Seraph
First let me say that I absolutely adore the CM Demo, and will be snapping up a full copy of this game as soon as it comes out. Having said that... How are the chances that we might see a game based on the same engine on the Eastern Front? I've just finished reading a book on the battle of Stalingrad, and I would KILL to have some campaigns set there... IMHO, it's by far the most interesting battlefield of WWII, and one of the most interesting of the 20th century. Just a thought... maybe this has been covered before, sorry if I'm just dragging out old topics =/.
Guest KwazyDog
Hehehe, Ill rescue you here Seraph Youll find a heap more info if you do a search on the forum but the simple answer is yup, CM2 which is already planned is on the eastern front. Im looking forward to it myself very much! So some searching for CM2 or eastern front and youll probably find some words from Steve or Charles about it

Boris Balaban
Seraph this may help: Big Time Software Moderator posted 03-25-2000 02:22 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For CM2 there will be Finns and other Axis allies. Taking on the Eastern Front is going to be a huge task CM3 will be the entire Mediterranean theater. This will include North Africa, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece, etc. CM4 will be early war battles in Poland, France, the Low Countries, and Norway. Jeff
And CM5 about the Pacific ? I'm just asking as I think with this engine it could be a lot fun. Not so many tanks but it's a fun theater to play. We could play some island invasion (Tarawa for instance). It would be quite different from what we usually play. Can't wait to play CM1 though. ------------------ Veni, vidi, vici Julius Caesar
gaffertape
JEFF Search for 'Pacific'. Its been covered, and BTS provides many reasons why CM is not going to cover that theatre in the foreseeable future. It would be neat though, wouldn't it? guachi
Jeepers, Simon! Even a Searchonaut needs a little sleep now and then. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/001003.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/001837.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/003171.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/003039.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/002717.html This is probably THE most asked question on the board. After when is the game coming out, of course. Jason - and the Searchonauts were all snug in their beds with visions of Search functions dancing in their heads... Lee
If anything, CM5 would more likely cover Korea. And don't forget that Steve and Charles plan on incorporating the improvements/new features of future CM's into the previous ones. I would gladly pay for a monster patch on a CD to do just that. This way all CM's will be up to the latest standard of the new version. Thus eliminating the need to wait 5 years for CM1 to be brought up to CM4 standards (wouldn't that be a hideous wait?!). I think it's a great idea.
Major Tom
Just think about it, when the next version of CM comes out, you actually get 2 NEW GAMES!! CM2, and CM1v2. Then, when CM3 comes out, you get CM3, CM2v2 and CM1v3! And so on!!! By CM4, I would hope that the average computer processing power will enable a 3D Lifelike CM version game to be practical. Each individual of each squad looking and behaving like an actual person. Of course, this will be out sometime in 2010

Schrullenhaft
I hate to be the one to rain on everyone's parade , but I recall BTS saying that they would "TRY" to update the previous games to the newer engines, but it WASN'T guaranteed to happen due to the complexity of the possible changes, etc. I'm sure Charles & Steve will try their best to bring the previous games up-to-date, but we can't hold them to it as if they promised us this would happen. Guest gyrene251
Sorry to see the Pacific sucking behind all other fronts...I'd love to see a future CM on this subject. I understand the reasons BTS has given, I don't like it, but I understand them.
Lee
I realize they can't guarantee retrofitting will work with all future CM's, but if there is any way to do it they'll figure it out.
