  1. Thanks! I've been following that thread, but it's mostly about "floating point integers" (what ever they are) and people telling BTS how to technically design this patch. I'm simply interested in a possible time-frame of completion. [This message has been edited by Rossdaddy (edited 11-17-2000).]
  2. I'm absolutely loathe to bother you with this, but I'm very anxious for the patch... I've been checking BTS downloads 3 times a day, mumbling about it in meetings, hell...even my fiancee is aware of this patch, and she thinks computer games are toys! (Re-education begins three weeks from this Saturday.) Just give me a calendar date to cling to! (Lie if you want.) Cheers, Jim ------------------ When angry, count four; when very angry, swear. --Pudd'nhead Wilson
  3. BTS: Thanks for the polite responses in this thread. I wonder how many different ways you could say, "We are fixing it and don't actually need any technical help." (Some folks take a bit longer to get the message, I guess.) BTW, I'm really looking forward to this patch and am sure it will work great when you're done. -Jim ------------------ When angry, count four; when very angry, swear. --Pudd'nhead Wilson
  4. I bought CM because of an excellent review I read in PCGamer months ago. They were falling all over themselves about how great it is. (And I think it is, too.) ------------------ When angry, count four; when very angry, swear. --Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar
  5. As the game manual suggests, trust your common sense. (I do not mean this in a flippant way.) I ask myself, "In real life, what would I do with my men in this situation?" (This assumes I know what my units' strengths and weaknesses are, but this you can learn from the manual and by viewing the details on a unit.) Again, I don't mean this in a sarcastic way, but I think this aspect of the game shows how superior it is. ------------------ When angry, count four; when very angry, swear. --Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar [This message has been edited by Rossdaddy (edited 11-02-2000).] [This message has been edited by Rossdaddy (edited 11-02-2000).] [This message has been edited by Rossdaddy (edited 11-02-2000).]
  6. Just curious: Does anyone ever play a "probe" battle with PBEM? By the way, do you find this kind of battle fun? (I've never played a "probe" engagement. Instead, I tend to choose meeting engagement.) I apologize in advance if this is a lamer question. -Jim
  7. I love this game, but I'm itchin' for the patch. Any ideas when it will be ready? Thanks
  8. I read the review in PC Gamer mag, went to the BTS website, downloaded the demo, and ordered the full version the next day. Needless to say, I was blown away by PC Gamer's high rating (a rariety) and the excellent demo...
  9. If this cheat still exists, I hope they fix it, but it - would - give me an easy way to explain why my PBEM wins are so infrequent. Another option would be for me to just come to terms with the fact that I'm not very good at this game... Also, I doubt the people at BTS would make a product this good and still leave a bunch of holes for cheaters to hack. Any talk of cheating creates a negative environment and can ruin all the fun. (Remember Diablo on-line?) Well, that's my two cents (discount rate). -Jim
  10. Just an idea to avoid sending a personal check or money order (and you don't have a credit card): I've heard there are some sites on the 'net that allow you to pay them in cash and they give you some kind of "cyber-dollars" that act like a credit card for on-line purchases. (Sorry about the vague info...) -Jim
  11. I can't see why having PBEM opponents overseas would be negate TCP/IP. I have played other Internet games with "international" folks with no connection or speed problems. (I have a 28.8 Internet connection, at best.) I'm not trying to be argumentative, but you might want to give the TCP/IP patch the benefit of the doubt. The CM developers have done a great job so far, and I doubt the patch will be sub-standard.
  12. I think what we should have done was have him surrender. (I don't know why I didn't think of that.)
  13. Actually, this only copies the screen information to the clipboard. You have to then paste it into a graphics program like ThumbsPlus or Paint. (I assume from your message that you are not running CM on a Mac.) Hope this helps, Jim
  14. Thanks for your help. I've downloaded Snagit and will give it a try. By the way, I've been unable to run CM in a window (using ALT + Enter). Is there another way to do this? Does CM only require full-screen? Again, thanks. -Jim
  15. Thanks for the help, I'll keep them in C&C in the future.
