichy France Neutral with USA if it is at war with UK, after the Mers El Kebir Attack, so this had ( im really Sorry ) to be reduced to the minimum in order to permit playability. I even thought to make France/Vichy France majors, in order to permit partial activation, but this would be oversized. Fact was 1)that is was impossible to represent Vichy France with Stopped Political Relations with UK, even almost belligerent and Hostile towards UK "Imperialism" while neutral with Germany and USA. 2)Represent Vichy France at War with the USSR ( which it was oficially after 22.6.41 ), while neutral with USA... so i was sooo sorry about one of my most wanted "Mers El Kebir Events" to be IMPOSSIBLE to realize in this game.
  4. maybe the "surprise"-Attack could be abstracted depending to the Sub Mode, i.e. if the Sub is in "hunt mode" the Diving percentage is lowered by i.e. 25%, while the discovering Surface Ship don't get damaged, while in Stealth mode the Diving probability gets up 25%, AND the Surface discovering Ship gets damage. Allso figuring the numbers one should abstract that the Units represent more than one single ship/boat.
  5. Well i had once around 340%, but unfortunateley this readiness only endured for 2 or 3 turns. it was after i took Moscow AND Chunking in a same turn, quite nice. This effect never stay long time, and flats out in in roughly 5 turns, so act wise and use this "turbo" as long as it lasts .-)
  6. to add a little flavour to this issue here is an interisting book on this subject: "Chief Culprit: Stalin's Grand Design to Start World War II" from Viktor Suvorov See Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Chief-Culprit-Stalins-Design-Jacket/dp/1591148383/ref=sr_1_2/182-4003703-5628428?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270573425&sr=1-2 Quite interisting Historical Details there... It's like Napoleon said one day: "History is the Lie commonly agreed upon"
  7. 2) Try Following: do you see your UK Carrier with a little green light down left? Then try following: Right Click on the Carrier and select "Tactical" not "Mix" nor "CAP" . Then move the Carrier to the Axis sub and observe the probable result of 0:5 (if not better) to YOUR ADVANTEAGE! CAP is standart setting and means "Combat Air Patrol" and this is not very useful for Attacks on Submarines. This would also adress your issue 6. Tac Air. When you use you Carrier carefully you can blow out Axis Naval Forces before end of 40, and "Britain rules the Seas" again easily:p Tactical would mean historically the Carrier Airfleets load "Torpedoes", while CAP would mean they load Cannons only. Mix would mean there would be 50% Airfleets with Cannons and 50% with Torpedoes, but Mixing may not have a blowing result.
  8. Maybe you heard about Project Habakkuk? Allies planned to some crazy things, maybe you thought about this when getting stuck : an Aircarft Carrier Built out of Ice: "In 1942, a British scientist named Geoffrey Pyke—an adviser to Lord Mountbatten, Chief of Combined Operations—came up with the idea of cutting off a large piece of an arctic iceberg or ice floe, leveling its surface, and towing it into the ocean to serve as a landing platform. The platform would melt eventually, of course, but Pyke believed that a large enough piece of ice would last at least a few months—longer if it were insulated on the outside and cooled from within by a refrigeration system. Better yet, the platform couldn’t be sunk; even if it were damaged by torpedoes or bombs, repairs could be made simply by freezing new chunks of ice into place." http://itotd.com/articles/575/project-habakkuk/
  9. Thanks Hubert! and you know this is fully yours, and it would be an honor for me if you would use any of the Skripts or Adds there
  10. 1) not really, they annoyed the Allies some more until 45, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Social_Republic 2)As historically, this was the situation of the things from late 43 on..., for Italy see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Sasso_raid
  11. I would rather opt for Greece as a Step to Egypt: if you get 2 Paratroops for mid 40, you can invade Greece, and make it surrender in 1 turn ( Airborne from South Italy ), then you have Crete as Location for 2 Tacs or at least 1 Airborne, these can be helpful for Alexandria.
  12. i have a Scenario of "Operation Sabine" ( Anglo-Iraqui War ) quite advanced, but no more time. if you're interested i could send you the Map which is around the Middle East.
  13. I think you moved some unit into the "newly aquired Terrain" right? If so, then the result is correct. The (Wiki) Matsukoka-Henry-Pact let Japan acces to Territories through wich the Kunming Railroad goes. They had the Right to "garrison" this territory with <6000 forces. Well after moving ( obviously tempting for Japan.. ) more than 6000 guys into this territory , F-Ind got on defcon-max ( simlating joining Allies ). If you would have been a friendly guy , and not have moved into the new territory, they wouldn't have joined allies, but it's simply too tempting:D
  14. it's quite difficult to simulate "territorial waters", this is i.e. adressed in the "Pan American Neutrality Zone", for other Naval movements, one could try to behave "inoffensiveley", this applies in several Unit Positions where "agressive" positions may trigger reactions. To Illustrate modernly: If Iran would move it's Naval Fleet on shore of New York, this could possibly be seen as Agressive, similarly US fleets in the Gulf of Persia may be seen as agressive as well from Iran... in few words: Mostly a common sense movement prevent undesired reactions. Silent Mode is there not the problem, but the fact of Military Presence in Territorial Waters.
  15. 1) a real Plan Z was a sort "idle wish"; they could have said: ok lets go to Mars - totally out of reach. Even to finish this Carrier was a matter of impossibility... a Real Plan Z would maybe look like this: "If we invest each Round until 1942 the Sum of 450MPP ( which we don't have ) we will get the fleet Plan Z... 2)Brest for 100MPP: You can PLACE Naval units in Brest, you don't have to make the running the gauntlet through the Channel...
  16. Well this is one side of the medal. The other is: Norway feels threaten by Allied Naval Units raiding in Norways Territorial Waters it's International Trade Relations with Germany. The "protecting" , or simply the Allied Naval Presence can also bee interpreted like a harassement. In point of view of both Powers, each tried to "protect" Norway from the others Agression... so is history seen from the beginning up to our days... Probably each Nation with foreign trade would try to protect it's international trade links, so i think this is "normal" behaviour, maybe an aditional waring to stay away could be helpful.
  17. Exactly. If you have an "old" Fleet from WW1 ( like UK ) the expensive "Naval Warfare Upgrade" helps to simulate WW1 battleships, while the ones built later (Production Queue, Unit Events) receive the "Actual" tech level. this is fantastically Historic. in other Words: once you have your Ship built , it's only upgradeable in Anti Sub Tech , not any more (Cost) in Naval tech, so you must live with the Tech level it has. If you look in Wiki, most of the British BB's are from 1915-1920 ( Warspite, Malaya etc ) while only some late comers in the Prodcution Queue ( George V etc are "modern" ). compared to that the Axis German Ships are state of the art ones built in the late 30' ( Japanese ones are also mostly WW1 )
  18. I'll send you an updated "Terrain" sprite this week, that could fit. As the Quattra depression Zone only needs 1 complete Depression-Sand-Tile (while there are 4 disponible in the sprite), i simply copypasted a "Desert-Sand" on the Depression and woops i have a Depression looking like Desert. for the Himalaya i would propose the same: Copy a "Mountain" tile in the Depression , and you have the Depression looking like Himalaya, only Problem is if you move the cursor over it, it says "Depression"; maybe then simply change the name in "Inaccessible".
  19. Well maybe it would be an idea of adding some more "forbidden terrain" like the Quattra Depression Fields. I also had one time a case where Rommel crossed the Sahara  to conquer Bazzaville instead of moving towards El Alamein. After that i put a "Depression Line Fields" and now they wont cross any more the Sahara. Something like this could maybe help for Himalaya as well?
  20. Well, i have set 1 UK BB and CR on Naval Tech 1, 2 Australian on "1" so far. Japanese have "old" BB's, so "0", similar for USA ( Pearl Harbour Fleet ) others on the Queue come mostly with "newest" tech. I had run this only one night in AI vs AI, result seems not to be totally out of the possible results, so i think this is a simply awesome idea to prevent Exploits from i.e. an Italian Navy. ( i reduced the Italian "costs" to 110% from 150% as well ).
  21. Awesome Idea! this is MOD compatible as one can set the Upgrade cost of Naval Warfare from 0-100%. I tried this in my comming soon mod, and it works fine. This means: UK and USA HAVE naval Warfare 1, but most Ships are not "Upgraded" ( i.e. Warspite from 1915...) so as an Upgrade costs 200MPP this is an improbable action, making the Fleets more historic: i.e. Italian BB's from 1916 then will probably never be upgraded exept the New arriving one, means the Player must decide well where to deploy the modern Fleet and where to leave the Antic Fleet. This is Simply an AWSOME Idea - Simple, Historic AND Prevents cheats ( i.e. Axis Upgrading the whoole Italian Fleet at once. ) THANKS! i'm shure while Hubert reads this it will be considered seriously.
  22. Seen from a Strategical Point if i.e. a number of Planes as you write whipe out a entire corps this is the global view. You must imagine on the Tactical approach the fact that an Army / Tank Group or whatever "disappears" should more be seen as the "unit" is dispersed / scattered or somehow totally "unready" ( imagine unarmed soldiers withdrawing by foot or on any moving Cars, dispersed, and any leading structure lost ) It's nit that 40.000 guys are killed but more like i wrote they dont form any more a combat ready unit, but rather civils escaping. Therefore if the Supply of the Units was above 5, this means the "Unit" can be bought at half price, as Strategically seen this is like it becomes again a Command Structure. Just try to zoom/focus bit back from the Tactical Level to the Strategic Level ( this is Strategic Command , not Tactic Command:D)
  23. Must say that i once received a Manual from Sid Meiers Civilization 4 with about 2-300 exellently presented Pages , and i never looked into it; i wonder there are even people looking and reading Manuals....
  24. you may see this like this: AI cracked the Jackpot. statistically 1 Chit into any Tech from level 0->1 has a probability of 54% to come in 12 Turns ( 1 Year ), but as with roulette there exists even a probability to get 5 Tech improvements in 5 rounds ( 0,00003125% )... and yas you know there is allways a Lotto winner even if it's more improbable to Win the Jackpot than to get thunderstuck.
  25. For the Airfleets: GOTO: Editor / Drop Down Menu "Campaign" / Select "Edit Country Data" / Then in the new Window click "Combat Target Data" / Select Unit Tactical Bomber and the Country(s) and then reduce the Tank Attack Value from 2 to 0, or choose the Tank Group , and Lift the Air Defense Value from 1 to i.e. 10, then Save. btw fyi: the Junkers JU-87 was called by the German Army "Flying Can Opener" and "TankBuster" not for nothing... Similar for the HQ: in "Edit Country Data" select "Unit Cost Data" there Click on "HQ" and reduce the Value 250 to i.e. 1
