Eric Alkema
I was digging through some old games, came across Flight Commander 2, decided that it would be fun to play again, looked for a BTS web site in search of patches/updates etc., and discovered the holy grail in the form of the Beta Demo. I paid my money shortly after that.

Slapdragon
Two of my students unplugged my nose plug and placed the box on my chest and told me - "you like this game" then told me I had given them A's on the midterm.

Herr Oberst
Use to play all the Atomic games, from way back. Finally someone had taken the Avalon Hill board games and put them on the computer. But I always wanted Squad Leader on the PC. The right scale for my tastes, but a pain in the a$$ to play. Then came Close Combat, and spent many hours with CC1, 2, 3, and the CC Mods forum looking at data, etc. Atomic lost me when they turned a deaf ear to their buyers. Someone on a CC Mod forum mentioned CM. I came. I saw. I was conquered. Poof, no more CC. Haven't touched a CC CD since the CM demo came out (well, only once to install it on someone else's computer). Don't get to play as much as I'd like, but when I do, it's CM. ------------------ To the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee... Rossdaddy
I read the review in PC Gamer mag, went to the BTS website, downloaded the demo, and ordered the full version the next day. Needless to say, I was blown away by PC Gamer's high rating (a rariety) and the excellent demo...
DD_Rob
I learned about CM through some pictures that were posted to the CC3 Gamestats forum back in February 1999. Hooked ever since. Rob W

Daveman
Heard about it in another forum, then ordered after reading the CGW review. ------------------ “Thus, the M4A3E8(76)W designation meant a tank with an official Mortality of 4 minutes, Actually 3 minutes, cost Extra, and had a 76% chance of going WHOOSH." - Bullethead
Andy_R
Heard about it from a friend. He had invited my family over for dinner, had the demo on his PC, needless to say I wasn't much for conversation that evening, played it 3 times. It was on my "Gotta Have" list that night.
