Bridges in CMBB..one minor improvement

Gentlemen,

while working on my new winter mod , I came across one minor thing , that I would love to see changed in CMBB: the top of bridges is always linked to bmp.613 , a bmp for the straight paved road. Maybe it´s possible without too much coding ( I am not familar with this things ) to give tops of bridges their own bmp´s ? ( Maybe we´ll see different road- AND RAILWAY bridges in CMBB ?? ). With this option , we´ll could add much more eye-candy to the graphics ( look at the bridge below and it´s " fake ceilling " - done with a bevel filter. Things like that are not possible with the current CMBO settings.

Or look at Mike Duplessis great Pioneer Bridge... a new wooden top adds so much to the visual impression.

Cheers

Tom

You shouldn't have time to foundle with bridges!

Go back to work!

And you said you were off for your wife and daughter...

Shame on you to blame your family to MOD one BMP.

:D

Nice work Tom.

There are INDEED many things that BTS could change to help us MODers.

Lower hull of a AFV stretched as the lower turret.

Side of a TD stretched inside the cuppola.

Doesn't help much that...

Personally, I'd like to see multiple lanes, parapits, humped-backed bridges and arched steel suspension bridges. There are more types of bridges in the world, I believe Horatio, than BTS has thus far imagined for us... smile.gif

There are even Bailey Bridges, that engineering marvel and envy of the civilized world!!!

Perhpas bridges could also be more robust. The current bridges can be destroyed with fairly light arty strikes when I am lead to beleive that most civilian bridges require a huge amount of arty t bring them down. So beyond the appearance of the actual bridge perhaps have stronger beidges that cannot be easily knocked out.

Of course I've neveer even seen a 40's european or any russian bridge let alone studied engineering... Were stone civilian bridges suspetable to knock out by medium artillery?

SdKfz7 Half-track. Generally used as a gun tracter but it also showed up in other specialised role where its ability to carry a relatively large number of people over rough terrain was utilised (Artillery Survey parties spring to mind).

Once hit, its relatively easy to damage a bridge beyond usefulness. The problem is hitting them. They were notoriously difficult targets to hit with artillery, according to most accounts. Stone bridges, of course should be much harder to demolish than wooden ones.

An excellent point and one I think which should be worth considering. Bridge capacity is one of the determinants of a route taken in an advance.

railroad bridges are a must, as well as various types BTS just give more than one skin possible, with all the excellent modders around i dont think you have to worry. Also railroad cars would be very nice they could be the equivalent of small houses with different skins or somethign close, it would make for intersting rail yard shootouts. Just my two cents (sorry folks not in the US I dont have the exchange rates for 2 cents)
