The Commissar
Not sure what you're asking, but if it's what music to play while playing CM, i can certaintly contribute! Sometimes, I like to put on some soft classical music while in the midst of an especially brutal movie turn. It kind of gives that effect certain movies capture where a gentle toon plays in the background to all-out slaughter. Some favorites: Mozart's "Greensleaves", theme from "Last of the Mohicans", and Patchbelle's "Cannon in D minor". Some times I like a bit of fun in my playing, in which case I turn up some Rock or several folk songs. One in particular I'd reccomend would be "Traditional Irish drinking song" by Dennis Leary. When CM2 comes around, I'll be listening to tracks like Red Army Choir's "Hunt for Red October" and "Polyushko Polyo". Ok, I probobly missed the entire point of this post, but hell, I had fun sharing Sometimes ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"

The Commissar
Alright. Now Im totally confused... I didnt like Kalinka much myself. There's lots of great Russian music and war-related tracks about Napster. Here's a few more suggestions: From the movie Patton, "The German Advance", the main theme, and "The Battle Ground" are all good ones.

Clubfoot
Is the question then "What music brought on a change in your very concept of how music can affect you the way CM changed our outlook on what makes a damned fine strategy/tactical game?" ? If so, my response would have to be: Pink Floyd - Animals. Slayer - South of Heaven. Anything pre-90's from Corrosion of Conformity and Pantera. Clubfoot.
