quote:
Originally posted by Napoleon1944: I am no good at vehicle painting, but I can scan some color references for desert schemes if anyone is interested. I was also thinking of making the palm trees.

Napoleon1944, E-mail me any scans you have, I can definitely make use of them (Gordon_Molek@3com.com). MikeT, My "boss" just told me to pencil your Desert Rat mods into my schedule. Gordon

quote:
Originally posted by Maximus: That looks great Gordon. Are those the Hi-res versions as well?

Maximus, Those are indeed Marco's famous hi-res Shermans. If you look closely, you'll also notice that Marco re-did the hull to reflect the early superstructure. Gordon

As I posted over in one of the "desert mod" threads, Marco and I are working on a Kiwi mod that's focused on the Italian front. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1394876&a=10415756&p=35259547&Sequence=0&res=high It's still very much in the early prototype stage, and any comments/suggestions are welcome.
quote:
Originally posted by MikeT: Gordon looks great. Would you consider doing some British Desert Rat Shermans, Stuarts, and Cromwells for my Desert Fox, Desert Rats TC? I have worked up most of the terrain, just need to tweak the brush a bit and fine some good desert tree pics. Problem is that I cannot seem to convert vehicle BMPs into something that would be acceptable to the gaming community. MikeT seacat@flash.net

Well, you'll have to clear it with my boss Marco and I don't have much in the way of reference materials for desert camouflage schemes. I do have an M3 of the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars, 4th Armoured Brigade in desert colors that could be used for a Stuart. If you have anything you can scan and send me, I'll see what I can do. Well, this isn't directly related to anyone else's work on a desert mod, but Marco and I are working on a Kiwi mod that's focused on the Italian/desert front. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1394876&a=10415756&p=35259547&Sequence=0&res=high It's still very much in the early prototype stage, and any comments/suggestions are welcome. Flaming Turkey Stew Update on CMHQ!!!!
Gordon replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Originally posted by PawBroon: In the Churchill pics you took, the Crocodile trailer is very much the color of teh tank. What MOD are you using for that one? I use the weathered one and it's quite different me think... TY

The Churchill mod includes the trailer for the Crocodile. There is only the Khaki Drab version of the trailer. I figured the maintenance depot had more important work to do than to apply camo to the trailers. Gordon -
Unbuttoned tanks and improved accuracy?
Gordon replied to Epée's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Yet another senseless thread death. Won't you help? Please call 1-800-STOP-DOUG and help bring the senseless thread slaughter to an end. Operators are standing by. Gordon -
CMBO AI Arty predictable as clockwork
Gordon replied to Tiger's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well, I'll sometimes use a couple of rounds of light arty (60mm - 81mm mortars) to button up an enemy AFV at long range so that I can move my AFVs into position to (hopefully) get in the first shot. Probably not a "normal" tactic, but it works wonders sometimes. Gordon -
Molek's Churchill Version 2 Mod Available --->
Gordon replied to kump's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Note for all you mod happy folks. Enjoy the ugly Churchill. It's one of the only models I've encountered so far with separate left and right turret sides, so you can have different "kit" on each side and can have turret side numbers, etc. that aren't reversed on one side. Cromwell & Churchill Hi-Res MODS?
Gordon replied to Jeff Duquette's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well, it so happens I'm working on a mod for the Cromwell and I decided to revise my Churchill mod, so I'll be fixing the AVREs gun. Both are still lo-res. Gordon [This message has been edited by Gordon (edited 11-13-2000).] -

quote:
Originally posted by 109 Gustav: Will it also have branches for camo? Please? And I have to agree with Fluffers, British tanks would look really nice if there was a Mickey Mouse mod. I could be wrong, but weren't you going to do that? Please do, British tanks are so drab now.

Well, Mickey Mouse Ears was usually only used on British light armor and softskins. A mod I did with Marco of his recently released Firefly/Sherman IIa mod added camouflage to the British tanks. It should be available soon on Garry Kump's site. Gordon

95% Unrealistic forces because of unit cost
Gordon replied to Insu's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I guess it depends on what you want the vehicle for. Don't think a squad will be very comfortable in a jeep. A Volkswagen Beetle if it's parked on a college campus maybe, but not a jeep. Gordon -
Magua Half-Tracks v2 Mods Available --->
Gordon replied to kump's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
There is an incredible team of mod makers out there (in no particular order): Magua, Marco, Fernando, Gunslinger (seemingly gone, but not forgotten), Kwazy Dog and Tiger. My hats off to all of them. I wish I was up to their level of capability. I may have to hang up my paintbrush in envy. Gordon -
Cromwell & Churchill Hi-Res MODS?
Gordon replied to Jeff Duquette's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Oops. I can re-do my Churchill to include the AVREs gun. Guess I missed that. Unfortunately, that mod isn't hi-res. Gordon -
How many of you use Gunslinger's mods?
Gordon replied to jpinard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
The key mods I use are (and I use lot's of others): Gunslinger's, Magua's, MDMP-1 and MDMP-2, Marcos' (and of course mine) The great thing is that I've still got lot's more to play with and try out. But those are the big ones. Gordon -
Yes, a very nice mod. (Spoken by a man who's also done a Hetzer mod) Hetzers are such sweet little tank destroyers. Gordon

ModMakers - What are you currently working on?
Gordon replied to jpinard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I just sent Matt a camo'd Sexton and a "hasty" camo-job used by Hitlerjugend on PzIVs in France. Both are low res. The PzIV is not nearly as pretty as the recent hi res versions, but might make for a nice change of pace. Gordon -
The "Mickey Mouse" camo on the Daimler is a little toned down from the real MM-camo due to the way the textures are mapped onto CMBO's 3-D model. It's really more "Mickey Mouse like" than true "Mickey Mouse", but I thought it captured the feel. Gordon
-
Yeah, And you can see the phillips head screws that they used to assemble the turrets with. Gordon

PzIV mod wanted... U got it?
Gordon replied to Oddball_E8's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Originally posted by Tiger: I have finished the bmps for the pzIV model. I removed all the stock texture and acheived a uniform gray, ready for texturing. Here it is: The bmps are ready to apply textures and I have them zipped up if you want them. Hope this can be of some help for your dream pzIV. -john [This message has been edited by Tiger (edited 10-09-2000).]

Tiger, I'd love a copy. You never know when you could use a factory fresh PzIV. Why just the other day it would have come in handy while sitting in traffic. btw, I'd love to know your technique for removing old camo-schemes. It's my biggest limitation as a mod designer. Give me a blank texture and I'm fine. Thanks, Gordon -

pzvg, Got a set from Oddball_E8. I won't be starting anything for awhile, so you've got first crack at 'em. Gordon
