  1. Actually, I've had a wierd thing happen with a truck crew. The truck he was driving, and the flamethrower passenger, exploded catastrophically. There were 2 dead bodies, one for the crew, and one for the flamethrower. However, there was a fully intact crew, alive and well, running for cover from the explosion. There was no one else near that area, and I am 100% sure that they came from the truck. Didn't look at the face or count legs, however.
  2. LOL This is a fun post! What's your answer Comissar? We want to know!
  3. My only thought is, would it be possible to have unit bases blink when the enemy is firing but nowhere to be found, rather than have bases blink whenever they are fired on. I can just picture a full on firefight with all units (friend and foe) in view, with everyone's bases blinking away madly. Could be potentially distracting (short of turning off bases for playback). 4. Yeah guys, quit being so silly. (er, actually, i play with bases on). I actually kind of like the idea, but I wonder how it would work exactly. Does that mean everyone's bases would blink whenever they were fired at? Or would bases only blink for units that have no idea where the fire is coming from, and how easy would that be to work(code) into a game? 5. Hehe. The most beautiful aspect of this game in those situations is that the Esc key minimizes the game so quickly. Just keep a spreadsheet or database window open underneath it
  6. No thanks GB, I'm perfectly happy the way it is.
  7. Kubelwagon came in first with 2 jeeps behind. A couple of others might have finished, but the allies surrendered (I think it was the plane strafing the 50 cals that did it)
  8. Filled to the rim with bmp's. The sides of my case are bulging, and occasionally a few fall out onto the floor (thru the vent), so I keep a little broom handy. Fairly new computer, so no prob with slowdown. However my last computer was a PII 300 with a Voodoo 2 card. Smoke bug looked awful, and mods slowed it down quite a bit. Still looked good, and now looks mahvelous.
  9. It's late and my brain hurts from thinking about it. But basically, that's how it already works. You can't ever move and then see the movie. Sometimes you'll only get to plot, sometimes only see the movie (as you already know). The way it's currently setup is, I believe, the best and only way to deter cheating. This is an old, old topic, you might want to try a search and you'll get bundles of explanations about it.
  10. Well, don't believe everything you hear, but I hope this quote from the message board at www.cinemenium.com/pearlharbor contains some truth. I believe he (Nick) is the moderator for the forum there. "Hey everyone, I've read email after email from people who are concerned with the way the ships have appeared in the trailer. IT is my duty to report that I just spoke to someone from inside _____ that the ships WILL be fixed and authentically reproduced for the film. SO, lets not all worry! Accuracy is still the winner!" Anyway, I'm sure many of you will scoff, and even if the message is true that you'll find all kinds of faults anyway(hey, it's Hollywood). But, for what it's worth, there it is. 11. Sigh...son, have a seat. I think it's time we had a little talk. Uh, well, how do I begin? Um...there's a stork, see...
  12. I had a Hellcat (regular status) travelling as fast as it could over rough terrain. It caught sight of a Panther G over 500 meters away. Within 3 seconds, and without stopping, it had swiveled its turret and fired an AP round, hitting a weak spot. My opponent was none too happy about that. 13. I 2nd the "Shift-V" command. Vehicles disappear and passengers become oh so clickable. I wouldn't use anything else
  14. Been playing like mad. No complaints here
  15. LOL. I know this thread is going to get locked, but damn its funny!
  16. Yeah, they're there quite a bit. Especially if you set the camera view up above the action a bit.
  17. Hi Legend, You might want to edit your message, as the link is not working. The name of the link has two w's (wwii), but you'll want to delete one in the url you have typed in as it contains three.
  18. I assume it has something to do with total points. If you have taken casualties, than you've lost points that can't be regained. I could be wrong, however.
  19. The Withdraw command has saved my butt on numerous occasions. I don't mind a small morale penalty so long as my men can continue to fight.
  20. This is not a complaint My truck, containing 1 flamethrower team and 1 bazooka team were enroute to a little hotspot on the battlefield. My opponent took aim with two german rifle squads from about 150 meters. As soon as they opened up the truck exploded (catastrophically), killing everybody aboard. No 'fausts were used. First I thought maybe they hit the flamethrower, but after doing a search I read that flamethrower explosions are not modeled in the game. Must have been one lucky shot to the trucks fuel tank or something. Tracer round ignites fuel? Any thoughts? Has this happened to anyone else? Whatever it was, after 4 months of playing this game nonstop (ok, I sleep occasionally), I love the fact that little surprises like this just keep popping up. While others come and go, I believe this game will permanently reside on my hard drive. Have fun! [This message has been edited by Richlop (edited 10-12-2000).]
  21. What about getting the latest purchaser of CM to tell us what his/her invoice number is? Of course, that would be assuming it started at 1 and is working its way up. Several months ago I purchased a copy for a friend, Number 18,000 and something. Will that work?
  22. What's to stop anyone from doing a play by mail hotseat game? If you completely trust the person you're playing with, can't you start a hotseat game and save it at your opponents password screen? (actually, no one needs to answer this question, as i have already done it) Saves a little bit of time, but I only do it with a close friend of mine, given the ease with which someone could cheat.
  23. Would you be refering to MadMatt's Mod Guide? If so, here it is: http://combathq.thegamers.net/mods/MMG.asp
