Huntarr
? on map mortars were not implemented I'll believe it when you post a pic
Sirocco
I assume your friend was referring to off map mortars, available as support weapons.
Mishga
I have paradox version and no on-map mortars here.
RommL
why were they envisaged?

thewood
I thought BFC said they put that picture up, but never truly implemented on map mortars.

RommL
why ? the other plays had mortars on map.
thewood
No time due to difficulty in implementing IIRC. So lets make sure I understand. You said you saw them in game on your friends system or just a picture of them.
Mishga
They were in, but were taken out. Notice the slight differences in the troops in that pic and what we are used to now.

JohnO
What is it that you do not understand. There Is No On Map Mortars!
JSB
Originally posted by RommL: I saw a floating icon of those. in the red camp. They are not mortars, but grenade-launchers. (in the WADI scenario)
Huntarr
What part of as of yet there are NO ON MAP MORTARS don't you get? That pic was a promotional image, not a release version of CMSF
birdstrike
Now, lets stay civilized here. I think there is a simple misunderstanding. RommL, you are most likely confusing the Syrian Grenade launchers and the US mortars. There are no US mortar units in the game, except as off-map artillery support. But there are Syrian grenade launchers as "real" units present in the game, as JSB already said.
GonzoAttacker
Too bad there is no motars on map. There are two great stories about them from Iraq...
RommL
i understand for syrien grenade launcher. but will have us mortars on map in the next modules ?
Elmar Bijlsma
Nobody knows, not even BFC I think. They weren't yanked because BFC are meanies but because they couldn't be made to function properly. If these issues are resolved I reckon the chance of mortars added to CMSF are high.

Zemke
Well see we have this new engine and it is really good, better than the CM1 engine........but....... Ok Cheap shot at BFC, (sorry) so what is the problem with on-board mortars, and a host of other small details that CM1 had that CMSF does not?

Sixxkiller
No they were yanked because they didnt work as intended. I cant remember them shooting off a round in the beta build they were in. Kind of silly to have them if they dont shoot. They may get in someday but thats up to Steve and Charles.
Dirtweasle
Just an aside, did they ever make into TOW either?
