Battlefront Repository Posted June 3, 2011 Share Posted June 3, 2011 It is summer 1985 and you are to command Battlegroup Ivanov in their attempt to clear a valley at the border of the province Badakshan in Afghanistan and Tajikistan. A general has staged a coup in this province and is now preventing the Red Army acces into Afghanistan. The general has created an army which is called the Badakshan Defence Force (BDF). BDF-forces in the valley on the other side of the border are well entrenched and ready to defend their homeland. It is up to Battlegroup Ivanov to break through their lines and clear the valley of BDF units so the Red Army has acces to Afghanistan again.This is my first attempt on a large scale CMA mission. I'm not 100% sure if I understood the parameters concerning casualties, condition and ammo. So, it could be the outcome of the battle raises some questions. But I think you will have fun anyway. Hi Eddie, I suffered a major defeat as I was very cautious... the right flank hurt me bad. ( I was confused at first I believe I am by playing blue as soviets) I did have fun; I will try again. You obviously put a lot of effort into it--- a good job. I'd love to see your smaller mission as this mission is larger than I'm comfortable playing. I'm glad to read You had fun playing the mission and I can imagine why You prefer smaller missions to the larger ones. Your major defeat could be a result of the parameters I used in the mission, as I wrote I'm not 100% sure if I understood everything regarding those parameters. You may ofcourse change these parameters to Your needs. Anyway, the smaller mission I mentioned is done for the most part. I only need to create the right balance between forces, set the parameters and playtest it. Eddie Posted June 20, 2011 Share Posted June 20, 2011 Hi all, Apperently I made some mistake when I purchased forces for both sides and this has somehow turned things around. You must select the blue force to be able to play against the (red) computeropponent. I thought I mentioned this in the description of the mission. Schultz Posted June 20, 2011 Share Posted June 20, 2011 Hi Eddie, I do remember you mentioning to play as blue but I clicked on soviet flag anyway lol. I'd like to mention that when I set up a Tiny meeting engagement with 'Soviet as attacker' versus 'Afghan Army Defender' and then click 'soviet' flag I get the Afghan Army. So perhaps the issue is not your order of battle but a bug. If I reverse: attacker Afghan Army defender Soviet everything seems to work correctly. I don't know if this happens everytime. Eddie Posted June 21, 2011 Share Posted June 21, 2011 Hi Schultz, I had a similar experience as You describe when setting up engagements with the QBG. But I have no idea if this issue also happens when creating a scenario with the missiongenerator so I just made it my mistake. The smaller mission is almost done. During testing I got some new ideas which needed to be implemented and this took some time. Timing of the AI-plan and reinforcements still need to be finetuned and a briefing has to be created. I was just wondering how You ended the mission this time, that is if You gave it another try already. Next week my new mission wil be done and I will upload it.
