Col Deadmarsh
I'm looking for info about Canadian cruiser tanks regarding gun size, armor defense, etc. What German tanks would be able to withstand a shot from their main gun? P.S. - While we're on the topic, is there a site which lists the gun and armor data for all the AFVs in this game?
JonS
You mean ... the Sherman? It should be moderately easy to find that info.
user1000
I think he is talking about the crusader tank
Warts 'n' all
The Canadians did build a cruiser tank called the Ram. It was based on the US M3 chassis, but the body and turret was their own design, mainly because they didn't want to use a sponson mounted gun. The Mk1 had a 2-pounder gun, and the later Mk 2 carried a 6-pounder. It was soon replaced by the Sherman and was only used for training tank crews. Also, some Rams were converted to APCs, flamethrower tanks etc
John Kettler
Speaking of cruiser tanks, the Cromwell was a cruiser tank and the successor to the Crusader family. As you can see, there were some design candidates which didn't make the cut! Meanwhile, here's the crash course on what Canada built and operated in the way of AFVs during WW II. No caption. Sgt.Squarehead
I'm guessing Warts 'n' all is on the mark, the Canadian RAM Cruiser Tank: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram_tank http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/canada/Ram_Cruiser_Tank.php http://www.mapleleafup.net/vehicles/cac/ram.html
gnarly
Sounds like the Canadian 'Ram' was similar-ish to the Australian 'Sentinel' Cruiser tank, which also never saw action, and only a few were built: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinel_tank
Col Deadmarsh
So the ones in the game are basically Canada's version of the Sherman tank? I've seen versions with both 75mm and 76mm guns.
Warts 'n' all
Yes, that's right. The British also used the term "Cruiser Tank" for the Sherman, rather than the US "Medium Tank". Edited June 23, 2017 by Warts 'n' all
