1. I am both sorry and pleased to say that the sign-up for "Team Rumble II: Rumble in the Ardennes" is now CLOSED. Sign-up has exceeded my expectations, and I now need to go back and increase the size of the opposing forces to give everyone unit(s) to play with. MrSpkr, I don't know if I've gotten e-mail from you, but if not, please send a subscription e-mail and you will still be let in. Everybody else, I'll still accept replacement requests (you'll be put on a waiting list to replace the inevitable drop-outs). This one's going to be big! Thanks everyone, we'll get started soon! Please be patient while I finalize everything. Gordon
 2. WARNING! The Team Rumble II slots are filling up fast, but even if you don't make the initial cut, there will be reinforcement slots available as well as replacement slots (there will always be a few drop-outs), so get in your requests soon. Gordon
 3. Thanks, Hopefully Old Dog will be able to straighten out the "Turns 1-5" problem. btw, check out the call for players for "Team Rumble II" Gordon
 4. That's right. I'm looking for victims, I mean players , for Team Rumble II. Notice that the word "Tank" has been stricken from the title. Yes, we're going to try a combined arms rumble this time, where each player will control either a single vehicle or gun, or, 1 or more platoons of infantry. What's the situation? The Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge. Elements of Kampfgruppe Peiper are trying to slash through the disorganized American defenses in the Ambleve valley and breakout across the Meuse River. If they succeed, there will be nothing between the Germans and the deep-water port of Antwerp, and the Germans will have split the Allied forces in two. If interested, and who wouldn't be , please send an e-mail to "g.molek@att.net" with your preference of Axis or Allied side (don't worry about particular unit selection as that will be negotiated among your team-mates). To further enhance the fog-of-war, you won't even know how many players are on the opposing team. NOTE: I can make no guarantees that this scenario will be well balanced (although the first one resulted in a draw ), but it will be a blast. Act now, this is a limited time offer. Taxes, license and destination fees, extra. Your mileage may vary. Offer void where prohibited. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. No deposit, no refund. 5. I've sent Bob e-mail asking him to check out the Turns 1-5 link. It was working before. Honest. Wow, talk about synchronicity. Gordon [ 06-01-2001: Message edited by: Gordon ] [ 06-01-2001: Message edited by: Gordon ]
 6. The AAR for the first ever CM:BO Team Tank Rumble is now available at Old Dog's CM Central. Old Dog's CM Central See what all the brew-up (I mean Bru-ha-ha) is about. Special thanks to Old Dog for hosting the AAR (I've chewed up a fair amount of his web-space). And of course, thanks to all the participants. Enjoy! Gordon [ 05-31-2001: Message edited by: Gordon ]

My apologies to everyone, contact me at "g.molek@att.net" if you'd like me to e-mail you the file (you'll need to add it to the archive yourself), or you can wait and re-download the patched archive. Maybe it's time for me to go to the "Old Modders Rest Home". Gordon
 9. Jeff, Yes indeed, I played in the "Dompaire" and the "Coldstream/Goodwood" rumbles and had a blast. So I thought I'd try to host a CMBO-based rumble (figuring it would be a lot easier on the GM). Everyone interested in the next rumble. I've completed the first draft of the AAR for this rumble (I hope to post it soon) and have started on the situation and map for the next. The 2nd rumble will be combined-arms and the situation will be in the Ardennes. Stay tuned to the message board for the announcement. Gordon
 10. Gentlemen, My apologies, but I let a bug slip into the batch files when I coded up the US camouflaged truck code. The result of the bug is the "file not found" errors. The effect is that if you try to change from the US camouflaged version to the Free French version the front and rear panels of the truck's load bed will remain camouflaged. I'm sending the corrected version of the batch file to Manx for incorporation into the mod. Anybody who'd like the new files without re-downloading the mod (nothing else has changed), please e-mail me at "g.molek@att.net" and I'll send them directly to you. Again, sorry for the confusion. Gordon
 11. mPisi, Well, maybe your crew is in line for some awards, but that first result was a shock. Gaffertape, I'd say that Badinfo had you dead to rights, right up to the moment that Crockett "blew him up real good." Gordon
 12. While working on the AAR, I realized that I had incorrectly attributed a kill to Chaffee that really should have belonged to Jarmo. Fortunately, it didn't change the standings, but in the interest of accuracy, here's the revised results. 13. Jarmo, I was going to cover that in the AAR. Unfortunately, so many Shermans blew up so spectacularly that the whole concept of an award for "best acting in a dramatic death scene" had to be scrapped. pcpilot, Keep an eye on the message board. There will be a call for players for the next rumble (sometime after I've written the AAR for this one and come up with a good scenario). Gordon

 15. Clubfoot, No offense taken. Like I said, it's an honor to be considered even close to Marco's league. Wolfe, I'm not sure my wrists can handle another hi-res mod, but we'll see how my wrists feel after a week or so. No promises though. Gordon
 16. Yes, I work my wrists to tendonitis/carpal tunnel syndrome and I still get no credit. This (along with all the other versions which will eventually be available on CMHQ) was in fact my first ever hi res mod. The readme details which parts I did borrow from other mods, which includes Mike's Allied field guns (for the howitzer barrel) and the suspension, 3-piece nose and various "kit" from Marco's mods. I am honored that it passes muster enough to be confused with a Marco mod, but I'm sure Marco is mortified. Gordon

[ 05-04-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]

I've sent off the non-camo version of my hi res M7 Priest to Madmatt for posting (along with the various winter flavors). 19.
quote:
Originally posted by M. Bates: Good work on the mods especially as they are my two favourite vehicles, but must there be markings? Markings don't usually look at that great (IMHO) and they add great complexity to installing the mod with some users.

I don't think you'll have to worry. As Old Dog stated, there will be a CM Mod Manager version of the mod that won't require playing around with batch files. Even if you don't use CM Mod Manager, you'll be able to just extract the BMPs and drop 'em in your BMP directory. Gordon
 20. Funny you should ask. We're just finishing up testing of the base Priest mod (with US, US Cavalry/Aerial recognition panels, US low-visibility markings and Free French options) and I hope to get it off to Madmatt for posting yet tonight. Don't hold your breath waiting for Madmatt to post it though, he's got quite a backlog of mods waiting. Next in the pipeline are the winter versions, the US camouflaged versions and the DFDR versions. Gordon [ 04-27-2001: Message edited by: Gordon ]
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by KwazyDog: Hiay Paladin, I think where you calculations are going wrong is that you are assuming that there is an 'inside' to the barrel istelf, but there is not. Dan

KwazyDog, Yeah, but it would be really nice if there was a single "inside" texture for all the barrels. It's a PITA when the barrel camouflage (like the British Firefly's used) shows up inside the barrel. Any chance all the models will feature unique left/right sides, or just a select few? Gordon (already brushing up on my Ostfront camouflage reading)
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Fuerte: This can't be true... Aren't all those mods in the public domain? You can do anything you like with them, collect them in cd and even sell them if you like. It's sad if you think this way. At least there should be a list of the best mods available. It would be a benefit for everyone.

Sorry, I'm coming into this late, but you'll find that if you read the documentation of many mods that you are expressly forbidden to charge for them. Gordon
 23. Yes, to answer your question, the 5 pointed star, either alone or within a solid or broken circle was considered an "allied" recognition marker, and not just an "American" mark. However, some nationalities took somewhat of a dim view of it. Some Canadian vehicles displayed a crooked or inverted star. Gordon btw, looks very good. Can't wait for it. 24. TwoSheds, Re: Problem 1: Yes, tricky, but not insurmountable. One possibility would be to have version information associated with the group's meta data and allow each mod to provide a versioned copy of the group's meta data (only the latest version "wins"). Re: Problem 2: Excellent idea. If it makes things easier, you might even consider having the user place all new mods into a "new" or "install" sub-folder so that each time CMMM starts up it can easily recognize that something's been added. Yes, I can read data models if you want to send me anything to look at. Please send it to "g.molek@att.net". Gordon
 25.
quote:
Originally posted by TwoSheds: Gordon, Great post, you've got my attention. Mod Manager was designed (it's Focus) on the Mod. It appears that Mod's are a lot more granular (detailed) than I thought they would be. I envisioned the likes of MDMP where it had about a dozen vehicles in it, but Mods these days focus around one tank with it's chrome (camo, emblems, etc). The batch files are needed to select the appropriate "chrome" as I saw it. I'm trying to figure this out and need some more detials: Why can't each of the Vehicle groups you described above be in it's own Mod with options and extras?

TwoSheds, Well they certainly could, and I'd think you'd want to preserve the flexibility to allow that within CMMM, but the biggest strength of the BFS is that you can click on one icon and swap all (or at least all the vehicles Marco's completed to date) from Polish to Canadian markings. Ultimately, that capability will expand to ALL the Canadian vehicles in the game. Since its unreasonable to expect everyone to re-download the "Canadian Armor" mod each time Marco adds another vehicle, the best way (I could think of) is to have the concept of groups of mods to allow this classification "after the fact". So, for instance, Marco's existing M4 Mega pack could be broken up into separate US and Free French packs that would be the founding members of the "Marco US Vehicles" and "Marco FF Vehicles" groups. The "optional" textures that Marco loves to provide fit nicely into the existing CMMM "Extras" category. Where it starts to get trickier is in how to handle things like the "Low Visibility" US textures, and the "Cavalry" US textures? Are they "Options" (in the CMMM) sense of the term within the M4 mod (within the "Marco US Vehicles" group), or are they each a separate "group" (e.g. "Marco US Cavalry Vehicles" and "Marco US Low Visibility Vehicles")? The first alternative would seem to make more sense (and save space), but unless an option could be applied across all the mods within a group, it is cumbersome to select. The second alternative requires more space (as the "Marco US Cavalry Vehicles" mod shares many BMPs with the "Marco US Vehicles" mod), but swapping them is easier. So maybe the answer (to implement alternative 1) would be to associate meta data with the mod group that would allow the same configuration to be applied to all mods within the group when the user decides to install the group. If that's all as clear as mud. Gordon [ 04-17-2001: Message edited by: Gordon ] [ 04-17-2001: Message edited by: Gordon ]
