manchildstein (ii)
hi, what types of scenarios are people thinking about for cmbb? i am looking forward to summer 1941 scenarios -mobile scenarios, with companies of pzIIIs (north?) or 38t-s (south front?) -recon... from what i understand no motorcycles but 6-wheeled armored cars and 37mm halftracks (we can hope) will be very cool. -ss regiment 'hitler's escort' ('liebstandarte adolph hitler'... 'las') at the gateway to the crimea... 37mm trucks... and the soft target bug fixed right?! -city fighting for riga.. a remake of the asl scenario with the t-34 turrets, stug 75s*, and the surrounded german platoon in the 'church' -or... the heavy regiment at the dnieper dam, south front, 1944: 2 battalions of elephants (ferdinands?) and a battalion of grizzly bears! -the romanians defending on the north wing outside of stalingrad will make for a high defensive challenge. what are your thoughts on what you might create in cmbb? Wild Bill Wilder
I think you'll be very pleased. Some of the best designers around are involved. I'm sure Rune will fill you in since he is in charge of scenario development. WB
Stoffel
I read good detailed reports of fighting in The Stalin line early july 41 near Opocha Lots of bunkers and entrenchments 8 miles deep!! Would make up a nice scenario with engineers and flamethrowers Are we going to have bunkers and other fortifications for the Russians too? If not it will be a serious shortcoming
rune
My hands are kinda tied by the NDA at this point, so I cannot say what you will see or who is doing it...but I will say I got to ask some impressive names to do scenarios for CMBB. I am fortunate to work with some extremely talented scenario designers, and scenario testers. I think you will like what you will get... Mr. Johnson--
I think we will see Bunkers for both combatants this time around, thank god. I got dibs on Prokhorovka. I plan on releasing the scenario to the public within a day after I get the game. Maybe I'll be able to use Operations for the battle this second time around. There are so many battles we can convert into CMBB scenarios its not funny.

russellmz
the user scenarios are gonna be fun too: captured t34s vs t34s with russian smg squads vs german squads with captured russian smgs for those who like their scenarios REALLY mirrored. sherman tanks vs t34s for the korean war buffs. Scott B
Originally posted by Mr. Johnson--: I got dibs on ProkhorovkaThat's sort of an amusing thought. Plenty of room for multiple Prokhorovka scenarios, one would think. We're not exactly talking about a small engagement over a short period of time... WWB
1) Prokhova is just the kind of swirling, fast moving tank battle that CM operations cannot handle. 2) Rune, what about spanish blue division scenarios? They were really cool. WWB
Mr. Johnson--
True, Prokhorovka does have plenty of room for multply scenarios. The inital attack by the SS Panzer corps clearing approaches to Prokhorovka. The recon in force against farms south of Prokhorovka. Soviet counter-attacks, big axis push into Soviet tankers getting ready for their big attack. More counter-attacks. And trying to have the Germans retreat under control. Yes CMBO operations might have problems with Prokhorvka, which is why I made 2 battles, covering diffrent days of the battle instead of trying to make it "feel right" in CMBO's operations. But CMBB's operations might be a whole diffrent ball game. But if you want to model all the troops, tanks and planes then yes your going to bog down the system, either with hardware limitations or the god like aspect of the simulation. On the other hand, maybe the extreme fog of war will make things confusing again.
RCHRD
I was thinking yesterday of a scenario on a large map with a German security force searching a large wooded area for a partisan band, circa 1943. Kind of a hide and seek. I wonder if that would be fun, or just drudgery.
Clubfoot
Massive early war village burning sprees several miles deep! WHEEEEEE And Skorzeny. Since the man with the plan was in the east for a while, I'll have to be revisiting him.
benpark
I am working on a series of linked Kustrin to Seelow battles. I am also very interested in the battle of Staraya Russa in '41 during Typhoon. The town changed hands around 5 or 6 times in the space of a few days. Anyone having any info on it, please send along a link. I remember reading those Trevor Ropper WW2 magazines as akid and finding just a few sentances about it. That would be a good op, and a good chance to see how the new building damage model works. I've held back quite a few scenarios waiting for CMBB, as that is where my greatest interest lies. Soon, soon...
