  1. Hmm, yes, it might take quite a little while to simulate the whole war though...substantially more than 6 years I think Nothing stopping you from playing SC2, deciding you liked a particular scenario, porting that to CMC as a campaign and playing it out! Only time and sanity will get in the way Hunter
  2. Sorry. 1. No, reinforcements must be scheduled by the campaign editor to arrive at a certain time and place, not script dependent. 2. Still looking at fortifications and testing them. The MAIN mechanism is troops building them in the game, generally lower level fortifications (say, basic pits). The idea of having already built fortifications at the start is a good one, and being looked at. Hunter
  3. One of the problems of a forum for a campaign is that it could be used to break the fog of war. So long as the FOW is respected, it could be a good idea though.
  4. Yes. There is a chance that your troops will be fanatical. It depends on their Readiness, and the leadership of their commander. Hunter
  5. I've read the manual and searched the boards, so I must be doing something really dumb. When the Canadian Strat Bomber becomes available, I hit 'Operate' to get an operational move going, but it doesn't seem to have any legitimate places to go in Britain, only at home in Canada? Do I need to build transports to move it to Europe? Thanks, Hunter
  6. ...and Prime Movers for the Russians only so they can move their guns operationally. Won't appear in CMBB.
  7. Correct. THe transport elements will move the slowest elements first, thus providing the fastest possible, slowest element. Hunter
  8. Yes, Exactly Off Board Artillery will need to be 'on board' in CMC, i.e on the strat map. If they want to stay in range, they will need to move. MEs with multiple artillery types will show you when htey are fully, partially or not at all in range for the unit they support. H
  9. Great. I might even play myself, If I didnt know how embarrassing it is to be outplayed in one's own game Cheers, Hunter
  10. LOL. *Mutters under breath* You just can't win, you just can't win. *Wanders off shaking head*
  11. Guys, Sorry there has been a lack of updates lately. The team is working hard to get the latest beta out to our team of dedicated beta testers. These people are also creating a great range of campaigns for the game. Creating campaigns is a lot of work, and so it will definitely be useful for you all to have a range to choose from when the game ships. We haven't added in a lot of exciting new features or anything lately, which makes it hard to make this interesting! Basically we have been fixing bugs and making the features that we have already announced more stable. One of the features that we have been trying to fix is the fog of war rules were being broken by our 'unit details' screen. As you recall, there is full relative spotting implemented in the campaign. So a commander will only see what he has had reported to him, or can see himself. Unit details, particularly of enemy maneuver elements, should always be 'filtered' by the fog of war mechanisms. That is, when you look at a bunch of units, you should see more detail of their composition at close range than you do at far ranges, etc. This is true of friendly troops as well. If you haven't got a report, but are relying on seeing something, you won't know details of casualties, current readiness levels, etc. (Sometimes I wish I had designed a simpler game!). Anyway, we are fixing it up to work properly. We have recently added two new buttons to the dash / controls. One is the same as backspace in CMBB, that is, cancel the previous order for a unit. Except in CMC, this is complex! If an order is already assigned to a unit, then they will be carrying it out at some remote location. 'Hitting backspace' actually results in a 'cancel that order' order being sent to the unit via the current best communication channel. WHEN they get that order, they will stop doing what they were previously ordered to do, but not before. Now imagine that there is a unit remote from you with 3 move orders in a row. You hit Backspace 3 times, thus creating an order to cancel all their orders. Then you change your mind, before you have sent that order! That's what the other button does...cancels the issue of any orders at all this turn (and you can start constructing them again). I don't know whether that is illuminating or confusing Anyway, hang in there, CMC is very much alive and kicking. I recently had the chance to demonstrate it to a lively bunch of CMBB fanatics, and the feedback was pretty good. They are looking forward to it even more than before. Cheers, Hunter
  12. kump, correct. YOu can change the look of the woods or you can add a 'beauty' which is a specific non-functional thingy to a quadrant to make it look cool. Nothing changes in CMBB. Hunter
  13. Adding additional (non functional) things to the terrain
  14. We are delivering a new beta to the beta testers shortly. That testing will tell us more about how much work there is to do.
  15. The editor of a campaign can do that, yes.
  16. Happy to come. Let's sort the date. Hunter
  17. You'll be happy to know that if you get ambushed, you won't have any setup to worry about at all
  18. Yes, the units will be moddable (in terms of how they look), but not in terms of how they are (which is dictated by CMBB). It will also be possible to mod the terrain, and add in new stuff.
  19. OK, I should have thought more about this (I was slightly wrong). If you take say D1 in a battle. You could then move North to B3 without taking the rest of D1-D4. Your movement would be interrupted however if any enemy on D2, D3 or D4 attacks you in the interim. Hunter
  20. Can you move units C3 to C2? </font>
  21. Movement is not diagonal, you can only move across the edges of a quadrant. From C2 (which I assume is a quadrant of a tile, C), you would need to mvoe through D1 to B3. If the enemy held any of the D tile, you would trigger a battle, and would need to take all of D1-D4 before moving on.
  22. You can use the CMBB map editor to make 'random' maps and then edit and use them in CMC, yes.
  23. Sounds like an ideal mix of troops to be interesting and the CMBB games playable. Can't wait to play it
