  1. Good question. I have the same problem.
  2. That makes sense if it is kinetic energy that puts a man down. It didn't put down the guy in the body armor. If the idea is to put as big a hole in the target as possible, the overpenetrating shot made as deep a hole as possible. I guess whether or not that makes up for having a slightly smaller cross section depends on how far the .45 penetrates.
  3. I just achieved five (count 'em five, in rapid succession) penetrations on a KV something with the above mentioned weapon. I feel your pain. Of course the panzer crew doesn't, they blew up.
  4. Yea, it seems like it would be hard to swoop down on anyone at about 20 mph.
  5. I would think that the attacker would need to have some way of knowing that he had the element of surprise, like being told so in the briefing. Otherwise, the only way to find out would be to dash straight at the defenses. If you don't blow up, they were surprised. I don't see any non-cesspool players attempting that tactic without any prior knowledge.
  6. I wonder if one could make do with making some of the guns reinforcements. I have zero experience making scenarios and I am at work, so I can't try it and see what happens.
  7. What sort of maneuver did you have in mind? The only options I saw were Advance in the open from the (I think it was) west. Advance in the open from the (I think it was) north. | | spoiler | | | | There are a few terrain features but they are not less than 600m from the guns, and with only three tanks with small HE loads, it seems like nibbling at what few guns you can spot from range, is likely to only net you a few guns. Am I wrong, or is there some other move you can pull with your rather pokey armor.
  8. On the other hand, I can take longer than that just to review the previous turn.
  9. To be more precise, the troops won't jump on a moving vehicle. You can order them to embark on a vehicle that is moving but they will stay put until the vehicle stops, they will then move toward it. If you are really in a hurry and you are embarking on tanks, if you time it right you can use Shoot and Scoot. Place the shoot point near the troops and the scoot point where you want to deliver them and order the troops to embark. If they move fast enough, your troops will mount up during the "Shoot" pause.
  10. GillFish, I think you have the right idea. For me playing CM takes a while. Unless you do nothing other than eat, sleep and play CM, never going back is going to slow down the learning process. If you never encounter the same situation twice in a month, it is hard to learn from that experience. The key is to understand why attempt number one failed and number two was better. I also take back the occasional disastrous move. I am trying to learn how to win, not spend a bunch of time minimizing a catastrophe. Especially if the real life solution would be to break off the attack / run away. I guess some folks are just better at this stuff than we are.
  11. I like it better, but I respect my elders (mostly). It isn't so special that it is worth torturing anyone. Sergei, on the other hand, is another story. That was uncalled for. Is there some way that it could be arranged for him to be beaten about the head and shoulders?
  12. Ignore the pleas of the near-blind who can't be bothered to get glasses. More text on the screen is a good thing.
  13. It wouldn't surprise me to see trained troops forget their training the first few times they were shot at, shelled and had the guy next to them die suddenly.
