MikeyD
I've assaulted 'em, I've hid behind 'em, I've placed 'em on my maps. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how much protection they offer! Apparently not much if you place a pillbox in the center of a sandbag emplacement. I did a test and my pillbox got knocked out just as fast - if not faster - than if i had placed the pillbox in th open. I want to say it offers about as much protection as a heavy building for troops, but that's just a wild guess. Any grogs got a handle on this brand-new terrain feature yet?
Elmar Bijlsma
Haven't messed around with them much but the impression I've gotten is that the primary protection you enjoy from sandbags is that you drop out of LOS if you hide/cower inside it. I would like to know how much use others get out of sandbags.
Agua
JasonC has probably already got this figured out.
Runyan99
I am guessing that sandbags are equivalent to stone walls.
flamingknives
They are the same as stone walls - for a unit inside they provide about 30% exposure. As long as the unit is inside, it is always close enough to a wall from some direction to count the cover.
Blah Blah Blah
Speaking of stone walls and other terrain/man made items, where can I find how much protection each offers, and how to use that protection. That is, a wall, do I put my men in the open behind it, ot 'in' (not on?) it as it appears to be from my understanding. Thanks
Bonxa
Do not place your men on or in the wall. They will be very exposed. You should place them just behind the wall in the open terrain. Check what the cursor says about the terrain when you plot the move up to the wall. It should say open, not wall.
Pvt. Ryan
In one scenario I made I had an 88mm dug in inside a sandbag position. One one turn a Stuka dropped a bomb right next to the position and it had absolutely no effect on the crew - not even Alerted. A few turns later a tank off in the distance sprayed the gun with one burst of MG fire and the crew abandoned the gun.
Denwad
Hehe. Playing the tutorial I've noticed that my WSC couldn't get at one of the Breda MMGs because they had ZERO exposure! They finally surrendered after I dropped a mortar round right into their foxhole.
