Nolloff
Question: Weren´t ATR rifles also found to be useful in city or house-to-house combat and not just exclusively vs. armor or vehicles? I seem to remember having read something about it but maybe I´m just getting old. Nolloff
James Crowley
Just a little addendum to my previous post. Tanks, with only AP shot remaining, will tend to target infantry and soft vehicles with its machine guns. But it can be manually ordered to use it's main gun, which it will do in both cases. Can't really see why that should be any different with AT rifles
PeterX
James Crowley posted: AT rifles were obviously designed to fire at tanks but why wouldn't they target almost anything else if there are no tanks around. I can verify they shoot at infantry with something, presumably their sidearms. Several AT teams showed infantry kills in one computer generated QB I played. Still, they should use their rifles on infantry if no armor threats present themselves. At least that seems logical. They carry 50-75 shells, for G*d's sake. OTOH, with a blast value of '1' one wonders how decisive their value would be in a city fight. CMBB doesn't model mouseholing. TSword
I'm testing an operation of mine right now with EFOW on. All my HT losses were due to ATR fire which couldn't be tracked for 2 rounds. I fear ATRs, they are like the plague and very difficult to spot... Greets Daniel

Ex Bellator
*picks himself off floor* Aaaaah, I see my cunningly feigned apoplectic seizure has frightened all the ATR'ers out of here at last. C'mon BFC - please say you've noted this so we can let it sink down the list....

demoss
Several AT teams showed infantry kills in one computer generated QB I played. That doesn't mean much by itself. AFV crew killed are counted as "infantry."

Ex Bellator
Aaaaw c'mon. Just a little word please BFC. This one is a major problem. Plus, it's getting lonely in here without the ATR guys.
Holien
Rex on other threads it has been mentioned that they are on a well deserved holiday and this would seem somewhat essential if I have a modicum of insight into the hours they have been pulling. Ex Bellator
Sure, but Matt is around at the moment, just hoping he'll pick this one up as well as the others. Heck, I even put BUG in the title and in capital letters!
Holien
Yeah, but you know what happens when the boss is away. He will have his feet up with some girls in the office and be smoking cigars watching videos... H P.s. I am sure this will get noticed as it does sound a bit of a bug. Good Gawd what were those beat testers doing!!!!
Ex Bellator
Bah! Matt danced around this thread yesterday agreeing to investigate sundry other bugs on higher and lower threads, but studiously avoiding this one. Also no response to my email. I give up, so looks like you have soft target halftracks as a permenant fixture. Don't say I didn't try.
futureman
well I can confirm for a fact that the ATR have other small arms - I just witnessed a ATR crew firing small arms (sounds like pistols) at a PZIV @very close range, and it wasnt the usual 'thud' of the AT rifle - it was definitely another weapon. Battlefront.com
Yup, Charles and I were both away. Yup, we will look into it. Yup, we can let this thread die a natural death now Steve
Yggdrasill
This is an interesting bug. As the Soviets (always on EFOW) I have yet to misidentify a halftrack for a gun tractor. Is this bug simply random or does it occur only in conjunction with other parameters (weather, year, troop experience, etc.)? And to throw in my 2 cents on ATRs, I have yet to find them ineffective. I do have a question though. Will they fire AP rounds or HE (assuming they have them) at soft targets?

Ex Bellator
Yeah - it's very much appreciated BFC. Can we let this thread die now please guys. It will be fixed soon
Madmatt
Charles has said that ATR's will now engage soft vehicles in v1.01 so this issue now looks to finally be put to rest. Thanks for all the input guys! Madmatt
Ex Bellator
ROTFLMAO looks like this did turn into an ATR thread after all. Well done ATR boys. Here's hope'in that the Halftrack jobby is fixed as well
Ex Bellator
Erm, actually, serious thought after the good laugh... Please don't think that allowing ATR's to engage soft targets fixes this clanger. If German Halftracks still get a Gun Tractor marker when partially identified then the Tac-AI will continue to assume that they are soft tagets. So you will still see every un-hidden unit empty it's small arms magazines into them for no effect at all. Plus guns and tanks won't fire AP at them. Just trying to make sure it's fixed
