A Peng Challenge Too Far
BFCElvis replied to David Aitken's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I sometimes don't read a thread until it has ben locked. I figure that a locked thread my have something interesting in it. In a recently lockedthread I read thet Peg shaves in the shower with no mirror. I did not know that about him. I have been shaving in he shower with just soap and no mirror for years and years. I find it gives a much smoother shave and I never have razor burn. It must have somethingto do with being wet and warm the whole time. I check out if I have gotten all areas by touch. Any type of soap will do. Currently there is Dove in my shower but it could be anything. I touch up the sideburn areas with a mirror and jut arm water when I get out. I thought this small slice of my life would be interesting to you Wankers. -

Wankers? These are some real Wankers. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28620-2001Sep14.html (I know I have gone off my normal Wanker post and will probably get a 2 week vacation from posting but the article blew my mind) -

Shame and defeat were handed to me twice yesterday first van scraps St. Louis Rams stole an overtime heartbreaker against my Philadelphia Eagles. I baked in the hot sun until deep into the 3rd quarter when the sun began to set over The Vet. Oh yeah..Lawyer beat me too. Whatever. After their heroic 4th quarter I did not think the crowd could get much higher. But someone on the southern part ofthe staduim must have broken out a huge spliff and the Eagles seemed to have gotten a contact high because all of the hard work from the 4th quarter was for nothing. Final score Elvis - 17 Lawyer - 20 (well that was some score I saw yesterday....I think I covered the spread) -
FREE BEER for Washington area CM players...

You are right Mr4. Last time I shamelessly begged for beers the lighting was VERY VERY dim. But I have always been there when I have begged. -
FREE BEER for Washington area CM players...
BFCElvis replied to Lawyer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I would love to make th gig but it is a 2 1/2 hour trip and I don't think I can. But I will vouch for Lawyer. When me wife and I were in DC in May we met up with him an James Bailey at a neat joint in DC and the bastard would take no money from us. There was probably only 65% of the conversation focusing on CM ...mostly so we wouldn't bore my lovely wife who was with child at the time but still a trooper. So he is a man of honor when it comes to offering to buy beer. AND he is actually a coolguy to hang out with. I am afraid that he is planning this prematurely as a celebration of what he thinks will finally be a victory over me in our current game. And Mark4 there is no beer cam in Washington because it is not a real city and seems have have very few "bar" bars. -

My good friend the Lawyer is resisting surrender to me at this very moment. Perhaps you ccan drop him a line and talk some sense into him because I don't think he has any. -

You can start with a bunch of half squads. You can also make them start as tired or weary. But I don't think you can make a 12 man squad start with 8. Or a half squad startwith 2.

Really dumb question (i think)
BFCElvis replied to Captain Wacky's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Great to see you again Moon!!! I am intrigued by your comment as well. I have been thinking all along that CMBB was essentially new terrain and units and maybe some tweaking of the game system. But a "whole new ballgame"? I wonder what that can mean. -
OK folks you have a half hour to dust off your credit cards so you can purchase me a birthday beer. I will be at O'Neals in Philadelphia with my wife and new born son and a bunch of friends. Don't be cheap you bastards drop $7 US for a good cause.http://www.onlinevenue.com/onlinestore/stellacam/stellacam_index.asp

All Quiet on The Eastern Front.
BFCElvis replied to James Crowley's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
The response from Steve is something I had heard from BTS before. It makes complete sense. So many of the basics of the game were already written for CMBO. And Andreas you are more correct than you might know. I read the BTS forum in each of it's locations for probably a year and a half before I ever posted. The reason I didn't was because my knowledge was no where close to what people were posting and because of that felt I didn't have anything to contribute until just before the beta demo came out. Due to the sucess of the game and the heavy influx of people (both VERY good things) having focused intelligent discussions about details of weapons, vehicles and troops is now untenable. Before I always thought it was a big help for BTS to have input on those issues. Now it would be a waste of their resources. Additionally I assume they are now having those same conversations in a more private forum. -
The chance you have all been waiting for will be here this evening. Yes that is right..you will all be able to buy me a beer for my birthday. At 7pm EDT I, along with my wife and son, will be having pre-dinner drinks with real flesh and blood friends. You are invited to watch this event and buy me beer so I can still milk my real world friends later. http://www.onlinevenue.com/onlinestore/stellacam/stellacam_index.asp

What kind of a CM player are you?
BFCElvis replied to ParaBellum's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
On the attack I tend to move to contact and attempt to write down my enemy a bit and then provide covering fire to advance further. Alsoon the attack I try to time my advance to arrive at the VLs on the second to last turn or the last turn most of the time. This is not to be confused with a gamey flag rush (which I hve ben accused of) but a methodical advance while taking advantage of all the time I have. -
Define 'Peng' Before I Go Nuts
BFCElvis replied to Steven Seagal's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I'll field ha one for you olebooya. All Peng threads let locked at some point. Otherwise they would take up too much space and piss off the normal peopl that visit this forum. When it comes time to start a new thread one is supposed to email Matt with the new thread name and receive his blesing. If others crop up before the official new home is created they must be shut down quickly lest sewage leaks out. -
The perfect 100:0 formula Vs AI
BFCElvis replied to REVS's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I had a 100-0 victory against a human in a TCP/IP game. I was on the attack and the game went about 15 turns before the computer autosurrendered him. I did nothing unusual and advanced the entire time. There was no big arty used or anything out of the ordinary. As we got to turn 8 or so I started to tell him how shocked I was that I was still at 100%. I then told him again every turn "I am still at 100%". I am not making this up. There was nothing gamey about what I purchased or how I attacked. I did use excellent tactics (if I do say so myself) and got good sight lines early that covered my advancing infantry. I guess when my infantry was close enough to really start hurtinh him he was pinned enough where he couldn't fire back. If I had known it was going to autosurrender I would have saved the game just before so that it could be viewed by curious people. I do have the final score screen shot saved (on my home PC). -

Peng Challenge Thread - From Barbarous to Boring
BFCElvis replied to Joe Shaw's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Now that jdmorse has been put in his place I think it may be time to stir the pot by bringing everyone up to date on my PBEM games. Wildman was so shocked by my 14" gun (sit down bauhaus) that he i still reeling from the shock. I did just notice that I never played the last turn he sent. I am conducting a perfect assault across virtually open ground. Joanna,in our Blood Hamster, has finally gotten some troops across the bridge. However they are in such poor shape and my troops are still in great shape so I expect a surrender fromhim shortly. If he doesn't do it the AI probably will. LEON, whom I hate, is taken a bit of a beating in what is now a battle of attrition. His armor keeps getting knocked out leaving his infantry exposed to the relentless pounding of my Shemies. Lawyer was getting smacked around so bad that he had to leave the country. Lorak and I have been engaged in one of the silliest games in CM history. I haven't seen a file from him in a long time. Prhaps he has decided it is to silly to play this meeks nightmare. My only hope for this game is that it ends in a draw..neither of us deserves to lose this thing.....or win it. A final word to mensh and Berli and Germangirl. I have now played all three of your mini games and found them to be a great deal of fun. Keep up the good work.
