Probus
I had a recent game of FB in which an abandoned Panther was destroyed by a US backpack flamethrower. I think it was upstairs (the Flamethrower, not the Panther). Is that still a rarity or is it easier in the 4.0 Engine? Do the hatches all being open make any difference? I'm just curious. Erwin
Flamers can kill everything IIRC. The challenge is keeping em alive long enuff to get close enuff.
Dynaman216
I did a test once, long ago - maybe when FTs first arrived in the game, and had an FT team fire at a tank for a long time and it never did any damage. So if it is possible at all now that is a difference.
MikeyD
Hmmm... an interesting topic. Real world tanks like Churchill, Cromwell, PzIV and M4A1 Sherman don't have exposed grates on the engine deck, specifically to ward off flammables. I don't know if anyone's tested a variety of tank types to see if one is more vulnerable than the next. I have seen tanks immediately destroyed by the bigger flamethrowers like Wasp.
Probus
If the tank I was firing at was abandoned with open hatches, is CM smart enough to know that so a flamethrower would be more effective against it @MikeyD?
chuckdyke
We neither model white phosphor and high explosives vs armor.
user1000
Don't forget fumes and leaking fuel systems ww2 tanks had that problem
user1000
... and after it was it and being abandoned maybe already one of those happened if it wasn't leaking already. No tank crew is going to stick around a tank with leaking fumes or fuel.
