"Doodle"? Man that's brilliant.

The trick to conserve mortar ammo is: to get a delay at the beginning of the turn, give the mortar a target with a "rotate" order away from it. The mortar will rotate away, then back and fire. You can fine tune this for the delay you want. As stated in the post above, to get a delay at the end of the turn give a paused movement order. This tends to be not as good as you then have to wait out the setup time when you've moved.

Against cherry picking like that you did very well. If you've got support weapons the trick with weak infantry is not to push them. Let them identify shooters and have the support kill them. Only advance into areas you think are clear. Keep them alive and let them shoot all their ammo.

I think in CMx2 there will be SOP's we can give units, so if a AC hits resistance you can give it a default behaviour. This will do all you've asked here i believe.

To clarify, does targetting behind the gun have more effect as the shrapnel isn't stopped by the gun shield?

Does targetting the area behind the gun have an effect? I always do, whether with DF HE, mortars etc just because it makes sense to do so. Has anyone ever actually tested this?

Always, always the setup. I've games waiting to be played where I've just looked at the map, shut the computer down and found something else to do. Like grouting.

Kingfish: kenfederof and my scores seem to be transposed on St Edouards. He got the 77, me the 23. Makes no different to the tourney AFAIKS but he won quite handsomely.

I have recieved a score of 77 for St Edouards Sanitorium after I got kicked all over by kenfedoroff - is this correct? AAR's will be a little late as I've not had a chance to fix my XP partition.
