John Kettler
I have an image which may well forever alter your view of subways. Also made me hungry! This was on Tumblr from a site called behindthegrooves. Video information linked to YT. Incredible if you like iconic singers! Unfortunately ordinary folks now have the choice of being bankrupted by US medicine, or not getting sufficient timely tests for things like cancer and/or waiting too long for treatment in the NHS. Have been with my dying father and elderly mother in NHS hospitals where I witnessed the misery of non-emergency care... non-emergency patients brought in by ambulance and waiting on beds and stretchers in corridors etc. (Note that emergency NHS care seems mostly pretty good.) But, if I did not have great US insurance I'd head to Europe (probably France which is supposed to currently have the best medicine in the world) to get free EU treatment rather than be bankrupted in the US.
John Kettler
Today's shocking offering really isn't shocking if you approach it with a clean mind. Didn't realize I'd get the second image with the first, but that's how it panned out. If you're stiull rattled, please look lower left of the first image and read the container label, which is admittedly faint. John Kettler
Not news, but would sure make it if observed! Should we request this capability from BFC. After all, things are pretty bleak on the horse and motorcycle fronts. Regards, John Kettler
John Kettler
Herewith some actual news and extremely bizarre at that. Would you believe the recent 7.9 off Alaska has triggered early spawning of a super rare desert fish in the California/Nevada Death Valley National Park?! https://www.fastcompany.com/40523707/earthquake-in-alaska-desert-pupfish-death-valley There's also this. All sorts of strange things happen in the wild, but this is one for the books. Has vid!https://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2018/01/30/Buffalo-herd-rescues-baby-elephant-from-attacking-lions/4451517329733/ Regards, John Kettler Edited January 30, 2018 by John Kettler
Wicky
'Emotional support peacock' barred from United Airlines plane A female traveller was recently banned from taking a large "emotional-support peacock" on board a United Airlines flight, it has emerged. She had offered to buy the bird its own plane ticket, according to travel blog Live and Let Fly. Nonetheless the airline refused to let the bird board at Newark airport in New Jersey, saying it did not meet guidelines due to its weight and size. United says this was explained to the traveller before she arrived at Newark. Pictures of the striking bird and its owner emerged via The Jet Set, a travel-based talk show. The images show the animal perched on an airport baggage trolley, as fellow passengers gaze at it in shock. The peacock is reportedly called Dexter, a rescue pet of Brooklyn-based artist Ventiko who documents the animal's life on social media. Airlines have allowed some passengers with emotional or psychiatric problems to take therapy animals with them on board. But the number of emotional support animals has been rising in recent years, sparking suggestions that people are abusing the system. In 2014, a woman was escorted off a US Airways flight when her pig, named Hobie, defecated and squealed before the plane took off. Had it made it onto the plane, the peacock would have joined a flock of jet-set birds. Traveller Jodie Smalley, from Seattle, made headlines after taking her turkey on a pre-Christmas flight home in 2015. Cynics were surprised to hear that the bird made the return trip back in one piece - and wearing a special bird nappy. A year ago, a photo of 80 birds of prey was captured on board an airliner in the Middle East, promptly going viral online. The falcons were being flown from an unknown destination to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, for what was believed to be a hunting trip.

General Jack Ripper
Wait, did I show this one already? Edited January 31, 2018 by SLIM
John Kettler
Regarding Wicky's contribution, the wag in me feels it a must to point out we now have photographic and multiple eyewitness proof of the existence of ESP! SLIM. Don't know how you came across the Magog video, but it's beyond even Monty Python, I believe. Either parts of the audio are muddy, I'm having some audio processing issues today or both, making for some difficulties in understanding him in places. Even so, that video was a trip, and full marks to its creator for one heck of a set, acting and wardrobe. The slide-in signs and PC "spankings" added to his confoundment and our merriment. Did Gog clear this for release? Regards, John Kettler

John Kettler
What with all the high drama lately, I figure we could all stand to relax some. Found this great visual set over on FB while trying to find someone to proof and edit my Spec Ops book. Michael Emrys
Oh man, that last one made me dizzy! I have to wonder what peculiar compulsions lead people to create things like this, but I am grateful for their sufferings. Michael
John Kettler
Michael Emrys, That one's tough on me, too, the others much less so. That said, I love watching them and hugely appreciate the ingenuity. Now I want someone to build real devices that do all this cool stuff. What a great sight they would be at a science museum or as science fair projects that went viral. Depending on the tolerances selected, some of the devices would need precision speed controlled motors, clever escapements, magnetic repulsors and more. In a word, serious mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering. Were Dad still around, he'd probably be charmed by this video and start figuring out how to do it for real.
