I get SAD syndrome just looking at that map
Looking at the rain lashing down here in Limeyland, the above gave me a bloody good laugh.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Merry Christmas, or some such humbug.

An interesting piece. I like the story of how he used to invite himself into people's houses around Westminster, if he heard music being played. And rather than tell them to stop, he'd have a beer, and a sing song with them.
Of course, he was still a right-wing s***, who'd have had me strung up if out paths had crossed.

Roll on the New Year.

@PEB14 I don't mind being wrong. That's how we learn things. But, I can only go by what is on the page in front of me. It would be nice to give @Paper Tiger a definitive answer, although I think his reworking of the campaign will be great whether we are up against Stugs or Marders. Perhaps BFC could pay for us all to go on a Jolly Boy's outing to Koblenz. Spend our days in the Bundesarchiv, and our evenings in a pub, or two.

As long as they fall victim to our colonial cousins, I don't really mind the correct name of the unit they belonged to. But, thanks for the input guys.

Most of my OOB knowledge of this came from John Keegan's 'Six Armies in Normandy'
That is a really good book. Sadly, my copy fell victim to water damage at my old hovel some years past.

Avalon Hill's 'The Longest day?' That was an absolute MONSTER. It was really expensive.
Yes, it was a bit pricey. I payed for it entirely in £1 coins. much to the bemusement of the bloke on the counter in the Megastore on Oxford Street. Ah, we were all so much younger then, I had a massive crush on Liz Fraser from Cocteau Twins at the time.
Meanwhile this is the photo I mentioned above. ...

@Paper Tiger I've taken a break from hanging up my girlfriend's Xmas decorations, and dug out my old D-day Then and Now Vol. 2. There is indeed a picture of a knocked out Stug from 709 on page 398. Okeh, back to work.
-
You did indeed mention PS. I just hadn't realised it was that bad.

Panzerjager-Abteilung 709. The StuGs in the following mission, Licornets, came from the same formation.
Oh, yes. That would make sense. I'd forgotten about them. Blame a rotten cold. Were they included in AH's "The Longest Day" by any chance?
-
Which units would the Stugs have belonged to mate? I can't find any record of there being any on the Cotentin on D-day. Of course, we didn't have horseless fighting vehicles in my day. So what the hell do I know?
-
Sadly, having taken a more detailed look, these are really not my cup of tea. Although you have done a reasonable job with the maps. Basing them on PS really does expose what it for what it is; a childish shoot 'em up dressed up to look like WW2.
I'm not sure which was the biggest insult to my intelligence. The SS arriving on Utah Beach in tanks on D-day, or Best being dominated by a church on a rocky escarpment. Ho hum.
-
It will be quite a while before I can give these a whirl. But, they do look interesting. I still had enough hair to "Spike", the last time I went to Best.
-
Did someone mention Maxwell's House?

it's a shame that this mistake had consequences.
It is always good to see it when someone is prepared to admit to making a mistake. Even if it didn't effect my own enjoyment of the campaign. Well done PT.

Yeah, 2inch Mortar smoke is your friend.

More good news from the Tigerman. I think that splitting it into two separate campaigns is a great idea. I get my Limey arse kicked twice over.

Not yet but it's on the to-do list. The real hold-up is reworking the Le Ham mission which is a monster. It turns out that there were no AI plans for this mission and I have to remedy that.
Otherwise, most of the details are complete. I've learned how to use some of those special moves like Withdraw for example so I'd like to revisit most of the AI plans and see if they can be improved further but I'm not going to let it turn into another monster revision that will never get finished.
Oh, thank you so much for the reply. I shall certainly give it a whirl when it is finished.

I hadn't really thought about that. Thanks for today's lesson, appreciated. Got any more ?
Always glad to be of help. No CM lessons today. Just a piece of advice for life in general. "Never trust anyone called Charles Stewart."

@Brille is spot on. Al the time they've got their hands up, and no white flag appears, it means that they have mates lurking in the shadows.
-
Having been away for quite a while for health reasons, both my own and my PC's. Did this reworking ever get finished?

My apologies. It has been 45 years since I did "O"-level Geography. And I only got a "C".

The progress that you are making is really whetting my appetite. I'm really looking forward to sending those colonial ne'er do wells to their deaths.
